Now, that's one of the most ridiculous statements I've heard all year!
I'm not saying it's self-depracating to wear eyeliner, but to say ANY
self respecting artist HAS to wear it is-- bizarre! Since when did
eyeliner become a mark of self respect or artistic ability?

Well, after I heard Susan didn't want to 'manage' anymore, I already thought
about babies. It was a right hunch. I hope the baby will be as talented as
its parents, so in about 20 years my daughter will experience the same as I
did.

I don't think the real issue here is the eyeliner. We're all just afraid he
will become too popular and we'll 'loose' him. We don't want to fight for
tickets with new fans who want him for his looks and all that. Or am I
wrong?

Rollingstone? What a total waste! double-blehhhh!!)

I don't think artists -HAVE- to wear eyeliner, but if he's a guy & a rock

sorry about the delay on t-shirts and tour. John and I have been writing and
recording a new record, as well as rehearsing a live band, and playing in
other groups to pay the rent so to speak. So far the new record is more song
oriented, and it is going to feature a lot of McBain's majestic guitar way
up front. We love all of you. m.c.

Truthfully, I'm not sure, but I kinda doubt it. the radio stastion I heard it
on (& I don't like to listen to that station so much-too much Korn & Kid
ROck) gets stuff as far as a month in advance to being released & I haven't
bothered to go look 4 a single seeing I'll wait 4 the album.

err.. "grunge" is (And this is my opinion based on what I've read/studied
and I've put alot of time into the Seattle scene cuz I love it) about the
rebellion against success in my eyes, and it's being short lived is duly so.
Melody Maker from Britain came over in '90 and kicked a small fuss (In hype!
you can see a small British (I think its british) TV set about Seattle bands
circa '90) but that was it, and they thought it was over. Then, "Smells
Like Teen Spirit" opened up the wound. All these bands were happy in their
"suburban utopia", and as it seems were unwilling to partake in pop culture,
because they were smart. Look at trends, it goes from one style to another,
record labels moving around like "big huie's". Grunge like all good things,
died young because it was honest, and because it didn't eat out of the hands
of corporate U.S.A. Besides, we still have The Tree's and Pearl Jam, plus
the music/memory of SG, Nirvana, AIC and more. SG were obviously (In my
opinion at least) the best band to come out of Seattle, because they stand
out, they are probably the most unique of the bands. Most bands, AIC, PJ
etc... pretty much kept with their style, but SG, well, we all know what
they did. They contrasted, listen to LTL, then SU. Big difference. In my
opinion, I welcome the change. Matt, Kim, Chris and Ben are all damn fine
musicians and I thank them for the music they brang. And I also thank them,
for not dragging it onto the piont of boredom, something they had all
rebelled against, and actively stopped. To do so would be an act of
hypocrisy. Pop culture is a sad state, but hey, are we necessarily obliged
to partake in it? SG didn't.

Well that's more than my 2 cents but I hope it sheds some light on
somethings. =) By the way, I'm not flaming anyone here (I just happen to
feel very passionate about the whole SG-Seattle thing).

but they did. they played a huge role in forming modern pop culture. i see
what you mean, but you're mistaken. sg had as much a role in shaping what
would become grunge which in turn has shaped much of our pop culture. hip hop
is playing as much a part now as grunge did from the early 90's to now.
nobody's obliged to do anything, but whether we like it or not everyone
interacts and in the process creates a new twist in the old fabric.

Look-Not to be rude, but I've lived in Seattle my whole life so I kinda had
ring side seat to watch the "Seattle scene" as you refer to it so I didn't
really need the explination or any "light shed" like I'm some moron who's
been living in a dark closet or something.I kinda noticed already & felt the
implications of its rise to popularity. I am aware that there was a reason
grunge was short lived & how that wasn't nessisarily a bad thing. I just
meant that I miss the good ole' days of Mudhoney, Melvins & all the rest you
forgot to mention & that there seems to be less artistic integrity & honest
emotion in late 90's music than there was in the blooming
"alternative/grunge" You say you like the 'Trees, Nirvana, etc...well wouldn
you rather listen to them or....Blink 182 or whatever else they cram onto the
radio & TV-I think you'd rather listen to the former. I guess this is one
flame of a letter, but its something I am very passionate about too.

Hey thanks for the tip about this Napster thing. It's
great! I'm logged on right now but there's no one
with the whole album on. But there is Preaching the
End of the World. I only got the first 2 minutes too
Toni. That's all the guy had. I'm in the process of
downloading the Fluttergirl MP3 now, I suppose it's
the new version. It's 6MB to so I assume it's the
whole thing.

Anyway to they guys who have advance copies or Mp3s or
whatever of the rest of the album. Why don't you put
them up there. Oh go on!

Jay.

Well said. But I think your trying to say they had a hand in the formation
of grunge (Which inadvertantly become part of early 90's pop culture). They
did, and around the '94 years especially they were part of pop culture, but
do you get the idea they preferred to do their own thing than purposely
partake in pop culture? I guess what I'm trying to say is, yes they did have
a hand in pop culture, but not necessarily purposely.

well I must confess, I'm a bit grouchy with Seattle lately in general so I
was just getting some grumps out-you see & I don't know if you've been to
there lately, but ever since all those "cool bands" came out, Microsoft
became such a big deal & some newspaper describing Seattle as one of the
nicest, cleanest, safest places to live our population has jumped at an
unhealthy rate for which the city was caught woefully unprepared. (I guess in
all reality I should be happy to live here, but....) some of which have the
ideaolgy of "Hey it'll be easy to get a job & I can catch Pearl Jam on
Staurday night!!" So now rent & real estate is obnoxiously high, traffic is
rush hour all day, the job market is dog against dog, you can't find a place
to park under $20 on a saturday night & alot our rock bands grew up, moved up
& broke apart or don't come home anymore . so all the hype didn't do anything
for me!!! But that probably had less to do with the bands than the Microsft,
etc factors. Anyhoo, thanks for the vent space!
Robin!

My post was meant on a non-partisant point of view, to others who may not
fully understand it. I agree that it would be good to go back to the good
old days, but the good old days before it was 'pop' culture. Bbut if your
passionate to, perhaps it would be interesting to share views? My mind is
open. Any suggestions, comments etc.. feel free to shoot 'em on over. =)
