For anyone out there in New Zealand, I found out today that the release date
is hopefully going to be the 29 September, although it could change.
Also they are giving it away on a radio station called The Rock this week.

First, let me say I'm extremely disappointed: this is actually Chris'
second live show, not his first :) Chris said he played a show as "Chris
Cornell", with Matt Cameron in 1990. (Note the smiley, I'm actually _not_
disappointed)

1. Sunshower
2. Can't Change Me
3. Flutter Girl
4. Mission
5. Preaching the End of the World
6. Seasons
7. Pillow of Your Bones
8. When I'm Down
9. Moonchild
10. Sweet Euphoria
11. Like Suicide
12. Follow My Way
 Encore:
13. All Night Thing
14. Steel Rain

For Mike Gallagher: The show started promptly at 9, ended just short of
10:30.

Sorry if I missed any Boston-area Sommsters at the show, I'm just now
catching up with all my email.

All I have to say for now is KICK ASS!!! I may write a longer review later,
but for now, I will say that Chris sounded amazing, and the new music is
very good. Hearing Seasons live was worth the price of the show, and it
just got better from there.

*** WARNING: DON'T READ THIS if you don't want "spoilers"! ***

I just got back from the concert here in Cambridge, MA.. small
venue, indeed. about 1000 people. I was about 75 feet from the
stage.. actually all the seats were within 100-200 feet of the
stage. sound was pretty loud.. audience was pretty enthusiastic..
it seemed from the audience responses that not many had heard the
album songs (although i have, ha ha). it was about 80 minutes long.
overall a pretty damn good concert. chris' voice was quite
excellent. everyone but the bass dude seemed really into it.. chris
didn't play guitar on anything(!) and, obviously, he didn't do
anything solo. chris talked a little bit.. seemed pretty
enthusiastic. no crazy stuff happened at the concert.

Here is the setlist in order, if i recall correctly:

sunshower
can't change me
fluttergirl
mission
preaching the end of the world
seasons
pillow of your bones
when i'm down
moonchild
sweet euphoria
like suicide
follow my way

encores:
times of trouble(!)
steel rain

good things: they did a really cool intro into sunshower (different
from the album cut).. at first i didn't recognize it, but eventually
everyone did and everyone started going crazy..the live performance
was awesome..the treatment was "louder" and more "messy" than the
album cut, but it seemed more fitting than the album version's
"precise" production; seasons was performed by the full band..quiet
drumming, guitars, bass, etc.. it was pretty damn good; some of the
superb performances in my opinion were sunshower, seasons, pillow of
your bones, when i'm down, follow my way, and steel rain. when i'm
down started out with that bluesy pianoish tone that i'm pretty sure
surprised most everyone...but it gradually developed and finished
with a great ending. chris' vocals were especially good near the end
of follow my way.. as follow my way ended, the whole band seemed to
be in the groove..it was great. pillow of your bones plain-out
rocked

bad things: sweet euphoria had vocals, guitars, and some sort of
organ synthesizer instrument which i thought detracted from it. like
suicide was performed by the full band...it was pretty good and had a
respectable guitar solo but the arrangement was substantially
different from the original soundgarden album version as well as from
all the live soundgarden performances of it. i didn't really dig
it.. it had that "grooving" tone that the band seems to put into the
songs instead of the original more "desperate" tone of the
soundgarden original. times of trouble was so-so . . the performance
lacked the "sparseness" of the original temple of the dog cut.
again, the band seemed to add that certain "groove" to it, which i
didn't like.

other things: the backing vocals in general were actually pretty
good...and at times great. natasha did a piano intro into steel rain
that i thought was really good (better than the album). i thought
the live performance of preaching was too bombastic (not appropriate
for that song). Mission sounded pretty good and definitely was the
most soundgarden-ish.

i give the concert an 8.5/10. it's not one to miss, though a real
soundgarden performance would take precedence any day..

Seasons, Like Suicide, and All Night Thing? Those happen to be my three
favorite Cornell tunes ever. Mmmmmmmm...seasons (cue Homer Simpson
drool)...i am so pissed (and jealous) I didnt make it to the show. He's got
to come abit closer to the Midwest later this year or early next. I have to
hear those three songs live! Please God in heaven tell me there was a SOMMie
who recorded this show for us and that there will be a bootleg to come....
over and out...
