I've had an image in my head from the beginning of the discussion about
that auction. I worked at non-profit organizations for years as a social
worker and I know the kind of people who generally give lots of money to
these things. I picture poor Chris at lunch with either some nouveau
riche socialite type who will take it quite literally that he or she
"bought" Chris for lunch, or a rich old lady who plans on leaving her
vast fortune to her thirty cats. And neither of these people would give
a damn about Chris' music.

Personally I think Chris would have preferred having lunch with one of
us. At least we'd have something in common with him....or if nothing
else we'd certainly be devoted :)

And I agree with Lance - $3600 is too low for our boy. Just proves my
point that they just didn't appreciate him like we do.

Many times on this list I have been the poster that has actually said
the things I know so many of you are thinking but never actually say.
Continuing in this tradition....

I know most of you would *die* to have lunch with Chris. But did any of
you actually picture how he'd act?? He seems to be a somewhat shy,
reserved man. I think lunch with a total stranger would make him squirm.
I would definitely pass up the chance to see that. That doesn't mean
that I'm a "bad fan" or whatever. I don't love him any less than the
rest of you do.
In any event, I have a feeling that a few of you know exactly what I'm
talking about :)

PS---all you iMUSIC people...we need to get our act together.

The lunch and listening hasn't taken place yet, but rest assured when it
does, Chris _will_ be having lunch with one of us
-- I won the bidding frenzy. :-)

I agree that Chris is "reserved," and I thought about this seriously
before I made a firm decision to bid on the lunch. In consideration of
Chris, I asked if my boyfriend could join us. I've been told by PAWS
that this shouldn't be a problem. I assume that Chris won't be alone
either. It's been explained to me that the lunch and listening is
supposed to be extremely informal. I'm a serious fan and so is my
boyfriend. We'll treat him with the respect he's earned. I've met Chris
a couple of times and seen how inappropriate some fans act around him.
He's surprisingly poised when it comes to handling awkward situations --
even graceful.
