Marco, I hope you're a newbie, otherwise I'm going to start feeling
really invisible, since I've posted till I was blue in the face about
Ben's activities over the past year- the Mark Lanegan tour and Pete
Krebs and Gossamer Wings (including being THE bassist on the Sweet Ona
Rose album). And if you ever want a rundown on Ben's post (and pre-) SG
pursuits, just go to my webpage at
http://www.citynet.net/personal/sightsound/

Desert Sessions stuff can be ordered direct from Man's Ruin at
www.mansruin.com.

If you read what I wrote in the brackets, you will know that what I =
meant was as far as popularity/Publicity goes, after Ten they stopped =
making video's, sure Vs debuted very highly in the charts, but by "crawl =
up and die" I meant that attempted to avoid popularity/publicity. And =
let's face it, Ten was the best album. =3D)

This is a little strange, but didn't somebody just ask why the domain wasn't
up? And now, bam, it's up. Yes, there are some Interscope lurkers watching
this list.

me off to think mtv will probably only play it for about 3 weeks before
cutting it loose and go back to carson daly playing the backstreet

SOMMSters and Soundgardeners everywhere request and request the new video.

Did anyone notice that the title of the homepage (index.html, not main.html)
for www.chriscornell.com is "Def Leppard"? In fact, it looks like the only
title in the site the other pages don't have titles at all. I suppose
Chris is going on tour with a Union Jack t-shirt and legwarmers.

I think since Def Leppard's new album is called Euphoria, the genius' at the
web page design company that was contracted by Interscope to make the site
made the stupid mistake of doing that.

I will so spend my cash at the "Online Store"..I am seriously salviating

Subject: Newbies

Okay, I just have one thing to say, I don't comment on the goings-on of
the list very often, but I'd like to make one little suggestion. As far
as I know, this is not the Soundgarden Orientation List. I'm all for
people learning about sg, it would be sacreligious to say otherwise, but
if we could please just stop posting what we learn about sg in rolling
stone on the list, I know it would make a lot of people happy,
especially when the aforementioned try to defend their facts they got
from one source. And about saying how our day went and talking about
other bands and such, acting hostile about it isn't going to gain you
any brownie points with anyone. I don't even know who said it because I
deleted it so fast. This is a SOUNDGARDEN list. Please go to another one
if you don't like it. Sorry to bother everyone with yet another attack
on the poor newbies.

On a relative note, I got a 45 awhile back with BHS as the a-side, and
Spoonman as the b-side. Just wondering if anyone could tell me how that
could happen, if it was an early early single or a promo or what. Thank
you for your time.

It's a jukebox 7". Please read
http://www.sgi.net/soundgarden/releases/sing-bhs.html, as this is not the
Soundgarden Orientation List.

And now, to everyone: SOMMS doesn't have a whole lot of rules, and the rules
that do exist can essentially be reduced to "Think before you post." That
said, if it's not about Soundgarden, don't post it. However, in my old age
I've gained an appreciation for the occasional off-topic post: the Morphine
and SY situations affect us as people in the music community, so I don't
mind a single broadcast about them. However, I don't need 20 messages of
follow-up telling these people that their posts are irrelevant.

People new to the list or to Soundgarden are encouraged to read the FAQ and
band history sections of the site, and to use the Web as their first source
of factual information about the band. If you want to discuss something, by
all means post it.

Topics do get re-hashed when there are new people. I think it's something
that we long-time list subscribers just have to get used to.

I like it when people transcribe articles so I can read them- I don't
think that's what you're talking about here, I just want to chime in and
say I do appreciate transcriptions of articles being posted to SOMMS.

And, if we're not going to talk about Soundgarden, then I'm subscribed to
the wrong list... It's really not so bad, is it, to read stuff you already
know? I'm just saying...

Since I've come out of lurker mode... does someone on here have a song
interpretation site? (Arden?) If so what is the URL and is it Soundgarden
only? What is the submission policy?

To the person going to Seattle: has someone given you directions to the
weather service sound garden yet? You should take your family there.

I was thinking about Chris' fork necklace the other day. It sort of looks
like a hand flipping the bird. I know, that's a dorky thought. That's why
I usually stay a lurker.

In regards to the whole Def Leppard thing:
Chris Cornell has what's called a "sense of humor" (<---Matt doing his best
Dr. Evil Voive and quotation fingers). It could be a tongue-in-cheek
reference to the similarly titled albums (Chris' euphoria Morning and
Leppard's Euphoria.) Or it could just be a random funny thing. I remember
when I saw Wierd Al two years ago, his drummer had "The Beatles" painted on
the head for his Kick drum. I think it's the same thing. Chris Cornell:
Wacky Guy.

shows that what the Cat says is true.. it was a rush job. Even though it's
kinda pretty. Any bets that the title will be changed in a jiffy? once the
interscope personage read their email! Does anyone actually think Laura
Swanson's email will work?? Didn't last time.. kind of shitty that they
would bother putting "for more information..." in the first place, drawing
in hundreds of people like me asking relatively dumb questions and not
wanting to answer them. Maybe she is a new employer and it's the crap job to
get her started.. that's how it works in my new job anyway! heheh..

enough of my blabbering..

to my astonishment, i actually did get in contact with her, probably in late
june or so..the only thing she could confirm at that point was that chris
would definitely play in los angeles, no surprises there!! otherwise she
gave the same spiel we've all heard countless times, "information will be
released as it comes." but she's quite nice and does her best to accommodate
your questions... i wrote her again recently to see if i could pry something
more out of her... i have yet to get a reply!!

Subject: chris..are you there?

the following is an excerpt off Five Horizons from a secret show that vedder
did in encinitas, ca (near san diego) a friend of mine who attended this
shindig swore on a stack of bibles that chris was spotted in the audience, an
audience consisting of barely 400 people, and not by him of course...which is
why i still question such an occurrence...
but here's another report from another fan, proving that whether in
attendance or not...chris is still in the hearts and minds of many!

<< Someone in the crowd raises their voice and says, "Play 'Footsteps' for
Chris." Ed pauses and says, "Chris who?" The delayed response is "Cornell."
Ed responds, "Why would Chris Cornell want to hear that?" pauses, looks out
into the audience and says, "Is he here?" No one answers so Ed moves on. >>
