Subject: another humble suggestion

Tonight, while IMing each other, Catherine and I were reading old
archived digests and we had a great time reminiscing and refreshing our
memories. In addition to reading the FAQ and histories, I suggest that
you newbies take some time to read the digest archives. I know that
sounds like a formidable task, but no one is going to give you an exam
on them or expect you to do it all at once, front to back, and I know
some people have limited time. But now and then, just read one or two.
There is a lot of info about the band, certainly, but also lots of
humor, philosophizing, and reliving the joys and mysteries of
Soundgarden. Personally, I think anyone joining a list should look at
the archives first (if such are available) to get a feel for what the
list and its members are like, what priorities and preferences are, and
how to avoid making a faux pas. But beyond all that, it can be just
plain fun (and quite addictive) to read those old posts.

Subject: bashing the newbies

First of all I'm tired of all u ppl bashing the newbies. I'm not a newbie I
liked SG for 10 yrs....but those who started good for them. They started
liking them because of the MUSIC. Who cares about the bands PAST and
HISTORY, of their personel lives. The music is all that matters. And I think
thats what SG is all about. They don't want us to read all this bullshit
about crap.....
If I misunderstood u guys I'm sorry..but since I joined the list which is
not long ago, thats all u guys talk about.....Suggestions for the newbies.

Has anyone else noticed the bio has changed on the official site? It's much
longer, there's lots more quotes from Chris and info on the album - and it
does actually contain biographical information.

Subject: to ben or not to ben, that is the question...

This came via personal email to a friend of mine from the Seattle
Sidewalk staff. I know it SAYS Ben is playing, but that doesn't
guarantee it. He was listed in the ads to play the Portland show last
March and didn't, and last I heard Pete had a whole new bunch backing
him up. Still, it is worth going to anyway, if you get the chance, and
if anyone gets any definite info as to whether Ben is playing or not,
please let me know.

There is the Seattle Space Needle. The Underground town thing(filled with a
bunch of shops). Pacific Science Center. Gameworks. Then not too far away
in Auburn theres the Super Mall. Then theres one that everyone will like
the statue call "A Sound Garden" never seen it but might be nice or at least
interesting. Theres a few others but this should be enough to convince your
parents.

Subject: How I got into SG

Brief Bio:
Every since I was 9 (I'm 15 right now almost 16) I said I liked Soundgarden
though I never actually heard them. I wanted to be like my big brother Rob
and I kinda liked the name SG. But the first the first full SG song I heard
was during the summer of 1997 and It was Burden in my Hand. That blew me
away. I rushed out and bought the album then a month later found that SG
broke up. Then I bought SU, TOTD, Singles, UMOK, and my brother gave my
BMF. I was a SG fan 4 years before hearing them. Weird Huh.

Subject: Interpretation

I forget who said it but someone asked about a interpretation of SG songs
web site. Well I was thinking it might be a good topic here for the list.
Taking some of the more complex songs and breaking them down for some of us
that can't seem to find meaning to them. It'd be cool to see people views
on songs and how they interperet the songs. Since we still have sometime
before Chris' new album comes out. Tell me if anyone else thinks this is a
good idea and if so what song are they having trouble interpereting if any.

Yes! If anyone wishes to know, the SG Song Interpretation Page *is* still
up and running- I just added a few new interps and made the page navagatable
(is that a word?) by author as well. I would *looove* more interps, it's
been a whlie since anyone has sent me any. If you're new to the list, and
want to check out the page, by all means, do!

Low and behold, it's 1:00 am in Newcastle Australia, and none other than =
the video for Jesus Christ Pose is on tv!! I'm about to die of shock =
here people, and you'll never guess who the guest programmer is that put =
this on, *shudder* Marilyn Manson.
I guess the old crooner has a soft spot for good music in his spare =
time. =3DP=20
I have a few questions about the JCP video.....like where was the video =
shot? That wasteland looks far from good ole Seattle, and what's the =
freaky stuff going on in the sky? Oh, and in the trippy fast sequences, =
is that the Terminator? I thought this clip was made before just before =
T2 came out, perhaps some clairvoyance on Terry Date's behalf (He =
produced BMF, but did he have much to do with the video's? IE were they =
included in his productio or did they get someone else to work on with =
it?)

One last note - The song preceding JCP was an L7 song, and the song =
after it, is *ugh shudder* mmBop.=20
You know I've just noticed, that while SG seemed to just waddle by =
(During '94 they got fairly popular but other than that their interests =
were pretty much singled out to "grungers"), and it seems as if no one =
knows them, all of a sudden everyone who identifies me with being an SG =
fan is like "Hey, did you hear Soundgarden are getting back together? =
They're pretty good you know". No shit fags.
Is anyone else having this situation with people they know?

Hope my post is plenty SG full. =3D)
