I just want to say that regardless of image, marketing, website, what SG
was, what Chris might or might not be, what the album might or might not
be like, what some people think it's cool to like or not like, etc.- I
don't like CCM and I really don't like the new Flutter Girl (even the
title was better before- as one word, kinda like "butterfly"). And that
is my opinion based entirely on the music (not even the lyrics, because
a song should be able to stand on its own without being propped up by
the lyrics).

Dear SOMMSters,
Go ahead and try to remove me! If you don't agree
with my opinion, that doesn't mean that I should be
removed from the list! If y'all do decide to remove
me, I'll just sign up under a different identity
anyway. I really can't believe the level of absolute
stupidity on this message board! All of you say that
I'm the one being brainwashed into believing Cornell
has gone soft, when it is actually all of you who have
been convinced that Cornell is great because someone
says so! Grow up and think for yourselves! Every
time that I have posted my opinion on this board,
someone comes along and bad mouths me! I asked for
INTELLIGENT responses to my post, instead I get name
calling and calls for my removal from the list! I'm
not sure what makes you people think you're all so
much better, just because you all happen to like
Cornell's new direction. I DON'T like Cornell's new
image, and never will, that is my perogative. Instead
of being judgemental toward people with different
views, you all should try to see why a person may feel
this way. In closing, if you all thought as fast as
you talked, you'd shut up!

I don't think people are annoyed by your opinion so much as they are
annoyed by the fact that you seem desperate for people to flame you.
Like your just TRYING to start a flame war.

Dear SOMMSters,
To those of you worried that I'm trying to start a
flame war, forget about it. As for those who tell me
to shut up, why don't you do the same and then no one
will ever post anything on this board again! What the
hell is wrong with expressing our likes and dislikes
about the direction Cornell is heading? Isn't that
what this board is all about? You people really
confuse me. As long as everyone follows the pack and
loves Cornell, they are respected on the list. As
soon as one or two disagree, they are subjected to
more and more e-mails that have a harsh, attacking
tone to them. So far I have received at least six
e-mails personally attacking my views, and I am not
pleased! This behavior is outrageous to say the
least, and I am really suprised that there are such
callous people on this list!

well i mean look at your letters too, they're a bit flamish themselves... and
as for "following the pack" or whatever, are we supposed to like that you
attack chris and totally forget about all the amazing work he's put into
getting this cd together? i mean, so the guy doesn't dress to your taste...
isn't your whole point about not fitting into catagories? do you want him to
forever be in that soundgardenish type of catagory? as for me, as long as he
puts out good music i couldn't give a rat's ass about how he choses to dress
himself.... thats my 2 cents.

Well, I have the Stolen Prayers bootleg and I LOVED the original version
of this song, and after hearing the new one...eh, I think it was much better
before...the new version is too up-tempo and the song in general just has a

I agree 100% with Dave. Who cares if his opinion differs from
everyone else's. I am not saying I agree with his view, but he is
entitled to it. I do think Chris ruined Fluttergirl. It sounded much
better before. That is MY opinion. If you guys want to post saying
that you want me, or anyone kicked off the list, then fuck yourself.
This is a list on Soundgarden. Soundgarden played music, which was
all about expression. So how can you take offense to someone else's
expression???? Like Dave said, Think before you write. It would save
me a lot of room in my mailbox, as well as the aggravation of reading
pointless posts on whose opinion is wrong or right.

just a thought.

I don't think Dave Brenner (or anyone else) should be kicked off the list,
else unless they repeatedly ignore the mission of the list or start
attacking someone personally. It would help matters if people at least
tried to be civil. Flame-beggars should be ignored, and people who
aggressively express interesting opinions should be heard. We all walk
the line.

Now here's a few things I've been thinking about:

1) how do I save Real Audio 5.0 format so I can have a (mediocre) copy
of the new Flutter Girl? (yes I do like it mostly, and yes I must have
   it for my archives regardless)

2) What would everyone think about organizing a petition campaign to get
whoever owns SG's music videos to release an official comprehensive
   collection?

3) Which is the better non-album track: "Kyle Petty, Son of Richard" or
   "Karyoke" ?

4) Has anyone heard the alternate Rhinosaur version/mix on some CD single?

Okay, sails failing for lack of wind.

I agree. If someone REALLY annoys the hell out of you, use your "block

I have to say one thing about Flutter Girl. After listening to it a
dozen times I just have one vision that swims into my head. I picture
them recording it in a animated

doo-dad factory. The assembly line stamping out little doo-dads as they
travel down the line in a certain rhythm with gears spinning and pistons
pumping. All the noises(swooshes and pings) in the back ground are just
so damn distracting and

doo-dadish!!

Gee! maybe that's an idea for the video. Chris the handsome factory
worker(well he'd have to wear a hair net to keep that hair out of the
doo-dads) daydreaming on the job about his fluttergirl....he loses his
concentration.....the press smashes his
hand...<color><param>ffff,0000,0000</param>BLOOD</color>..... gore
everywhere......OH sorry that's a different band altogether!!! I think
they are recording Splattergirl!! toni

The first time my husband heard this version of Flutter Girl, he kept
asking why they put the Pac Man music in the background. Can't wait to
hear how he does this song on stage..

About an opening act.. The doors here in DC open at 9pm, usually when
there is more than one act they open at 7pm. That means Chris will not
go on until 10pm or so. No time for an opening act. Has any one at the
locations of the other shows heard anything?

HAHAHAHAHA,
ohmy.
I haven't had quite that good of a laugh in a while.
Now, I don't understand this whole 'the teenyboppers' will love him.
Most of the chicks I know find him anything but attractive (they're
obviously blind). I don't think they'll be as much of a problem as everyone
thinks, especially with his odd new hair (very nice! i love it, but its
still odd).
And a sellout? hardly. I think EM will be anything but a sellout
record. Chris obviously knows what sells. He's been in the music industry
for over a decade. He could run off and write another 'black hole sun' with
a video to match. Can't change me is far from a pop hit. Infact I'm
wondering if it's going to get anywhere near the radio play it deserves.
It's anything but soundgarden, and thats some of the beauty in it. We miss
soundgarden, but we know they're all moving on and doing what they want to
do. Imagine if they'd stayed together and made horrible records. They'd all
be unhappy, and so would we. So it makes the record all more enjoyable to
me.

did anyone else enjoy the fact that Dave there wanted an intelligent reply,
it was given to him, and then he comes back with some shit about chris' lack
of talent, he's a sellout, and the backstreet boys?
yeh they SUCK alright.
hahahhahahaha

Yeah, it does have kinda funky-mother-chunkin' guitar
bit in the background. Who knows? Maybe he'll do it
live by himself on a 12-string, a la Seasons (if only).

porno music
blues music
and Cornell music

IF any of you guys have satellite or you do get Mtv2 then keep up with it
becuase they play blocks of soundgarden, they just played OUtsHined a second
ago. HELL YA!!!!! A month or 2 ago they played a soundgarden block of about
5 videos. I think they played some from LTL and a few from BMF. They didnt
play anything thing from SU or DOTU which is actually fine with me becuase I
have seen those a million times although I will have to admit that BHS is the
coolest, weirdest video I have ever seen.

I know it might have been posted, but when is the Can't Change Me single
going to be released in the USA? I thought I read a B-side would be an solo
version of Black Hole Sun or Fell on Black Days. If we've gone over this a
million times, just e-mail me privately please.
