I finally saw Chris on that Heart special. His comments about the Wilson
sisters' side band (the Lovemongers) were very interesting. He said how great
it can be to find the creative freedom outside of your own band and that it
can even add to the band when you return, because you can bring more to the
table and you realize that you should maintain that sense of freedom, even
when you are writing with the band.

I wondered if he was insinuating anything about the SG breakup or, better yet,
if he was yearning to eventually "bring more to the SG table."

I certainly like to think that he is planning on bringing more to the
soundgarden table. They know their stuff, and it's only a matter of time
before they get back together.

no, it isn't.

soundgarden recorded their parts in seattle, brian may recorded his dinky
little solo in new york, and then chris mixed them together.

it is possible, however, that the band recorded it "live" in the studio.
or maybe beinhorn's production just sounds more live than date's did on
_badmotorfinger_ (which wouldn't be difficult).

the consensus is that the _alternative nrg_ version of 'new damage' is
much heavier than the original (although the original is still the better,
imho). if you haven't heard it, go out and find it. it's just about the
only instance where soundgarden re-recorded one of their own songs.

now if only they'd reform and redo _ultramega ok_...
