Subject: Re: NYC show!!!

although i didn't try waiting outside after teh show, i was a bit
dissapointed with the show itself. It may be because i have not heard most of
the songs beforehand so I don't know what they sound like. But one itsy bitsy
little thing kinda messed up the whole experience. The keyboards on Like
Suicide. WTF? OK I understand the songs on EM were written with keyboards in
mind and so thats why those have keyboards... but Like Suicide? No way....
That and also Chris and teh whole band looked like it was on a stage in Las
Vegas or something not at a rock show... but maybe thats because im not used
to seats.
Ok now to the good parts... Chris's voice!!! hell's yeah... even in Like
Suicide which the keyboards messed up, Chris's voice is powerful enough to
just blow the rest of the band out of the hearing range. Its nice to hear its
teh same old voice as back in the day. Alain is great on guitar!!! I don't
know why but i especially liked him because he seemed really serious and
concentrated on it but it came out really good- even the songs not written
with Eleven.
BTW, my friend took pictures at the show as soon as i get my hands on them
(which may not be as soon as I like because we are both real lazy asses) i
will scan some in and put them up in some way. These should be pretty damn
cool cuz we were in the 5th. row (thank you oh mighty ticketmaster.com
glitch).
If anyone finds out anything about the Beacon THeatre show, hook me up with
the info. The experience should be wholly different after hearing EM. Who do
you guys think would be a good opener for Chris ? And lets be serious and
within the spectrum of reality.
ok thats about it bye everyone

Can anyone who's been to one of the concerts, tell me if they're selling
any tour merchandise? I know it's only the promo-tour, and the items (if
any) might vary from the ones later on, but Chris did mention having his
name on t-shirts, during the show.

Yeah, CC comes to Salt Lake, so he does care about the Mormons!!!
Fluttergirl, you seem about as stoked as I am. I thought 'Salt Lake-fat
chance'. I doubt I'll get to see him when I'm back in the UK as he only
goes to Manchester or London or whatever, but while I'm here in Salt Lake
I actually get to see C. Cornell. Pretty cool. Who knows when tickets go
on sale?

WARNING: this email-post contains three parts. PART ONE: my review of the
show... PART TWO: my "review" of the SOMMSters I met. PART THREE: NYC Beacon
Theatre Info.

Hey fun peoples!

I peeked at the setlist for Boston, and I'm kickin myself in the ass for
doing so. Cuz it was the exact same thing. Anyway. Chris was cool, thankin
everyone for coming out to see him perform songs that they've never heard
before, which I thought was cool, even though I was not apart of the crowd.
Chris looked good, wearng the same pants that I keep on seeing on him. I
don't know, he looked like Chris, minus a guitar. His vocals were
ahhhhhh-maaaazing. It sounded full, and had soul and emotions, and he was
hitting every note. He just sounded great. It was just so damn beautiful.
Rocky and Clammy suprised me. See on the album, I'm not too partial o them,
but they rocked out last night. Some woman sitting next to Vicki (did I spell
that right? damn cool old school Sommie that I met) said that Natasha looked
like the mad professor. She really did, she was off the hook on those
keyboards. Live, I like those cats, now why didn't they do that on the album?
Anyway. I found that I wasn't as excited as I thought I would be, but I was
still damn excited. I think basically all the songs were dope... except Like
Suicide. Now what a silly disappointment. I thought the vocals were good, but
there was no need for the Eleven to play during that song, as well as Seasons
and Sweet Euphoria. Someone give the man a goddamn guitar. Seasons actually
wasn't that bad. I mean if Alain had just played along acoustically for all
of them it would have been alright. I don't think Alain had any biznez with
that guitar solo during Like Suicide. It was just too complicated all that
other music. Preaching the End of the World was really fucking excellent. On
the album the vocals don't mend well from soft and sweet to hard and
emotional, but last night they did. Two really disappointing things were that
he didn't play Disappearing One and Wave Goodbye. I'm not gonna even discuss
the disappointment in that. The crowd was great. Mellow people just so damn
happy. Sitting, no pushing, well maybe at the front towards the end of the
set. Some happy Pantera "rock on" guy got Chris dedicatin' Like Suicide to
him. Just a good vibe from the crowd. Chris' energy was just everywhere. The
music was pretty good, and the vox... dope. And for toni, he lookeded
FABULOUS!
They did sell some merchandise, a black hat, a black EM shirt, a white girlie
tee, and a grey fleece (my partic-a-lar favorite) for the person who asked
what they were selling.

And now the SOMMIES:
I was supposed to meet people and didn't end up meeting some of y'all cuz I
don't know what the fuck ya look like. I'm sitting in front of Town Hall
tryin to see who looks like they could be on SOMMS, and I finally get fed up
and just start walkin down the block shouting out "SOMMS!" and had people
looking at me like I was crazy. And then old schooler Vicki raises her hand
and says "Somms!" Yay! Then I met old schoolers Bonnie and Andrea and
ListGOD, Seth. I just wanted to say that aside from seeing the show, chattin
with those cats was was the best part of the night. Tellin me (and each
other) stories of days long ago in Chicago, and whatever else came to mind
(except for Seth, he had to go home). Truly great people. Mellowed me out a
bit (I needed it). You all left a mighty big impression on me that I can't
really make go to words, but thanks for being so nice. Crazy to meet
Sommsters in the flesh, they're not just words anymore!

So on Saturday at 10 am Tickets go on sale thru Ticketmaster for the Beacon
Theater Chris show on November 14th. I'm gonna try my damndest to either get
the hook up at Ticketmaster, or go to the friggin Beacon Theater myself. If
some people won't be able to get tickets lemme know, I'll get them for you.
I'm gonna try to also find out how much they are, service charge, if they're
selling the first 10 rows over the phone/at the box office or whathaveyou and
try to post it later on tonight.

Those in DC, have a great time! And those everywhere else... have a great
time!

Damn, I'm really upset I missed everyone. oh well, the beacon is another
chance. I want to meet some of my fellow fans other than my three friends
who like Chris and Soundgarden. I was hoping to be able to distinguish
sommsters from regular people, but that didn't happen. Maybe some people saw
me before the show. I was standing with my friend right in front of the
double steel doors, listening to the sound check. I was wearing a light blue
plaid button-down, with a grey tee, and cargo pants. I'm tall, brown hair, a
chris-esque goat. anyway, i doubt anyone noticed me. did anyone see those
two metalheads (one had a jaco shirt on. yeah!) who started out on the
balcony, but ended up in the front row by the end? they were funny as hell.
then of course there was the guy who, as chris put it, "was the only guy with
the balls to stand up." i think he got as big an ovation as chris when he
dedicated the song to him. that was great. i wish i met some of you guys
there. especially seth, who i owe so many countless hours of internet
enjoyment to. hope to meet some of you on the 14th. oh yeah, i was in c row
on the balcony. great seats. i was singing to every song.

Chris Cornell was on swedish television today. He spoke about grunge as
usual, and that he doesn't care about making "milestones", or wether
"grunge" had any impact on the music industry, as long as the people likes
the music. No breaking news, just thought I'd mention it. And btw, I think
MTV will play Can't change me quite a lot, since it is directed by the guy
who also directed Madonnas video Nothing really matters... Just a thought.

it thought the keyboards in Like Suicide were really sick, a bit of a twist
on the chorus and it was synth SITAR which is always fun- for me at least, i
can see why some people wouldn't dig it so much though. i just thought it
was a cool addition. I really love the keyboards on "Follow My Way" but the
high-end on that keyboard patch was WAY to high when played solo live and it
hurt my ears. anyway, i think natasha's skills are quite phat, something to
get used to though
