It's an advanced copy of the CD, hence, shitty cover graphics. I have
yet to see a cool cover for a promo item. Well, i'm wrong there. the
cover of Rocket from the Crypt's newest album RFTC had a cool cover.
hehehe But i got to agree with Nicki again, the artwork for this album,
from a graphic standpoint is pretty sad.

Well Monica,
If you dont call SG a Metal band what do you call them? If they have come out a couple of years earlier, or came from another part of the world, they would be considered nothing but metal (except for maybe DotU), but because they unfortunately came out of Seatle at just the wrong time, they were thrown into this category of "grunge" or "alternative" or whatever.
I can assept the lack of heaviness on TotD, but after hearing CCM I think Chris has gone soft, and that all these years in SG it was Kim who was the driving force behind the metal nature of the band.

Favourite songs on LTL are Get on the Snake and Loud Love, and Hands All Over when it is played live with American Woman at the end.
On Screaming Life it is Hunted Down, and on Fopp it is Swallow My Pride (even if it is a Green River song).

Chris has written "soft" songs before DotU, and probably always will since
he has range. I agree
about Kim, though. Apparently the band recorded a version of Applebite
that Kim liked better;
it was much more guitar-oriented than the one that made the album.

yes it was Q (May '98 I think), and yes it was gold body paint. And to this
day, if you mention that mag cover, she will blush like hell. But I think
the point Mike was trying to make, was that if you're talented enough, you
won't need to sell your music by plastering your sex-appeal on every front
page. I'm sure Chris doesn't need this, but let's face it, it's been going
on since early Soundgarden, and it won't stop now. I have piles of
magazines with bare-chested Chris' (ok, and one of Matt in those famous
briefs) and it's not like someone forced him to take that shirt off. Kim
sure managed to keep his on all these years.
I think the only difference to now is, that Chris seems either more
comfortable with showing his face more or he's just sick of hiding all the
time (just imho),which is why we're seeing all these "image"-shots. Either
way, good for him. But geez... he just had to lose that self-consciousness
now that his hair is all weird ;-)

This brings me to an important point. The official Chris Cornell website
sucks. With the exception of the fact it has direct communication with the
man himself, its just another fansite. OK, a new MP3 and a short little 30
sec RealVideo clip, the rest of the stuff could have been discovered by
people like Deb or someone. And I mean, everything is late, this so-called
"newsletter" doesn't exist and the content is basically press releases.

No doubt. If they're advertising something as being up on Tuesday, they
shouldn't
wait until evening to post the new content.

It's hardly new content. I read about CC stealing Beatles albums
about 9 years ago. And to take other parts of the site and call them
"new" cuz its a different link, is pathetic.

>From spin.com:

Sources for the late Jeff Buckley indicate that a new live album may be
in the works (Buckley's pre-Grace disc, Live at Sin-e remains a cult
fave). Live Buckley sound board DATS, circa 1994, have been recently
recovered and are currently being listened to by Buckley's old backing
band (who will likely produce the project). A January 2,000 release date
is being kicked around.

In other Buckley news, a French film company is currently prepping a
documentary on the artist for Paris-based ARTE Television. The one hour
project, directed by Don Kent, will air in Europe before year's end.

Although Spin doesn't mention that Chris will be involved in either
project, ya never know.

Subject: The Album Cover

The promo album cover that I saw at the PAWS benefit dinner was a black
and white photo of Chris on an antique bed. The perfectly made bed was
facing the camera. Chris was sitting in full profile on the left side of
the bed, slumped deep at the waist with his feet planted firmly on the
floor. A large, perturbed black cat sat behind him, occupying the foot
of the right side of the bed. The room had the decorative character of a
time period long gone by, which made Chris seem out of place with his
modern hairstyle, sleeveless white T-shirt and designer black leather
pants. The room had a guest room feel, only it seemed that no one had
visited in a long while. The picture wasn't sensual or sexual. It
was...quiet. It seemed as if Chris had wandered into the room in the
early morning, looking for a pensive place to absorb or reflect on
something. The cat seemed annoyed at the intrusion.

The first thought that came to my mind was, "Are those really black
leather pants?" ;-) The second thing that came to mind was, "Euphoria
Morning? He doesn't look too happy." I thought about my first night in
Seattle after I left New York. I didn't go out. I didn't call anybody.
I was proud of my choice to move, but saddened by what I had left behind.
I sat quietly for hours in an attempt to absorb the reality of the new
life I had chosen. I pictured Chris walking into the antique room after
finishing his solo album. Soundgarden represented the antique room.
Chris was his new self. An we, as Soundgarden fans, were the pissed off
cat. The image made me smile.

Favorites:
Screaming Life/FOPP - Hand of God and Entering
Louder Than Love - Uncovered and Ugly Truth. I also love Power Trip -

Soundgarden (I saw them for the very first time on Headbangers Ball

Subject: CCM Single? Japanese release dates..

Hey y'all,

I was at my local music store, and asked if I could order the latest from
Chris (I'm such a badass :)) and the girl said the following points of
interest..

* Euphoria Morning will be released in Japan on September 7 (or 8th) and is
available through the JPT Distro company. It is also over $40 Canadian. I
wonder since Japanese imports sometimes have different songs and/or more
songs, as this is about $20 more to import. Just food for thought, and also
for people bidding over $100 for it on ebay, save $60 will ya? Someone try
to get more info on this..

* Don't expect the single to be released anytime soon. Or the video. If the
director just got announced, odds are they're making the sets, finising
scripts, filming, editing, and shipping it out, and that takes around 2
weeks. Also, the girl said that the single is usually released a month after
the song hits radio to increase "hype". I gotta say that Chris' people have
actually gotten a pretty good marketing team on them. Big MP3 release, heavy
radio play, magazine articles...the whole 9 yards..

Me now. Any one given any thought to the b-side of CCM? Is it going to be a
track for the album, or an unreleased track? I vote for a existing track, as
the same thing was done for Part 1 of Pretty Noose, with Applebite, An
Unkind and the kicker, an interview with Natasha. Speaking of which, there
could be a part 1 & 2 of CCM. Its been done, and with the smart marketing
team on Chris' side, he'll want to leech all the money from us die-hards as
possible.

I'm out. Maybe someone will start a thread with this info, rather than me
getting a couple replys of "Exactly my thoughts!". I like it, but contribute
something to the list, that's what its for, and if its not redundant, then
let all share!

Dave

Subject: Chris Promotional Events?

Hey y'all,

Sorry to post again so soon, but I was reading something and it caught my
eye. Apparantly, the new TV season starts September 20-25. Chris' new album
comes out the 21st in US/Can. Now, I'm guessing that a lot of people are
going to tune in this first week for pilots, epidodes of Friends, ER and the
networks keep their viewers (hopefully) for the late night talk shows. I
know this was mentioned a while ago about Chris doing talk shows while in
NY, but would this be a perfect time to book him on the triple threat of
Rosie/Regis and Kathie/Letterman? All three would have no qualms about
having Chris over, but we all know from the past that SG doesn't enjoy doing
talk show appearances. Is this the same for Chris? Would he be pushed into
doing this by that sleazy pimpish manager Jimmy? I'd like to hear your
thoughts, if there are anyone willing to comment. Not only does this talk
about Chris, but also how the media manipulates people towards biased
views...in case he is a heroin addict :) j/k

Dave
