Sommies!

In amidst all this chris-news... I met Kim Thayil tonight! Lookin' healthy,
happy, and same as ever if you interested :) and for those girls of the
Kim persuasion.. he was holding himself pretty close to a very nice lady
there :) So while he may not be a-hoppin' to get b-sides done.. he's takin'
care of himself. :)

Has anyone had any luck getting hold of tickets for the LA shows?

B/c a friend has just been told by ticketmaster - about 5 mins after the
tickets
for both LA shows supposedly went on sale - that they have all gone! But
more tickets may be available at a later date as there is a strong demand.
Now TM may have got this wrong - this tour has been plagued by confusion
as far as ticket sales are concerned - but it looks like scalpers are going
to
make a mint from Chris' LA shows.

Anyone wanting tickets for LA should maybe call ticketmaster and see if they
get the same story.

Both shows are in fact SOLD OUT!!!! HOWEVER, for people who ordered over
the phone with credit cards, some might get declined so their tickets
will go back on sale. My bro and i got row DD of the first show and we
got ours right at 12 noon. the gey right behind us, the only other
person there to get Cornell Tickets, got row JJ of the second show. the
lady who sold em to us even went through and checked to see if there
were any other better seats for us and they were all gone. She had never
heard of Chris and thought that the venue, Henry Fonda Theater, started
selling tickets at the door eairlyer in the day. But who knows. should
be a great show. Can't wait.

I don't think so either :-( I just returned from HMV in Oxford Street
("Chris Cornell? Didn't he used to be in a band?) where I was told the UK
release of the single has been pushed back from tomorrow until October 4th,
presumably to coincide with the European tour.

Doesnt the bass drum on EM sound almost exactly like the one on

recorded on Pro-Tools, he could have made it sound like anything he wanted.

If i'm not mistaken, it's on at 10:30 no matter where you are in the US.
They always have the Making of a Video specials on at the 10 Spot which
don't start until 10, hence the name. So check you local listings to
make sure what time it comes on.

Actually, the 10 spot does start at eight here. I always watch Daria on
Wednesdays, which would be on at 10:30 during the 10 spot, but it's on at
8:30 here.

Hi
I went to a Wherehouse in Arcadia to get tickets and no one was there....
When the tickets went on sale at noon, I was first in line and there was one
girl behind me to get Chris Cornell Tix. Anyways, the guy who worked there
told me that the first night would sell out quick because the first so many
rows are taken up by radio stations(K-ROQ). Well, it sold out in like 2
mins. So I got two ticket for the second night (row K); which sold out in 5
mins. I have the feeling when the tour was planned, they didn't think so
many people would want to go to the shows and that's why the venue changed
from the El Rey (a much smaller club) to the Henry Fonda Theater.....I hope
to see some of you there! Jen

mmm Kogg, you've heard me bash the life out of the lyrics ever since i first
read them, but I'm particulary drawn to When I'm Down's lyrics. the tiny
piece of the song i have heard so far [c/o CCTV] impressed me greatly. Thats
the type of voice / song i suppose i was looking forward to. Not SG, Not
"seasons," but Not some goofy drum-machines either. But the emotion, the kind
of apologizing for seeming distant more often than not, the remorseful "oh
no, she feels like i'm using her just for an ear when i need to talk."

it's.. i understand these lyrics a lot, they hit home. ever have a friend
accuse you of only being there when you needed something, or talking about
certian things only for the sake of drawing compliments for yourself? this is
what i feel this is like, but from a romantic relationship. Depressives hide
inside till they need help most, and even though we love the people that we
go to when we're lowest ALL the time, it might sometimes seem we only love
them when we're really down. But, like he says, we're down all the time, we
always love them. I love the lyrics, a lot.

> But the sound/feel of it is almost like You call me a dog or Say hello to
> heaven.. Again, the lyrics could be better.

Very much it reminds me of 'Four Walled World' [no, i haven't heard the whole
thing]. If you take most of cornell's lyrics out of the song, more often than
not they look a little odd if not... completely wrong. As in the chorus to
"times of trouble." i Love this song, Love the lyrics. But i love them much
more when it's with the song, they look a bit hokey otherwise.

I think Cornell's lyrics for these songs off of EM center around the vocal
line, and the feel of the music, what they'll sound like with the song as the
backdrop. Without the song, they lose a lot of oomph. Look at "Preaching." I
think the lyrics to this are just.. ick. But, his voice carries them well,
especially in the chorus "it's just the end of the wooooorld" is a favorite
line of mine. I'm not big on this song, but the lyrics sound better along
with the music.

Subject: everyone else is doing it, why can't I

In light of everyone reviewing the new album, I have chosen to do the same.
And remember, MY OPINION IS THE ONLY ONE THAT MATTERS!! So there.

Can't Change Me. Anyone who bashes this song has reason. It's a damn good
song, but not quite what we were expecting for the first single. it just
doesn't compare with the rest of the album. those complaining about trite or
poor lyrics should just shut up. he's not shakespeare for god's sake. not
every song is gonna be a lyrical masterpiece. there were soundgarden songs
that were poorly written. get over it. it's good. 3 out of 5.

Fluttergirl. This is the only song I'm disappointed with. Not because he
speeded it up a bit, but because it just sounds weird. where the effects
sound cool and original on other songs, they just sound stupid on this one.
chris still does a good job singing, but the music is damn annoying. 2 of 5

Preaching the End of the World. AWESOME!!! Chris never ceases to amaze me.
This is the way songs are meant to be made. Amazing vocals. Well written.
Nothing else needs to be said. 5 of 5.

Follow My Way. This song totally reminds me of Temple for whatever reason.
So in other words, anything that sounds like Temple is awesome. Another
great song. Great chorus. A good commentary on conformity in my opinion. 4
of 5.

When I'm Down. Now this was interesting. This song proves my belief that
Chris is the greatest singer ever. His range is unmatched and his pure
talent is remarkable. This song proves that experimentation is a good thing.

Mission. Indeed the most Soundgarden of the songs. Totally powerful.
Another keeper. 4 of 5.

Wave Goodbye. A fitting tribute to Jeff Buckley. In fact, this album
reminds me of Buckley now that I think about it. And there's nothing wrong
with that.

Moonchild. Haven't heard it yet.

Disappearing One. Anyone complaining about Matt not being noticealbe needs
to get over it. It's true, but this is not a Soundgarden or a Matt Cameron
album. It's another song of Chris's new style, so of course it's not gonna
be an all-out assault on the set. 4 of 5.

Pillow of Your Bones. The only thing that saves my respect for Eleven is
this song. In my opinion, this song is what's gonna make the album move. by
far the best song, preaching in second. if chris weren't trying to be
experimental, he should've made the whole album like this song. I wouldn't
mind a bit. 6 of 5. if that's possible.

Steel Rain. a quality hard ballad. i don't really feel like analyzing this
one. it's good as all of the songs are. not quite as great as the others.
i don't really like the chorus though. 3 of 5.

so that's my review. i give the album a 4.5 total. it's really everything i
expected. not quite perfection, but damn close.

got my tix to town hall. third row on the balcony. whoo hoo!
i also got creed tickets. i love creed. the new song is awesome. i loved
them at woodstock. they and live had the best performances. and those are
the two albums i look forward to most this fall. next to chris of course. i
hope they put on another great show.

I apoligize in advance if this has already been posted (but I don't think it
has).

Can't Change Me is available for pre-order on amazon.com

(Copy and paste might work better than clicking the link, it just depends on
how it shows up in your mail progran. Anyhoo, I hope the link works. If
not, you could always search "Chris Cornell" in the music section.)

It lists it as an import (for those of us outside the UK, I guess) and it is
$12.99. Is that a decent price?

The single isn't available at CDnow, but is there anywhere else on the
internet where one could buy it?

Subject: I got my copy!! Hot damn!

Hello All-
Went out to my car this afternoon to pay a visit to some fam and noticed
something in a blue sleeve under my windsheild wiper once i got in my car.
I reached out the window, grabbed it, opened the sleeve and found a
recordable compact disc inside. Thinking this was very odd and not knowing
what to expect, i slid the cd into my player in my car and expected some
government agent voice to come on and give me a 'mission', then tell me the
cd would self destruct in five seconds (cue the Mission Impossible music).
Imagine my surprise when i heard the first few notes of CCM, then scanning
thru the rest of the tracks finding the entire album, all 12 tracks, in
completion. Someone anonymous scored me the Euphoria Morning album on a
burnt cd. All my friends knew i was anticipating this cd and what a big Sg
fan i'm am so i was pretty excited to say the least today. Actually i think
my benefactor is an old friend of mine i used to work with at a job i was
fired from a few years ago. He has a mutual friend who writes for a local
music zine and scores promo copies of stuff all the time. This was
especially cool after spending all night downloading about six of songs on
mp3 from Kendrick's site (thanks Kendrick btw). And in case any record execs
are reading this post and are on the list, I WILL buy the actual cd when it
hits stores to support my favorite musician. So far i love the album and in
many ways it's much better than i expected (and i did expect it to be at
least awesome, so there ya go). Hopefully later in the week once i have some
more time and have digested the album, i'll throw my cards into the hat and
give a quick review of Euphoria Morning also.
Jut a quick note, my fave songs so far are Disappearing One, Sweet Euphoria,
and When I'm Down.
Now if chris could just schedule a show abit closer somewhere in the Midwest
to Ohio..

Subject: Chris Cornell Tickets in L.A.

Hey. I went to buy my tickets for the two Chris Cornell shows on Saturday.
I was the first person in line. After I was done getting my tickets, the
tickets were sold out. Tickets were on sale at noon and then 3 minutes later
they were sold out. I knew that the tickets were going to sell out quick but
I didn't know that it would sell out in 3 minutes. I was the first person in
line and I didn't even get the pit or front row. It kinda sucks but I'm
glad I got tickets. I felt bad for the people in back of me. I'll be sure
to write up a review of the concert. Is there a S.D. and L.A. SOMMSters
meeting before the concert still going on? Please let me know. Take care
and rock on fellow SG fans!!!
