Subject: Rage

Hello SOMMSTERS,

I wrote this at home and saved it to disk and am posting it now that
I'm back at Uni., and I know it's been mentioned by 'Mansel' but here
it is anyway.

Living in Australia I was sitting at home watching Rage (all-night
music program) on Saturday night (I know that's sad) and taped a
couple of video clips. Then I thought if the next clip isn't
Soundgarden I'm going to bed, as I stood up I heard the start of JCP
and there's the clip! I thought 'what the fuck?'. Awesome! That's
the only SG clip that was played as Marilyn Manson was guest
programming, however Mr. Brian Warner has now earned brownie points
with me (assuming he even knows who Soundgarden are).

Anyhow, the JCP clip did contain a girl on a cross so I'm assuming
this is an uncensored version, and I'm wondering what that
Terminator-style robot is in the clip? I'm not saying it sucks, just
wondering if the song was on that movie or something (??).

Also, I have a version of Pretty Noose clip that was played here and
it is censored in that it only contains the rope sliding across the
sheets at the end. One more thing, I heard the BUTOW clip is banned
in the US, is that true? I've taped it from TV here and it isn't
censored despite its content, it is very good. The BHS clip here does
not have a geletinous baby, however.

Rage is awesome! Even the 'Smack My Bitch Up' clip got played, I
think that's extraordinary. By the way Mansel, that L7 clip before JCP
was 'Andres', one of the worst clips I have ever seen although it is a
good piece of music.

I got a better example... When Rocket from the Crypt were reaching the
release date of there newest album "RFTC" they were not positive on the
song they were gonna release as the first single. They released 2 songs
to the radio at the same time, "Break it Up" and "Lipstick", and let the
listeners choose the song they liked the best and they would make that
the first single off the new album. Here is the weird thing... before
they even released the songs to radio, they went and shot the video for
"Break it Up" (which i was lucky enough to be in. woo hoo). The reason
they shat that video was because the had extra time before heading out
on tour and they got money from the label Elemental, their UK label
since Interscope was to big of a corporate mass and didn't want to fork
out the money for a low budget video. That's the big labels for ya. Any
way... they ended up having a completely different song, "When in Rome",
as the first official single release in the UK while the US didn't get
an official Single release. A few month later the "Lipstick" single was
officially released in both the US and the UK. The video for that was in
so limited release that it was only seen 2 or 3 times and only in the
UK. Then a few months later "Break it Up" was officially released as a
single in both the US and UK and the same thing happened to that video,
it was in limited release in the UK only. Confusing huh???? that's what
you should expect for Interscope. they bite. It sucks that Chris had to
be put on Interscope. all i can say is this... don't expect to much
publicity from Interscope for Chris' album... they could care less about
promoting the album, as long as they get their money from the sale of
the albums... I hate Major labels that start off cool and then once they
start making money drop the very bands that made them popular and rich
because one album didn't make as much money as the one before it.

I've heard a few bootlegs that have a song called Helter Skelter. Does
anyone know anything about it? I've looked in the official and unofficial
sites but I can't find anything at all.

yeah. it's a beatles song that SG covered during their final tour. the
original version is Very much different than SG's alteration. Where
soundgarden played it nice, slow, and sensual, taking the song to a much
different level, the Beatles played a fast jumpy version. Sg truly made this
cover their own song, in a way.

Once we are on the subject of Beatles covers... I recently became really
enchanted with the song (both the SG cover versiona dn the Beatles
original).... its really cool that SG actually added their own touch to the
songs they covered... hwere comes the question:
When did the Come Together cover appear? Is it on any official releases, or
just bootlegs?
Also, is there a list somewhere out there of every song SG ever covered....
and anopther list of every SG song ever covered?
Thanks for the info
