Isn't Macy's a flea market??

Anyway, I've always thought Soundgarden defied musical categorization.
They're definately not metal, never were alternative. I feel a little
more comfortable calling them hard rock, but they don't fit in that
glove either.

For anyone in NYC, Venus Records on St. Marks Place (between 2nd and
3rd) had a copy of BMF/SOMMS for $16 as of about 1pm today...

Soundgarden was a little of everything...in their early days up to
Badmotorfinger they had a metal/hard rock type of sound...in Superunknown they
changed a whole lot. Matt's drum set changed, and the distortion, guitar
sound and guitar riffs all changed, I'd probably categorize it as straight
Rock (with a soundgarden touch)...and in DOTU, the other guitarist in my band
seems to think they "wussed out" which I must admit they did, although Matt's
set stayed the same, and the guitars sounded the same, DOTU seemed more of a
personal album, the lyrics in my mind are more poetic and the music isn't as
distorted, making it "fresh and clean." I don't know what I would categorize
DOTU as...because it has so many styles in 16 songs...from that classic feel
in Tighter and Tighter, to the mezmorizing sound of Burden in My Hand, and
Blow up the Outside World to the depressing tone of Zero Chance and Boot Camp,
to lastly, the best song to listen to while under the
influence...Overfloater...I probably like DOTU the best because of it's many
styles...
