Subject: Switch off your radio and go back to sleep

Some one just emailed me to say he's been bugging his local radio station
(which will remain nameless to protect the 'guilty' ) to play Can't Change
Me and they told him they *had* been playing it but were told to stop or
playing it or face the legal consequences.

Now I can understand why Chris' management/record label would not want fans
with advance copies of the single or album to copy them and pass them round.
What with mp3s and cheap CD recorders, it would be so easy for someone
unscrupulous to start pirating the album and making money off it (I'm *not*
suggesting that anyone here would). But you would think after the long
wait - made more unbearable by the various release dates they've thrown at
us (remember October 1998?) that came to nothing - they would be damn
pleased that US radio stations are so eager to pick up on the single and
play it a month in advance.

Oh well, back to Ricky Martin....

I don't want to burst anyone's bubble, but I think it's highly unlikely
Chris will perform at this years' Bumbershoot, since schedules are tight
there and booked well in advance (the application process closes months
before the show schedules come out). The new schedule went up
yesterday. Chris is not on it. I know it's not out of the realm of
possibility that he might go onstage with someone else and do a song or
something, but even then you might have a very tough time seeing that
since there are numerous bands going all at once over 4 full days and
nights.

i can feel an "original thread forming soon, something along the lines of
"what kind of soundgarden tattoos does everyone have?" or "i think all of the
soundgarden catalog is about andy wood and heroin" please forgive me for
this most useless post, i just had the urge.

Hey here's a topic if anyone's interested, what the weirdest experience =
you've had involving SG or indirectly involving SG. I'm talking dreams =
and shit here. D=E9j=E0 vu, or whatever.

I was once had this weird dream, that I went to an SG show, and it was =
like, the whole arena was pieced off into thirds, with the middle third =
being the best and the other two just being of average value. I was in =
the low value sites. The opening band was You Am I, that seriously went =
off. Then when SG came on this huge thing came over so that only the =
middle third could see them and the outlying thirds could barely see =
Matt's Hi-Hat. But then I was invited by Chris up to the microphone (I =
don't know why) and Chris said "Fuck this Seattle shit (Sorry bout the =
blasphemy =3D/) " and we started doing beatles covers. Wow that was =
weird.

Another recent weird event, I swear to god, Matt Cameron in one of my =
few posters jumped out at me, and we started talking and he invited me =
to his place (In the poster) and we spoke to Dave Grohl.
I was stoned at the time. =3DP

Okay, so I was just rubbing it in about the graves thing, it's nice that
people know the article I referred to. But although Chris may have been
joking, he certainly would love to shed this 'perfect guy' image which
some of you guys taint him with, he is just a regular guy.

On a different point. QOTSA are the band formed by Joshua Homme after the
fantastic Kyuss split. When he came back after playing a tour with the
Screaming Trees, he wanted to tour with some of his new demos. Before the
band became Nik Oliveri, Alfrdo Hernandez, and Dave Carching as it is now,
John McBain, and Matt Cameron obliged to play the first shows with Josh
due to the Desert Sessions link. So, that is how Matt got to play with
Josh and the Queens. BTW, if you get a chance to see the Queens, do it,
they rock.
Johnny.

awesome. so i got a Kyuss cd("wretch") and it SUCKED(note the caps). are
Queens... better? i just hated the singer from Kyuss with all my heart but
Josh is cool. of course on Wellwater he was singing stuff by matt and john
mcbain and i don't even know if he played guitar on it at all

i think a "newbie" is not someone who is new to Soundgarden, but is someone
who has recently joined the list and sends nothing but ignorant, pointless
messages that no one wants to waste valuable reading time on <cough cough>.
Newbies don't have to be a problem or an annoyance. i would even propose a
two week period in which a new member does not post, just so that they get
used to the information that circulates. hell, maybe they'd even learn some
new amazing things about Soundgarden that way.

flame away...

Okay then, flames ahoy!

The only thing that annoys me on this list is
oldbies(sic) who persistantly post crap like this
complaining about new people. If you spend two weeks
getting used to the information that circulates on
this list you'd get the impression that as long as you
patronise more than five people with your post, you're
set. And for gods sake don't share your thoughts on
Soundgarden, that is *not* what we want to hear on a
Soundgarden mailing list! I don't know where you lot
get the idea that because you've been on the internet
for longer and/or know more anally retentive trivia
about SG that you are somehow *better* than everyone
else. We're not impressed. Jeez, get a life already.

There's my contribution to the "pointless messages
that no one wants to waste valuable reading time on."
Hopefully I adhered to all the posting rules I picked
up after my two week innitiation.

Jay.

Hey y'all,

I know we've all been bickering at each other as of late. I mean, its like
cabin fever, a bunch of 15-30 year olds stuck in a cottage with nothing to
do, with every single topic of Soundgarden expired, we now talk about each
other. Which is...getting cool. :) For me, cause its funny seeing how stupid
each post can get. But enough of my ramblings. What my real purpose for here
is to ask a question, and start a thread. I was on 5H as of late, and I
noticed that Ed did a Who tribute concert (very cool Ed, props to you). But
I mean, wasn't PJ supposed to be in studio right now? Well, I guess they
aren't seeing how Stone is also in New Mexico producing an album (I could be
wrong on the name...oh well). But, what the hell is Matt doing? Is he
writing material for Wellwater, spending time with A & R, vacationing in the
South Pacific (as he should, by golly, the man deserves it!), or jamming
with Chris, Kim and Ben on a super secret project (I wish.). So, what's he
doing? And what do you all think he'll be up to later? Wellwater tour? I
personally can't wait for the next batch of stuff he'll come out with.

Gimme some mo'

(the insatiable) Dave
