my apologies to my fellow SOMMster's, It wasn't very cool of me to sink to
his level, I just felt the need to defend myself, when someone says "and
here's a haiku for all of you badmouthing fuckheads" & can't come up with a
reason for it. For what it's worth, I have no desire to continue the subject,
please overlook my breech of ettiquite.
As for Soundgarden related news, I heard on an interview on the local radio
station (KNND) that the possibility of a reunion isn't out of the questions,
but it may depend on how well the sucess of the solo album.

Subject: Sweet Euphoria

I have to disagree with Justin when he says (below) he would have liked more
songs like Sweet Euphoria on the album. I love it - it's probably my
favourite right now - but I would compare Euphoria Morning to a delicious,
but very rich meal - albeit with a light fluffy starter in Can't Change Me.

The French often pause during a big meal to eat or drink something that
cleanses and refreshes the palate (my favourite used to be a calvados water
ice) before tucking into the remaining courses. To me, the stripped down
clarity of Sweet Euphoria is like that water ice and I think it's powerful
presence on the album would be diminished if there were more songs like it.

Bloody hell, I sound pretentious, don't I? ;-) But I'm sure you get my
drift.

Subject: i love austin

hello all,

well, i'm back at school, i'm here...finally unpacked...and i'm loving it.
so today, i went to a local record shop and bought several records which is
so much cooler here than in Dallas (my home eh) because...well because of
everything. For example, one of the records i bought was BMF on the pee gold
vinyl...i'd been looking for this for quite a while. i'd already had it on
black (it's a promo edition of BMF) but this tops my collection. The cool
thing is, instead of being ripped like in dallas (by the one
place...cough...bills...cough...that has ANY records) i was delighted to see
that it was only 4 dollars. yes, 4 american dollars. i also could afford to
treat myself to a few others, some hendrix, cheap trick, zeppelin, u2, and
the who.

HOWEVER!!!! the coolest thing was that i started shootin shit with the guy
and started talking about SG and Chris...so i asked if they had recieved any
advance promo's of EM...he said that they hadn't but that they were expecting
some....SO he asks...not me asking him, but HE asked if i WANTED to LEAVE my
name and number so that they could call me when they come in. jeez...i'm so
stoked...that means i've spent all this time downloading with my crappy 28.8
modem like for the last 3 days for nothing...ah well. hehehe, small music
stores rock. the people at tower next door didn't even know who chris
cornell was, much less that he had an album coming. pish,

ryan

you make a very good point, deb. and I agree wholeheartedly.

in writing about 'sweet euphoria' I was reminded of the venom chris spat
when he recounted some guy telling him that he should "write more songs
like 'seasons'". never let it be said that *I* would tell chris what to
write ;)

I feel that 'sweet euphoria' might be the most emotive song on the record.
it is completely naked, chris and a guitar. more importantly it is without
natasha and alain's interference.

I can't help but wonder what an album like that might sound like.

I knew I had something else to tell you...<grinning>

on a whim I went to the upstairs section of hmv records last night and
found chris cornell's new single for sale ($9.95).

the b-sides are

2. 'fluttergirl' from the poncier cd;
3. 'nowhere but you' from the poncier cd;
4. 'when I'm down' (demo).

I was quite pleased, obviously ;)

the fourth track is no demo; it is exactly the same as the album version
and certainly not "recorded by chris cornell at home". a glaring error,
but the other two tracks certainly make up for it.

it's pretty obvious, but there hasn't really been any talk of it on the
list..

funny that it's listed as being from the poncier cd, or is that just where
you have your version of it? i never did find a copy of poncier, so i've
always considered it a "stolen prayers" demo. :)
