No, I don't think it sounds like the one Matt used in BMF. It has more
guts, the kit Matt used in BMF was a piece of crap. I personally hated it,
because it lacked body and fullness, and was like the early kits that the
Pearl Jam drummer(s) used.. it sounded like he was really trying to belt it
but nothing was happening. Listen to the Ayotte kits, they stand head and
shoulders above the rest, and I do believe the Ayotte's are more accurate
sounding to the kit on EM than BMF.
Oh, and by the way, this isn't a flame, just my ovverated psyched up strong
opinion. =)

Have a nice day sommies, I know I have.

I bet you anything it started selling well, so the promoters decided to
switch to no seating to cram more poor saps in there.

I recieved a letter on saturday morning from the ticket office, telling me
that the show is no longer seated, hence everyone will be standing!!!! They
asked me in the letter to confirm that it was ok. Has everyone else had
this info given to them yet? I think it will be better standing anyway.

It's hard to tell exactly what you're getting since there's no tracklisting
on Amazon.com, but the single I have is made in Australia.. not an import.

As for the price, work out the exchange rates and you've got a good deal, or
we're all being ripped off..

Also, (while I've got the nagging tone out) what is with the
semi-intelligent posts to the list "Scared of big brother".... like, if
there was no need to say what I said in the first place, why not just
dismiss it rather than carry it on? (Like I'm hypocritically doing here).

I just felt what I needed to say had to be said, if anyone else has
something against me posting to the list with a positive tone, please inform
me and I will be sure to make my posts alot more brooding, pessimistic and
negative.

On a more relevant note, is the release date for EM the same in Australia as
U.S.A?

hi all a few people brought up supporting the artist and all and getting the
CD even though they have it on mp3 or on CD-R because they want to
support.... actually if you want to be evil and sneaky.... the CDs you buy
you usually pay the record company while when oyu go see the artist live you
pay the artist themselves... obviously in both instances both entities get
money, but artists get little from CD sales and record companies get little
from tours... anyway thats the excuse i use for never buying new CDs and
getting everything used or in promo form (that and the fact that I'm cheap
and getting CDs for under $5 greatly increases the number of them I can buy)
and then going to shows on the money i save. btw if you're wondering, i don't
replace CDs with mp3s for the simple reason that mp3 sound is too sucky and i
shelled out $1000 for my stereo system and want to use it!!! adress the
flames and dissatisfactions to xanavrinx@aol.com and not SOMMS.

I think Matt and the recording engineers/producer finally nailed the drum=

I've only heard CCM. The drum sound on that reminds me most of DOTU if a=

True, true, the artist makes money off of merchandising (assuming they own
the rights and after the 10-15% cut that the manager takes) but they will
make money from touring too. Ticketmaster tacks on a service charge separate
from the actual price of the ticket. The artist will usually make a flat fee
(say $5K) and then a percentage (say 70% of the door) after X amount of
people pay (X usually depends on the venue capacity). The booking
agent/promoter will make a percentage of that. This way the venue can
guarantee that it's costs are covered and still have some profit. A
band/artist can make some serious cash touring depending on draw.

hhhmmm..this post got me thinking..not that i feel like i should defend
myself but rather the reasoning behind my thinking and why i enjoy reading
other Sommsters reviews of EM...

I beleive these Sommsters said it best so far..."still, its nice to know
what to expect & what meanings people are getting out of the new album
lyrically", and "Secondly, I think these album reviews are an awesome thing
we're doing. It's like there's been no flames or anything! And the reviews
have been quite diverse and its good to see the wide range of opinions being
spread./.. I'd like to thank you all for being objective."

Whereas some posters on this list enjoy reading what others think of
Chris' or Soundgarden's music for that matter (isn't that what this list is
for anyway??) I guess others don't appreciate indviduals' insight on the
most anticipated album this list has been looking forward to. Apples and
oranges i guess...

>Also, (while i've got the nagging tone out) what is with the semi-apologetic

I'm sorry of you think we are all scared that 'big brother' is gonna
take us away for getting our hands on a copy of the cd. I'm sure speaking
for most of the list who said even though they have mp3's or burnt cds or
whatever already, that when they say they plan on buying the actual cd, they
aren't doing it because they feel 'guilty' or 'paranoid'. That is so
close-minded. We are all going to buy it simply because we are fans. Not
being a huge Nine Inch Nails fan, though i do love Reznor's first album and
some of his other songs like 'Closer', I may not rush out as quickly to get
the new album if i happen to find it on mp3 or have a freind make an
unofficial copy for me. I personally stated that i wanted to get an actual
copy of EM to 'support' the man himself. Not because i feel like i have to
or am scared that big brother will take away my cds if i don't...it's
because i WANT to. Because knowing ahead of time that i was going to buy the
album regardless, and now being able to hear how good it really is for
myself earlier than expected, I believe in his work strongly and am
strenghted further as a fan of his music. Owning an actual packaged copy the
album will look good and be an incomparible additon not only to my cd
collection, but more importantly my Soundgarden collection as well. Alot is
to be said about having the actual printed sleeve or slipcase for the album.
The lyrics, photos, and other design work as well. Remember anyone when
albums were sometimes bought for their artwork as well? All good reasons why
when we say we will still buy the cd though we have a bootleg copy already,
we still look forward to buying an actual copy of the album.
And i do realize that the artist doesn't rake in the buckets of cash
from each copy of the album sold. There are other ways to say you are
supporting an artist then having to send them your money or thinking you
have to buy into their merchandising. Supporting could be interpreted as
simply as believing in the feelings you get from that particular musician
and the songs they create...hoping that in enjoying them, it may find an
audience with others who feel as you do. Others whom you might feel like
enjoying the music with and look forward to strengthening or sharing a
common bond to.
I know some of you fear of Chris becoming too popular and we all want to
keep him as our best kept secret sometimes but i can't think of any cooler
thing when i find someone who shares the same aspiration, devotion, and
appreciation, for a particular musician, song, album, or even a movie for
that matter, again, another reason i joined this list.
I know Chris' music has the potential for becoming mainstream and
getting hordes of people into his album who are just looking to latch on to
the new flavor of the month. But as long as Chris keeps being true to
himself (and i do believe him when he says that he is) and writing albums
like EM i dont think he is going to let that happen. Most of those same
people who jump on the band wagon will get right off after being
disinterested, and then there might be new people who "get" what he is
saying and might stay on for the ride like we do. I know im not speaking for
everyone on the list though who have not accepted his new sound, look, or
image, or whatever bullshit label you have to put on it. It's Chris being
Chris, playing the kind of music that makes him happy and hopefully some of
us along away. We all go down different paths and we shouldn't all be
expected to like this album. But i do, and i can't help but feel a little
sorry for those of you not yet giving him a chance because this album is
incredible. It may not be Soundgarden-esque as much as people want it to be,
but after listening to it so much lately i personally feel that the more
Chris is changing...the more he is staying the same. I think that's one
thing he mght be saying in the first song...think about it.

I AM so devistated!

DId anyone get an extra ticket? I tried SOOOOOO heard to get tickets and I
was always a mintue too late to get them. I just need ONE ticket, so if
anyone got an extra ticket, would you please e-mail me!!!! I'm ready to pay
any price for it.

This would mean soooooooo much to me! I'm sure you guys know. The lady at
BASS told me that sometimes they release tickets closer to the show date,
but she really doubts it. so if you can, you would be a hero!

i don't understand all this about September 6th...I saw a commercial for the
Cornell Making the Video right after the first airing of last week's bunk
Jennifer Lopez one. he was like coming out of a body of water and shaking
his hair getting water everywhere it was pretty weird. so yeah, watch for
10:30...

Hey, has anybody been to the official site today? In order to play
Preaching the End of the World, you have to buy RA G2. Before, you had a
choice, but not anymore. WHAT IS UP WITH THAT??!? That's sooo fucking
weak I want to puke.

Uh, I didn't have to buy the real player to hear it. There is a FREE
version of real player, if that's what you're taking about.

And for once, it actually came through in a halfway decent sound quality.
I was pissed yesterday when I was trying to listen to the interview on UK
(?) radio -- it was terrible quality and it kept saying "net congestion,
buffering."

Real Player sucks in general. I wish all these websites would refrain from
using it.

RA G2 is free. Their web site makes it really easy to follow
the click path for buying it, but there is a freebie option.

Man that fucking sucks, my day was set on watching that tv show. As
much as I am hating MTV I still got to wait. When I saw that it was
house of style I could have killed my best friend. So I guess I will
have to wait until 10:30 PM eastern time and 8:30 my time to see the
video on the 6th, unless they do pull some weird ass shit and show it
tomorrow, but the MTV web site says the 6TH.
