Thanks Dave :-) The review is on there already, but not the scan, so yes
please send it.

There's also a great interview with Chris in Rocksound, where he talks about
not being inspired by hard rock any more (but no mention of the Beatles :-).
It's a little too long to post, besides you can't see the pretty pictures on
SOMMS, so go to www.rustycage.u-net.com/whatsnew.htm and follow the link.

Jen mentioned the CD being on eBay. Someone's also selling colour prints of
CC from the early 90s (which you can also get to by clicking the above URL).
People who think he is suddenly being marketed as a sex object in photos,
should take a look at these!
 :-)

" Euphoria Morning" album will be released in Japan Sep.1,but I have no
information about release date of CCM single. I don't think it will be
released in japan.
I asked TOWERRECORDS,Virgin megastore and local record shop (which has many
chain stores in Japan)in TOKYO,
They told me the CCM single will not be inported to Japan.
I was surprised that it has not be released in States yet. Only possibility
maybe is by MP3?
There is very experimental in marketing.
The only information ,I have is that CCM Australian edition will to come out
on August 25.
I was discouraged, to know that the internet mail order is the only way I
may get this.

i'm a member of a jam band (i don't listen to phish, dead, etc., however),
but also write and record my solo stuff that sounds COMPLETELY different than
what i do in that band. this is the same idea, as most of you have surmised,
as what chris is doing now. only difference is that his band had to split to
give him the time to let his true self out. not to say bands are restrictive,
but if you like who you play with, no matter what music you're playing, you
can swallow your tastes and be a bit proffessional about it. it helps also to
be diverse as sg collectively have shown. but i imagine this is the real
chris since whose style does he have to filter through?

fluttergirl seems to have taken an fobd scale rearrangement. ok not that
drastic but it's heavily rearranged, enough where i can hear how alain &
natasha recieved credit. i like it. it's got a cool little solo, and if you
listen you can hear all these fuzzed out guitars sitting under everything.
it's much more dense sounding than what i was expecting. like bmf, but not as
noisey. why do i bother, i know i'm getting the album anyway.

thanks

Oh yeah, that story rings a bell. I hadn't thought of the guitar part as
being
a drum arrangement. Cool.

BTW, I've listened to Fluttergirl (the website version) again. The first
time I
listened to it I used the G2 option, thinking newer is better, right?
Sounded
like crap, so I tried the five-oh and it seems just a step below the CCM mp3
quality. Anyone else have any experience with this sort of thing?

I like the new version A LOT! !) The chorus is really strong now, and (dare I
say it?) prettier than the demo. If Cornell can take a cool mopey song and do
this to it, I'm sure we'll have a couple of heavier SG-ish songs on the
album.

Dear SOMMsters,
I'd just like to state my opinion on Cornell's solo
career. First off, on his website he looks like a
girl! I don't know what the hell happened to his
sense of mind in doing these really bad promo
pictures, but Cornell seems to be caving in to the
glitz and glam that is popular nowadays in rock. The
last time I checked, Cornell was a very intelligent
singer/songwriter who refused to act or dress a
certain way in order to be accepted by the masses.
Now, Cornell seems to have become a record labels
dream, with his new, stick thin look, his poorly
styled hair hanging in his eyes, and his interviews
about how the Beatles inspired his new direction. I'm
sure people on this list will give me shit for this,
but Cornell is pandering for the general teenybopper
audience now. That is the bottom line, pure and
simple. I, for one, will NOT purchase the new album,
and have lost a great amount of respect for a man that
I once believed to be one of the greatest musicians
working today! If anyone wants to respond to this
post, please do it in an intelligent manner, and DO
NOT, I repeat DO NOT begin a flame war by calling
names and acting like babies! I have a right to post
my opinion as much as anyone else on this list, and I
believe we all deserve intelligent, thought provoking
responses. Thanks for your time.

My 'intelligent' reply, Dave, is that you seem to be basing your decision
not to buy the album entirely on Chris looks and how you perceive he is
being marketed. You make no comment at all in your post (below) about what
really matters - the music!

Ok, most of us have only heard two songs - and there are mixed feelings
about both. But give Mr Cornell - and yourself - a chance. Listen to the
album a few times first (beg, borrow, steal if you don't want to buy). Are
you really so willing to miss out on what could be a great musical
experience simply because you think you are going to look uncool/be laughed
at by your friends for liking stuff you perceive teenage girls will also
like? Sorry but that doesn't seem too intelligent to me.

Deb
PS Sorry for including the whole of Dave's post, but its contents back up my
point - what about the music?

before i explode, doesn't boot camp sound like led zep's no quarter? and a
suggestion for those who take them, get king crimson's "red". it'll kick your
ass. now for our feature presentation:

what the hell is up with about a third of the list population slagging chris
for a) how he looks, b) how he's being portrayed ("marketed" is such an ugly
word), c) that he's making HIS music with the help of his FRIENDS, and d)
that he's gone "soft. jesus christ, people, wait for the frikkin album to
come out before you make asses of yourselves. he's said 50 billion times that
he's not sg. he's chris cornell. a completely different and separate entity.

so the hell what if he wants to wear his hair differently, and try on a new
look. what. you want him to put on his flannel shirt and army boots? if you
don't like what he's doing now, go rot listenning to bmf forever and pretend
nothing alse was recorded since. i'm not exactly the most progressive, modern
person i know, but move on. ugh, this arguement is like a scratched record.

that feels much better.
