No, I didn't resemble this remark, but let me make something clear. =
Because somebody's new to this "mailing list" does not necessarily mean =
that they haven't been a diehard SG fanatic since primordial SG days. =
In fact, I'd wager that at least a few of the "newbies" to this group =
ain't newbies at all to SG; in fact perhaps even more seasoned veterans =
than some of you techno types, although in all fairness, who's counting? =
Now, I don't think there's anything wrong with dicussing other bands on =
this group that might have a relation, however tangential, to SG. But =
to compare a discussion about Wellwater (or Pigeonhed, or Devil Head, or =
Truly, or TOTD, or MACC, or Alice Mudgarden, ad infinitum) which =
contains a former member of SG to a 25-post long passionate and =
melodramatic debate about some SG-ripoff act, and what a poet its =
frontman is, ain't comparing apples to apples. All I'm saying is, at =
the advice of a friend, I'm onto the SOMMS digest thing. Maybe it'll =
help screen some of the shit that passes through this network. I'm sure =
I've made some new friends here now. Throw whatever you want. And if =
you want some input, dig Van Vanishing, it's the greatest track on the =
new Wellwater. GodDAMN Matt lets it all hang out there!!!

This list has rules. You all knew that when you joined. If you don't
like the rules either leave or take the issue up with Seth (the monarch)
personally. We do not "keep it going", Seth keeps it going for us. He
can pull the plug whenever he likes.
I don't believe that anyone here reasonably believes "Soundgarden
content" has to be reduced to the band that was. What the current
members are up to is certainly relevant, and I think we could extend
that *at times* to include family members as well (this list was always
open to announcements about Inflateable Soule), and side projects
involving SG members were always acceptible fare here. However, a band
containing someone who might sound like SG, or might look like SG,
regardless of how good they might be, is not relevant, and I am not
interested in reading about it on here. I can find out about other
bands other places. I can discuss them with like-minded people in other
places. I refrain from doing so on here out of respect for the other
listmembers, and for the rules.

I tend to make/force connections between seemingly unrelated songs. Anyway,
here is a recent one. I was listening to Applebite and, in certain parts, the
drums really reminded me of the drums in Black Hole Sun. I know that many of
us take the title Applebite as a biblical reference to the Adam and Eve
story. The drum similarities (at least in my mind) seemed to point to Black
Hole Sun, or its success, as being seen as the forbidden fruit that, once
sampled, had fatefully exiled soundgarden from their deserved kingdom, a
prophecy that would be fulfilled by their eventual breakup. Was BHS' success
the root of all evil?? Was that to blame? I still love BHS, though.

honestly not a bible-thumper,

Speaking of MP3s, does anyone know if and where I can find a recording of
Christi in full. I've heard the clips at Seth's site, but I'd like to hear
the full song. I used to go to the old Soundgarden ftp site- "The Source"-
(back when my computer had about 50 MB free disk space) at 24.1.16.6 for rare
shit, but that location has been down for about a year, I guess. Thanks,
SOMMS brethren.

Does anyone know the *official* date of the release of Chris' first single? I
know the date August 8 was being thrown around, but that is a Sunday and
don't these things usually come out on a Tuesday?

Anyway, the record company is holding this one tight. I have been hounding my
radio company contacts to get me an advanced promo copy, but the label won't
release them. They will only let radio management here it on a hand delivered
CD which they pocket right after the meeting and won't let any copies
out......but I'm still trying.

well, the first song of SG i heard was
"black hole sun", it was in 1994,
I lived in Tel-Aviv then.So I wanna tell you -
before I heard the rest of SG I judged them only by
BHS and my expectations weren't high. I still do not enjoy
this song.So i think if that lousy channel called MTV puts
on a song from the new Chris' album it'll be the most ...hmmm
wimpy... yeah,...to put it short - the least rocking song from
the album.I never heard "Pretty Noose" or "Kickstand" on MTV.
so, dear TLC/eminem/madonna/lenny kravitz fans COME ON ,
WAIT UNTILL THAT POPPY-CRAPPY CHANNEL PUTS ANY GOOD MUSIC...

It's funny you should mention BHS.. I have had the urge to listen to it more
often than any other SG song this month. And i love it. I don't care how big
it was and how everyone knew/knows the words. It is a great song.. So who
knows what new song from Euphoria Morning will get played over and over.. we
all know some shit songs get stuck in radio stations frequently played
songlist, but i feel confident that there WILL be a cool song that everyone
will like and we'll hear it nonstop and we'll get an influx of newbies (and
i don't mean new to SOMMS newbies, i mean new to Chris newbies.. most
probably 14 year olds that see him in the video, just like i did!)..
As for MTV, I really don't care what they play! Don't bother waiting! heheh

later
