This is for UK fans, or any European fans who can pick up BBC Radio 1...

A new rock show goes on air on 21st September. It's hosted by Mary Anne
Hobbs. Bad news is it is on from midnight till 2 AM! Good news is that Chris
will "doing an exclusive session" (Ms Hobb's words) on the very first show,
so it's worth staying up for!

The Moog Synthesizer was the first commercially produced synthesizer,
and you would laugh if you saw one. It was a modular analogue
synthesizer, extremely primitive by today's standards, invented and
developed by Bob Moog (pronounced with a long o, like rogue) around
1969. It had all sorts of patch cords and and knobs and things that
were rather touchy- not something designed for live performance or
portability. It was popularized by Walter Carlos (who became Wendy
Carlos) who recorded "Switched On Bach", an album of classical
selections played on the Moog. Tomita also made several classical
recordings with it, including "Pictures at an Exhibition." Keith
Emerson with Emerson Lake and Palmer made the first rock and roll use of
it.

What Matt plays is a Mini-Moog (you can see a picture of one here-
http://machines.hyperreal.org/manufacturers/Moog/MiniMoog/images/MiniMoog.jpg
), a smaller version of the earlier dinosaurs, and I remember reading
an interview where he complained that it had to warm up for several days
before it would stay in tune for very long.

A Moog is an old school analog synth. They've had quite a resurgence in
popularity as of late, however, I think intrest in them is dying down

I just saying he writes poetically like Shakespeare. The tid bit from
MacBeth was a good example of how his poetry is for those who haven't read
much Shakespeare. Now I'm not saying all the songs sound like Shakespeare.
Just certain lines and words give the lyrics a shakespearian feel. As for
Poe he always wrote dark lyrics that could make or break yah in a moment
kinda the way that SG does for me and I feel that "EM" will have the same
effect. For instance I listen to a song like Limo Wreck and one minute I'm
in a easy listening state then the next I'm on the edge of my seat.

Hey any of you CA SOMMSters, (LA or SF)

I'm stuck here in the land of Olympic scandal, formerly known as Utah,
however, I'm seriously thinking of flying out to catch one of Chris' shows in
September.

Would any of you be so kind as to tell me how I can get in touch with the
outlets to purchase tix? I know they don't go on sale until next week, & I
also know the official web site lists the venues, but they give no contact
info.

Any of you willing to help by supplying me with a bit of information, you
will be greatly appreciated & I will be indebted to you forever!

Thanx,

Well, Fluttergirl is some sort of academic genius, cause she got everything
right, even the scene. Just to let ya know, I grabbed my fave Shakespeare
play, flipped to a nice little soliloquy, and let 'er rip. I got a lot of
crazy offerings, maybe from people desperate to get some free Boots. :) I
got Othello, Hamlet (Jenny, tsk tsk), R&J and Koggle came close with Lady
Macbeth, but Fluttergirl is the winner, as she replied first.

I liked this contest. I think I'll do it again sometime, as Fluttergirl
doesn't reply immediately to me with the answer :)

I'll e-mail Fluttergirl with the bootleg news soon. I have to make my
bootleg page VERY soon. Just to let people know, I have Soundgarden, Rocket
>From The Crypt, Reverend Horton Heat, PUSA and some upcoming Matchbox 20
(for a friend, I swear to GOD) bootlegs..

Does anyone know what's up with Ben, or Kim or Matt? Matt of coarse is doing

anyone's heard anything about that? Ben recorded with Pete Krebs ( a Seattle

details? As for Kim I've herad squat! Well, I'm the new kid here so I don't
know if any of my questions have already been adressed, but if anyone's got

ps. Not that anyone asked, but I suppose I should give a little bit of an

world was soundgarden (duh!) but love the Supersuckers, Mudhoney & Corrosion

Hey people!

I was channel surfing last night and landed on VH1. This week, they are
celebrating teen idols and guess who they were talking about... Chris
Cornell. Apparently some young hormone-ladden, near-pubescent girls are
already started to fall in love with him. Some rep from his record company
was talking about possibly developing a "Chris doll" and plastic fork
necklaces in neon bright colors.

Scare ya?   ;-}

Anyway, on a serious note, <throat clearing> lately VH1 has been having
week-long "celebrations" of various genres/eras of music, (teen idols, the
60's, heavy metal, yadda yadda). So, my little mind thought, "Why not a
'Seattle Sound' or 'Grunge' week?", for lack of better labels. Just think, a
whole week of shows focusing on the likes of SG, PJ, AIC etc. etc.. If we
could recover from our ill-fated attempt to get SG on MTV's TRL and pull
together we might be able to "sell" them on this idea.

I mean, this week they're doing in-depth stories about people like Stacey Q,
Debbie Gibson, and Ricky Nelson. THEY NEED OUR HELP! We could even make a
special request for a "Behind the Music" episode on Soundgarden.

What'dya think?

Hey,

I stole this from Kingdome of a Kiss...

On Thursday 18 November, 1999 a Jeff Buckley tribute concert will take place
in Karlsruhe, Germany. Artists will perform original music that was inspired
by Jeff. (Performers will be announced at a later date.) There will also be
videos shown between sets. The Tribute takes place
at Treacy4s Irish Pub and all the proceeds will be donated to Road Recovery.
Updates can be found by selecting Coming Events at
www.goblindesign.com/gallan.htm.

We know Chris is going to be in the Netherlands in October (rumoured), so
whats stopping him from going to perform at this event? Its a small pub,
which he's technically doing in the States, he could sing Wave Goodbye (if
you don't know the story behind that, welcome to SOMMS) as well as others.
Lets cross fingers folks. And Deb should be smiling, its closer there than
the States is :)

Wonder if it'll be life size : ) Couldn't resist that one...

But either way, he could be a bagger at a grocery store and he'd still be
good looking, so who cares if "little kiddies" think he's easy on the eyes,
it's the truth. Just because he's a well-known musician doesn't mean he
should pull a Michael Jackson and start wearing a cloth over his face.
Unless of course, Chris' nose falls off : )

It would pretty cool if they could make a wind up of him. Maybe singing

Greetings kiddies...

Yes, it is I... your favorite antagonist/lust-puppy/hootchie-supreme...
Shroom. I just wanted to drop the list a quick note to say hi. No, I'm not
dead. Yes, I'm absolutely ecstatic about the new CD. Amber and I are
gearing up the Dallas front for the future tour (dammit Chris, you'd better
tour here because we know where you li.... ummm... because we love you,
dammit). I've only been skimming the list once in awhile for the last couple
years, so I don't know if any other Dallas people have joined up. If there
are some DFW SOMMSters out there, feel free to drop me a line. Amber and I
will be having a wonder Soundgarden-fest very soon.

One other interesting bit of news... I'm getting married! Yes, good old
Shroomy has met a nice boy and is settling down. Well, kinda settling down.
I'm getting married, anyway. Whatever. His name is Zack and I want to be
the first to wish us the best of luck in our future. :) The date is January
21st. Damn, I'm cool.

Forever in love and thoughts swapping spit with Chris,

<kisskiss>

"Shroomy, my lust for you is only exceeded by my need for superstardom and
hair gel. I'll call you when I get to Dallas and we'll boink like it's the
end of the world! What? You're getting MARRIED?? Well gee, I guess that's
ok... he can watch." ~ Chris Cornell

Words not necessarily said in this exact order <~~ my disclaimer

Chris' site has been updated. The new photo of him looks very similar to the
promo album cover.

Speaking of the promo album cover, so far, his album has been sold for less
than $70 on ebay.com. Hrmm...lucky bastards!

THIS IS NOT A JOKE.

Rock show is featuring Seattle bands tonight. It's on right now. There's
already been a Chris sighting. We might get a video out of this.

Yeh, I was totally joking. I get really bored at work sometimes and you know
what happens to idle minds. It was my twisted attempt at humor, sorry. But I
was serious about trying to get a "Seattle Sound" week on VH1. They'd be
more likely to play some old SG stuff than that other channel. And VH1 is
about to play SG NOW!

Gotta go.
