Subject: Soundgarden on ESPN

On "NHL tonight" (on ESPN 2) for Tuesday, one of the hosts during the
player of the night type thing said, "What Chris Cornell was to
Soundgarden, Vaclav Varada was to the Buffalo Sabers tonight". Some
writer at ESPN2 like soundgarden, I guess.

Also, VH1 begins some new rock-type show on monday (I think it may be
where they show more hard-rock-oriented videos), but on the commercial
for it there are three quick clips from the Black Hole Sun video. So
maybe, just maybe, we'll be seeing more soundgarden on VH1; but I bet
they won't be playing, for instance, "Flower" ;)

BTW, I've enjoyed all the suggested soundgarden experiences so far, i'm
all for keeping 'em coming.

Interesting point's you raise. Probably the only
negative thing I've ever had against Soundgarden (or
Chris at least) is the attitude to touring. I've read
Chris saying in interviews, that on long tours he
would have to get drunk before a show to able to do
it, and would often forget lyrics and stuff. He said
this light heartedly as if it was perfectly
acceptable. But it's not. Most people will get
bugger all opportunities to see their fav bands play
live, and they don't deserve to be disapointed by a
crappy show. Some of these bands just don't seem to
realise they are playing to different crowds on these
tours, they just see each crowd as the same, and so it
doesn't matter if they do a rubbish show tonight,
because they'll do a better one tommorrow. But the
people who paid exactly the same amount for the
rubbish show won't get to see a good show. If you're
going to charge money for people to see you, you'd
better be bloody professional about what your doing.

If they're not prepared to deliver a quality show
every time they go out on these tours, then they
shouldn't do so many venues, or maybe not tour at all.
This is not only aimed at Soundgarden, but any of
these bands who aren't consistant. It seems to be a
'rock' thing. Aw well, enough hand wringing.

My point about their live show wasn't to say that maybe they were off that
night. Each tune I've heard from the band, especially "Vintage Eyes,"
sounds like someone else before them.

Rock 'n' roll shouldn't just be like some feelgood movie that makes
you forget how dull your life is for an hour or so ... it should
fire you up to do something about it.

Anyone who thinks that Days of the New is a band is quite wrong. Meeks IS
Days of the New (said so in an interview october 98). He said he's a kind
of Lenny Kravitz, that the other members (except for the bassist or drummer)
do not contribute at all when it comes to writing songs... blabblablab.

Anyway, to sum it all up, he has talent and I like his stuff. As for his
attitude, well...

The shows I saw were held before the Metallica tour.

The funiest thing about the Montreal show was that before they hit the
stage, a whole group of about 30 or 40 people were screaming "CHRIS CORNELL!
CHRIS CORNELL! CHRIS CORNELL!" I approached one of them and asked why they
were screaming that. He told me that they all thought that Travis looked
like Chris and that they were all fans of Soundgarden. :)

Rediscovered SOMMS today. I had not listened to it in nearly a year. It
brought back some pretty good memories.

Does anyone know why the demo for Metallica's 'Until It Sleeps' was called
'Fell On Black Days'? Just curious.

have it here too), there
were some news on
cornell's upcoming
solo album, mainly that
there's a song on it that's
dedicated to jeff buckley.

I saw that. I don't know why they keep saying it will start coming on
in
May. It already comes on. 12 (central time) I believe. They
played
Rusty Cage last night. It all went down hill from there, of course. I
hope they play Flower, too. Maybe if they were bombarded with enough
e-mail......I know this wouldn't have worked with that god-awful little
mtv
request show like somebody pointed out a while back but this is a little

   different.
