This video thing on total request is a pretty cool idea. However, it would
be difficult to pull off and even if we did get the votes, I'm not positive
MTV would play the video. I'm not joking. They might think it was an error
or would just decide to ignore it. Just a thought.

  Where have you guys been hanging out..... Outer Mongolia???? Yes, we had
a winner on this list. HER name is Vikki. She is a looooooooong time Somms
member. Whenever she and Chris have their "lunch" I'm sure Vikki will let
us know. She has always been one to share her experiences and stories with
us quite eloquently.
   And for all you green-eyed monsters who want to accuse others of lying.

Sorry, this is a bit off topic, but I came across this news item, which
might interest some of you.

Deb

HOLLYWOOD (Variety) - Herb Alpert and Jerry Moss, the "A" and "M" in A&M
Records, are expected to file a $20 million breach of contract suit against
Seagram and its Universal Music Group, claiming that the label has been
destroyed in the months following Seagram's acquisition of PolyGram.

Alpert and Moss founded A&M Records in 1962 and sold it to PolyGram for $500
million in 1989. A highly unusual provision in their sale agreement mandated
that the integrity of the label be maintained for 20 years.

But as a result of the $10.4 billion acquisition of PolyGram by Seagram's
Universal Music Group last year, A&M has been folded into Interscope
Records, and most of the artists are being jettisoned from the label's
roster....

<snip snip>

....Alpert and Moss would like to see A&M Records restored and stand again
not merely as an imprint but as a symbol of an artist-friendly outpost.

To Kyle~
     my brother is a HUGE phan (hehe pun intended) of the group phish and the
internet phans united one day and casted over 5000 something votes on 4/20 of
this year to request the one and only phish video.....technically, they
wouldve had enough votes to get them on the top 5 list that day but Mtv
refused to play it....... apparently the name of the show should be "Total
Request if it just so happens to be a new and "hip" videos that the kiddies
will like, Live" instead... I would be totally for it if I thought it may be
worth my time but it ISNT..... so save yourself the trouble and write to VH1
rock show or 120 minutes or something...... youll get much more success.....

A lot of people have been saying this same kind of thing, but why? I mean,=20
even if it doesn't work out, it's not like it would be hard or take that muc=
h=20
out of our time to vote for a video. About voting for JCP, it's not entirel=
y=20
likely that we'll get a video, so I don't think it would be wise to vote for=20
a video that was banned from MTV. If something's banned, they probably won'=
t=20
make an exception and let it back on the air just because newer videos are=20
more risqu=E9. Flower or another rare video would probably be a bad idea to=
o=20
since MTV wouldn't want to go through the trouble of digging it up from=20
whatever archive it's hidden in. I say the best bet would be any somewhat=20
common, unbanned video that isn't Black Hole Sun, since that's the song=20
everyone's heard and the video everyone's seen (notice it's always on=20
people's top 10, 50, or whatever lists, no matter what kind of music they=20
play--like when N'Sync had that favorite video list thing). I think the lis=
t=20
we could choose from is Outshined, Rusty Cage, Spoonman, My Wave, The Day I=20
Tried To Live, Fell On Black Days, Pretty Noose, Burden In My Hand, or Blow=20
Up The Outside World. Any video I didn't list is either too uncommon,=20
banned, or, in the case of Black Hole Sun, too common.

     Guys, lets just keep in mind that that TRL's main viewing audience is 13
year old teenie-bopper girls looking for 'N-Sync, Backstreet boys or another
one of those suck bands...they also vote for Korn and Limp Bizkit...they have
put shame to the name of rock...anyways, if I may throw my two cents in, I
think we should choose a mild video, since we don't want scar any of these
little girls...just a thought.

To hell with that! I say, scare them into better music! :). That's how I got
into Soundgarden anyway....well, actually, I was repulsed by most of the
songs on Superunknown when I first listened to it. Maybe we'll get some new
fans by this voting stunt?

If we're really going to do this, pick a date, and give the link of the
voting page to the list. I doubt we'll even come close to 25 votes, but at
least we tried.

My vote goes for Pretty Noose, not-the-one-where-the-band-is-playing
version, since I've never seen the whole thing.

ok..this isn't really serious, but I thought you guys should know anyways.

This Monday, the popular internet game, Hollywood Stock Exchange will
re-open to include the Music Market. I played this game for a long, long
time (and am damn good), and this is just making me want to play more. How
the HSX works is that certain movies and actors are valued at a certain
amount of dough. For more info on financing, just go there. But for this
music market, I'm sure Chris Cornell's album will be up there to bid on. All
in all, good healthy fun, and be sure to check it out:
http://www.hsx.com
Its down now, but it will be back up soon.

Dave
P.S. My user name is CCornell, so if you want to check up on me, go for
it...I'm around 12000 (out of 250k+)
