Home Alive was released by Epic Records in February 1996 as a double CD benefit album containing music and spoken-word performances. All proceeds from sales of the compilation go to a Seattle-based women's self-defense collective called Home Alive. The album release was inspired by the murder of Gits lead singer Mia Zapata. Soundgarden's "Kyle Petty (Son Of Richard)" was mixed by Brendan O'Brien for the Home Alive comp, a slightly different mix than it had for previous releases. It appeared several times as a b-side to "Fell On Black Days" in 1995. Richard Petty was a race car driver. Check out the lyrics or a sound clip [AU: 1,808,124].
