>From the April edition of Metal Hammer (out today in the UK):

*************

CAMERON:"I'M NOT JOINING PEARL JAM."

Former Soundgarden drummer Matt Cameron has denied reports that he's joining
Pearl Jam on a full-time basis. Talking exclusively to Metal Hammer, Cameron
says of the situation: "I stepped in to help out the band on their US tour
last year when Jack Irons was taken ill and I will be involved to some
extent on Pearl Jam's new studio album [recording is expected to start in
April], but I've made it clear all along to everyone concerned that I'm not
interested in joining the band permanently. I've got too much else happening
to make such a commitment."

One such thing is Cameron's appearance on a track on the upcoming debut solo
album from his erstwhile Soundgarden bandmate Chris Cornell.

"I'm on a song called The Disappearing One. For me, it wasn't at all strange
working again with Chris. It may sound arrogant, but I genuinely believe
that I'm the only drummer who has a real rapport with him. I've only done
the one track, with Josh Freese [Guns N Roses, The Vandals] and Victor
Indrizzo [Scott Weiland] doing the rest, but I've hard some of the album and
it's very different from Soundgarden. There's still heavy stuff on it, but
Chris has gone in a more singer-songwriter direction. He's out there!"

Cameron's priority is the Wellwater Conspiracy, the post-psychedelic duo
also featuring ex Monster Magnet member John McBain. they've just released
their second album, Brotherhood of Electric: Operation
Directive(s) on Timebomb Recordings. Full story on this band next issue.

Well, we've solved the third drummer question (if not the PJ drummer
question!) - and Matt's comment that there is 'heavy stuff' on Chris' album
should allay the fears of those who worried that Chris really wants to be
Nick Drake ;-) When I get the next issue in my hot little hands I will of
course type up the WWC story for you all.

This is the best news I have heard all day. I saw the new WWC album in
my local HMV store, proving to me that WWC has finally become
mainstream...so put that in your pipe Britney Spears, you got another
thing coming....

And we just get one song on Chris' new album! The name really, The
Disapeering One...and its gonna have some heavy stuff there!

And WWC looks like there gonna tour!

And if you live in Canada, stay tuned to Muchmusic for my Speakers
Corner request...so I requested Rocket From The Crypt...phtt..

My life rules....course, I don't wanna get into that really on SOMMS. I
have the feeling no one wants to know how good I'm doing now...

Dave

If so, we can almost be totally assured that it won't be played =
live...unless Matt tours with Chris.=20

<'the disappearing one ....' maybe something haunting and soulful?

I agree. It also sounds like it could be about his tendency(I know I =
didn't spell that right) to be reclusive. Whatever it's about...I'm sure =
it will be good.
