Good Lord! I cannot imagine being so rude and presumptuous as to just
walk into someone's dressing room! They are human beings. They have as
much right as anyone to their privacy.

Yeah, but he's his *own* U-Haul :-) With a favourite cause to support and a
new career to promote.
Personally I think Chris can be proud of the money he raised; he had some
tough competition from the custom made dog kennel and the beanie baby
collection!

Yeah, no kidding. If he had waited outside he probably could have
talked to them for longer and got autographs.

No offense to anyone here. The ones that would rather spend the money on
other things, rather then spend it on lunch with
Chris Cornell are missing the point of the whole thing.I will say it
here,it's for CHARITY.That is a good cause,somewhat less selfish
then spending the money on CDs,concerts, whatever. And spending your hard
earned cash toward a humanitarian cause should give
anyone a really warm fuzzy feeling all over.Ok,I'll step off my soap box now.

i understand that. you will see, if you read my post again, that i DID
mention it was for charity. i'm sorry if i do not want to spend thirty-six
hundred dollars on lunch with someone. even if chris wasn't going for charity,
i wouldn't want to spend almost four grand on it. and if he was doing this for
something other than charity, someone would still find some kind of reason to
stick up for the person who, in my opinion, spent entirely too much money.
especially if she has met the guy before. it's really just weird to me.

charity donations, to me, do not consist of being bribed into it by the fact
that lunch with some rock star name is up for sale. charity donations are
given w/o big name deals to make the deal taste sweeter. you see, that's where
it's not completely charity to me. it's selfishness there too. you're not
giving to charity, you're being given something tangible back other than the
warm fuzzy feeling. and the warm fuzzy feeling, i assume, is not coming from
charity origins...

i am NOT knocking cornell for doing this, and i am NOT knocking the bidders &
she who won. it's all just weird to me, the price he went for. i've just got a
lot more hanging over my head than to throw $3600 to a charity auction or even
fathom being able to do so... just seems like a whole lot of money to me, but
hey- have fun vikki...

take harm if you want. [again, the prerequisite disclaimer that must be on any
somms post anymore...sigh..]

If I could afford it, I'd do it...then again, I love animals. Not much in
this world I'd be willing to toss that kind of cash at, but something like
that to ME is well worth it - if they wanted to throw Chris in the deal, cool
with me. Walk into an animal shelter..come out and see how much your opinion
has changed on what you'd be willing to give. Cause in reality - this ISN'T
about Chris.

Hey guys

I must have missed a post.. who is vikki? I'm guessing it's the person
who won the lunch with chris thing..? could someone send me the post or
something?
Anyway i think even though it might be scary to meet him, and that
3,600? is alot of money.. i'd probably jump at the chance if it was
offered to me (and be a nervous wreck in the meantime). But you guys who
are saying it wouldn't be great.. and how terrible it is to auction
someone off, I think you're just a teeny bit jealous.. so what if you're
paying to be with him, it's still HIM.. the HIM we've all dreamed about
and drooled over and hootchied-on about.. true, he's just an ordinary
person (with extraordinary talents/body/voice), but wouldn't you just
love to get inside that head? hear how he describes the weather, see
what he thinks about world issues?
And Rachel.. i would rather be awkward knowing i paid to be having lunch
with him than not have it at all! Remember HE put himself up to it.. no
one dragged him kicking and screaming "you mUST sell yourself off!! your
torso will bring in the big bucks!".. Sure you're renting him out.. who
cares? is that really terrible if he's willing to do it?? That is the
whole idea of this sort of auction thing.. the money goes to charity,
not his pocket like he's a prostitute or whatever.

>Don't get me wrong. Vikki, I'm *so* excited for you, and I'm sure
you'll
>love every minute of it. Its just something that I wouldn't do.

if i was Vikki, i'd be kinda pissed by hearing this.. eheh total
jealousy! Vikki.. have a fantastic lunch and don't give a rats about how
it came about!

>(IWIWSS) <---kinda...not really anymore...)

why is that, rachel? ;) eheheh

You know, I couldn't really give a rats ass about the moral and ethical
questions that come up about spending $3,600 to charity for lunch with
the ex-lead singer of the band this mailing list is about, but what I do
want from Vikki, and I hope this isn't a daunting task (well, its more
of a favour) is a step-by-step analysis of every single song on Chris'
new album. In fact, bring a tape recorder....or DAT tape if you can. I'd
pay upwards of $5,000 to hear new material that I haven't heard in 3
years or so from him....and like in 5-6 months in advance...So Vikki, if
you're out there, at least write notes for us. You are the chosen
one...:)

Dave
P.S. A tape recorder WOULD be nice...and appreciated by all..:)
P.P.S. Also see if you could get him to do something for us SOMMSters,
like an e-mail, or special gathering, or special internet thingy that we
could do..I dunno..just running ideas...

Maybe you could tie him up, stuff him in your car, and take the man home
to perform all kinds of acts on him.
Gimme a break.

Yeah, and ask him to write a song for somms. And don't forget to record
it, preferably on DAT. Take a portable 4-track if you have one. Make
sure you mic him real well too. Shit, make it a 16-track. You'll need
mics all around him at the table, and one in the bathroom in case he
takes a whiz. Also get his address and phone number and send it to the
list.
