You would. Do you get the feeling that a certain new management/label
are getting just a bit precious about their new ward? Are we supposed
to be impressed that they can threaten everyone with lawyers? Are they
perhaps afraid if we hear the song too far in advance we might decide we
don't want to buy it once it does come out because we're not as rabid
for it? Whatever it is, it all spells HYPE with a capital H to me. I
say, if you don't want it played yet, don't send out promo copies yet.

Well, thank God you left me and Toni and a few others out of that one.

well, i don't know how about Chris,
but there's one grave I would like to dig.
it's Lenin's mausoleum in Moscow,
that real satan must be thrown away from

So maybe Chris could help russian people

Come to think of it, I dont know what the hell Matt is doing. He better
be doing something, he got into a lot of things! He should be recording
with Pearl Jam, planning a tour for Wellwater Conspiracy, or hell,
taking care of his kid! The man better not be doing nothing, he's got
tons to do. He got himself into all this stuff he's doing. But you're
right, I guess he does deserve a vacation. Hey, maybe he's working on
his own solo album! Wouldnt that be a treat?!

J.U. yes, ha ha, that's a new one. Well at least I have a name for my
e-mails Mr/ Miss. She Likes Surprises [a.k.a. unknown, just in case
someone finds out you were blessed with a name].

Jay, good on you. Mike, off with you to get your pension and three months
board at the old people's home, grandpa.

Jim, I was unaware that Josh played with Wellwater, I presume that is on
Brotherhood, which I am yet to get. I only have Declaration. As for Kyuss,
the one album I haven't got is Wretch. But I've heard from Kyuss fans that
it's shit. Get 'Sky Valley' that's the daddy. I know John Garcia has a
much more metal rock voice, but it has power. Most people I know heard
Josh sing and said that they prefer John. But personally I like both.
Josh's voice has a mellowness to it that I haven't heard before in a rock
band. It's just hard for some to get used to when they listened to Kyuss
for years. You should check out the QOTSA album also, it rules.
Johnny.

Subject: beyond the wheel

I was just thinking: someone recently brought up the story of how 665 and 667
were made up, that they're the two numbers surrounding 666, and so on. Well,
since they surround Beyond the Wheel, I thought that maybe BTW had to do with
"the mark of the beast." So I decided to check out the lyrics, and now I'm
almost completely certain that the place "far beyond the wheel" is hell. One
of the lines is "there is a churning storm of hailing burning bones," another
is "deep into the ground." Of course, now "oldbies" will flame me because
they thought of this right when they bought UMOK, then they'll come to my
house and bludgeon me to death, because, after all, there's nothing worse
than someone relatively new to SOMMS.

hey kiddies... dispite the non-chris cornell play-age on the radio, recently,
I've been noticing that the radio stations down here in the bay and Sacto
areas, have been playing a lot more Soundgarden. In fact, there's a radio
station down here that's been playing Power Trip. I hear it all the time.
It's so dope!! (just thought I'd shine some positivity on this list) ;)

now... about the "newbies", who honestly cares who's new and who's not?? I
mean, as long as we all love Soundgarden, isn't that all that matters?? I
think so, anyways, so can we please give the "newbie" argument a rest??
gracias. : )

has anyone heard any news on Chris tour dates?? I just went to the site and
nothing... I was hoping someone would know something, because let's face it:
SOMMSters always have "their ways" of finding out stuff. ;)

wells, chat yall up laters!!!

fellow bleeders,

i remember sending this years ago. i just thought i might share it
again since we've gotten many new poeple on board.

this was taken from the enhanced promo cd from Request magazine,
Request vol. 4.

<<< In fact, in a time when a misunderstood lyric can lead to pickets and boycotts, Cornell seems to relish the notion that listeners might
twist the meaning of his work. "The thought that somebody might get
it wrong doesn't bother me at all", he says."I come from a background
of being a fan of music, where the idea is more or less escapism. and
whatever facilitates and wherever you escape to is your business.
That's the only way you can really own the cds you buy. If you spend
money on something that encourages you to come up with your own
meaning..visually, mentally, emotionally- then it's all worth the
money. And for us as a band, it's well worth the effort of recording
it in the first place." >>>

this is one of the reasons Soundgarden is the "thinking-headbanger's
rock band".

Yeah this is the same effect PJ uses all over "Evenflow." My dad is somewhat
of a sudio man and his best guess was this:

Step 1: Record vocals
Step 2: Instead of "shit" say "poo"... oops, wait then have the vocal
recording reversed.
Step 3: Put reverb on the parts you want that effect on.
Step 4: Reverse it so it's playing forward again, now all those parts should
do the reverb backwards, so it swells into the words instead of decaying.

The radio station I listen to has been playing the hell out of "Sunshower"
along with playing higher than normal doses of Soundgarden. Which is not
suprising. Whenever the station knows that something new is about to be
released, they start playing the older songs of the band in heavier
rotation.

yesterday...i did something i never thought i'd do twice..i let someone take
me to another Lilith Fair extravaganza!!! but before you let your eyes roll
from side to side...let me just say that for every Dixie Chick, there were 3
yummy, ice cold, lemonade slushies, and for every Sheryl Crow tune, there
were about16 free Biore facial cloths and other sponsored Biore products to
cleans my face!! and did i mention a complementary sample of Tommy Girl
perfume? as you can see, the day wasn't a total waste...but i'd be a lying
fool if i didn't admit that there were some dull moments... at one point a
banner flew overhead with a very enticing suggestion, "Bored? tired? try L7!"
he he he.. note: soundgarden material coming, don't delete yet!

so anyhoo..i knew cibo matto were going to do a side stage deal...so i
brought my album sleeve in hopes that i could perhaps persuade them to sign
it... after their set of only about 3 or 4 songs (talk about disappointment!
except for the fact that sean lennon backed them on bass) i caught up with
the girls who in actuality are about as short as i am!! very humbling. while
they signed away, my spastic brain somehow made a leap out of what i would
detect as mindmeld.. i thought...yuka!? miho!? black hole sun!? cover!?
SOUNDGARDEN!*!*!*! so i asked them... "so what really inspired you to cover
BHS, are or were you two fans? and miho said "yes, but it wasn't about that!
actually it was yuka's idea. one day we were watching an MTV countdown..like
the top 100 songs of the summer of '94 or something.. and we just thought
that the song was so awesome." (note: she added major emphasis to awesome..he
he just thought i'd share) then i asked yuka, as it was apparently her idea
and all... and she said "it was so heavy, but i wanted to make it sound like
something completely different from what it was. and then she said something
like "we thought it would be kind of funny too, didn't you think so?"

hooray for mike rubin and his researching skills!!! i said it before and i'll
say it again...spin (and every other publication for that matter) devours
rolling stone when it comes to accuracy...but of course..you already knew
that!

Actually, I think Wretch is generally considered to be Kyuss' weakest
effort. It's the only one I haven't heard. All of the other are killer
good. QOTSA kicks some supreme ass also. I highly recommend you give
Kyuss another chance. MY fave is Sky Valley. On the Kyuss/QOTSA split,
Kyuss covers Into The Void, with the original lyrics of course. I
would've liked to have heard Kyuss cover Soundgarden or vice versa.

I can't believe I'm going there... but here I go.
A long time ago I dreamed that Chris, Kim, and Matt came over and had
popcorn and tried on clothes with me.

The didn't just come over, they all teleported in. Chris and Kim got there
first, and I was like "where's Matt?" and then he teleported in. He didn't
stay very long and Ben was busy or something.=20

It was like my house was a vintage clothing store, and they were my girl
friends. Kim was the most fun, he got sort of giggly and started trying on
all these feather boas.

I asked Kim if he was going to join another band (this was right after the
breakup) and he said he didn't know. I told him he ought to be playing
music because I don't usually like guitar but he was so good he actually
made me think it souded worth listening to. He said he'd been playing a
long time, he'd probably keep playing but not necessarily in public.

After Matt teleported out Chris, Kim and I got into a food fight with the
popcorn.

Then there was some censored stuff that only Shroomy would be brave enough
to send to the list.

When Chris and Kim left, they were sitting on the couch and they
teleported out together, along with the couch.

It was pretty weird.
