Just gotta say, I was there dudes!! So, that's what those cameras were
for! You guys might've even seen me, since I was up front snapping
pics. Fun show. Met Pete (and the other guys) and got a big, sweaty
Pete hug. He does look a LOT like Chris, only much beefier. Also
snagged a setlist and got them all to sign it, and hubby won the raffle
of the show poster autographed by all the bands! It was our last night
in town (after Bumbershoot and then a foray into the wilds of Oregon)
and a great way to cap off a great vacation! And anyway, they didn't go
on till 8 cuz it was Karen's birthday and they had a big dinner or
something for her that Pete wasn't about to miss.

Subject: CC interview - read it now

Someone from the newsgroup posted this, and I thought I'd pass it on.

http://allmusic.com/zine/ccornell_set.html

It's one of the longest and most in-depth interviews I've read so far.
Not to mention that Chris sheds some light as to what some of the EM
songs are about (I really like the "Moonchild" explanation) and how he
feels/felt about SG.

Do yourselves a favor, and go check it out.

Subject: Just a little note about NIN....

As the girlfriend of one of the biggest NIN fans on Earth (My BF runs
http://www.smashedupsanity.com Check it out.....its huge), I have
heard alot about what this new NIN album is going to be like. According
to several interviews with Reznor, he thinks he has created an album
that people will hate. The only people who will truly like the new NIN
are those who are the biggest fans....not the people who are only into
songs like Closer and only bought The Downward Spiral for that song.
Just like Chris Cornell's music has evolved over the past couple years
since SG, Trent Reznor has evolved as well over the 5 years since NIN's
last album. I have heard several of the new NIN songs...and I get the
impression that The Fragile will be a much more optimistic album than
the past efforts. Just my 2 cents....sorry for the lack of SG content.

so i saw chris last night... it was the first time i'd ever seen him live.
from what i heard of the nyc set list the dc one seems similar... i'm sure
there will be many people out there talking about the dc show and i just
wanted to say that it was so special to me. i could hardly even clap. i
wanted to cry!! highlights: seasons, sunshower, moonchild and fluttergirl. i
loved seasons soo much. loved it. it brought me back.... back to when i
lived and breathed soundgarden and chris. it was so great even if my state
of mind/obsession isn't as manic as before........ he was there and it felt
like there was a soft hush inside me. wow. as the seasons roll on by.....
-sls*(into chris' fire she goes...)

ps i also saw susan silver. she was watching chris from the left balcony at
930. she didn't look too excited, kinda like hm, he's doing good. he does
this *all* the time. ;)

Subject: DC review...well kind of

Hey everyone!

Sorry if you guys are tired of hearing about reviews, but oh well..I'll =
try to make mine short:}

Chris was *terrific* at the 9:30 club. He got into every song, swaying, =
stomping, eyes closed...you know the usual. He played the same setlist =
that he played everywhere else (Sunshower through Steel Rain). The =
highlight of the evening for me was when he played "Follow My Way". I =
can not begin to say how great he performed that song.=20
"Like Suicide" actually wasn't that bad. It got kinda annoying when =
Natasha's(?) keyboard took over all the other instuments, but, as =
everyone said before, Chris' singing made up for it.=20
Well...since I'm sure other people want to post their reviews, I'll let =
them go more in depth than I did:)

Oh and for the people that wanted to know, yes, there are shirts selling =
there. Along with sweatshirts (I got that:)), hats, and posters, =
postcards, stickers (those were free). And unfortunatly, I did not meet =
one single SOMMSter, but oh well...maybe next time:)

That's all from me

~Liz...still in shock from last night and from almost touching Chris' =
hand and making eye contact with the man three times and being in the =
second row:D

ps. for the girls who drool over Chris like I do....he looked *great* at =
the concert. He looks more beautiful in person than he does on pictures.

Seth,
I have to agree with you, but I have a bit more to add. I watched Cornell at
Harvard's Sanders theater. I read a couple of very benevolent reviews, so I
thought I'd give mine. I understand that it is hard for a 1000 person crowd
to go wild about songs or styles that are not known or haven't been made
publicly available. However, it was a very weird concert to watch and
listen. The Sunshower intro was very good. Chris walked in with a drink in
his hand, waved hello, and started singing.
People were excited. He then sang Can't change me. People were still
excited, loud and rowdy. Mission was pretty good too, but nothing compared
to Seasons. Every time Chris interpreted any song in a SG (Style, Voice,
Scream, High Pith, etc) manner you could hear a loud crowd roar....:)

Overall it was a great concert. One I will tell my grand children about. But
like Seth said, I was very disappointed with Like Suicide. I read Kendrick's
review, and agree with most of it, but Like Suicide...man was the guy off
tune or what!!
Listening to Seasons live or All Night thing was very cool, but we've all
heard Like Suicide, studio, live, and acoustic versions, and listening to it
with Eleven was very disappointing. I'm afraid I can't single point Natasha
or Alain, because I think it was also Chris' fault. To put it simply, Chris
was singing Like Suicide with Kim and Matt in mind...on his own, while Alain
and Natasha were introducing the crowd to their new 11 cd. Anyway...the only
thing that made people not leave their seats and boo was the fact that
Chris' voice was at its best, I'll repeat, the best ever, and singing by
himself ignoring the music was rendered acceptable given this was the 1st
(or second) CC show.

All in all. Good show. Looking forward to his stuff. A few weird tunes. A
few SG influences. A few friends and I realized CC will not be able to pull
a purely new CC show without introducing Sunshower, Seasons, Like Suicide,
All Night Thing, etc. The new album is good, but like drinking tonic water,
needs getting used to.

Best Regards.
Hugo.

Subject: Write-up in FWST

D/FW SOMMSters:

I know there are so few of us, but those who ARE in this area, check out
the Fort Worth Star Telegram for Friday. It had a quote and pic of Chris
and a writeup of EM. The quote was from Boston Globe, but here's the
writeup:

"When Soundgarden singer Chris Cornell muttered 'sure dont mind a
change' at the end of 'garden's thundering single 'Fell on Black Days',
no one really thought he'd take us up on it. Two years after the seminal
Seattle quartet's demise, though, Cornell mutates aplenty on this, his
solo debut. This is not, in any way, reminiscent of Soundgarden. The
only similarity: Cornell's bloody howl. Rather, the music ranges from
mellow rock to orchestral pop to hints of soul. May sound weird at
first, but it gets better with each listen."

What can I say, it was a small writeup. :)

Oh yeah, not even any dates in Texas at all! Whats up with that? When he
doesnt go to another country, he's kind and releases another song on the
album, but noooo!! Texas is just nothing to him! Maybe we should
consider having our own country again...

I know everyone's already gone over this, but what about B-sides? I recall
Kim saying that he was working on it and he wanted to wait until after
Chris' record came out to release it. That was around January I think. Since
then I haven't heard anything at all about it. Also, what's Kim doing now?
How come he isn't working on some side project or something? I vote to all
rally around his house and force him to get to work.
