Subject: CC on VH1

Hi Y'all,
I just saw a few CC clips (commenting on that "VH1"s" "Behind the Music"
special on "HEART", which brought back some old memories of that night
that I got to meet CC in this small club in NYC in late '87. I had no
clue as to who SG were at the time, It seemed, by the crowd, that I was
the only one who had no idea who SG was yet. I watched their stage show
and was hooked from that day on and on...,.> I had a conversation with
CC, but I made it clear that I had never heard of him before. He was
even telling me that their song was playing on the radio, (which I
guess was "Nothing to say"). but I still had never heard of them. CC
told me that he was from Seattle, and the only band that I loved from
Seattle was "Heart". He had told me that he had met them . I responded
on how Ann's vocals had perfected my vocal range and she was the only
musician out there, who I'd love to meet, and just shake her hand, and
let her know how much she's taught me vocally. Keepin' in mind, that
this went down pre-SG. I was just in "awe" when CC said that he had met
"Ann Wilson", CC did tell me that he was on tour, I couldn't understand
how I could have never heard of them , when everybody else knew who they
were.

Well. the moral of the post was to tell you that you can catch a few
glimpses of Chris on TV by watching this show. I'm sure VH1 will be
repeating it.
~~keepin' your GOOG EYE opened!!!

I was even more excited about CC's solo record after that "RS"
interview. I'm happy that Chris is finally getting to do what he wants,
with his vocals. It sounds to be a very diversified album, and I'm all
for that. I've heard CC dabble with some R&B in songs such as "Seasons",
and a few on "TOTD". He only said that he had recorded just one R&B
song, just so he can sing like that. CC is versatile, and I think this
will reflect on his solo record. I always felt like CC's vocals were
always used as an insrument, and he's finally getting the opportunity to
expand in all that.

Does anyone know wether it was S.G or A&M, who wanted to
release the "a-sides" ????

I mean...what kinda shit isn4t it to release that record ??
Did anybody ( The real fans) even want it ??
Or was it Kim who wanted it ??

Wouldn4t it have been cooler to release the great songs from
Fopp and other cool tracks ??
That4s to me,,,a real record......not the most super-famous songs
from every ordinary record..that we already have !!

Well call me stupid but I4m kinda ashamed about it.....
thought it was below Soundgarden to do such
things............

Anyway........Does anyone know where you can find some cool live-videos
with the gods ??
And I don4t mean "Badmotorvision" "Louder than Live"
Please tell me if you know..........

I get the digests, so forgive me if this has been posted already...
Last night around 11:45 PST, I was watching a "Behind the Music"
documentary on Heart and the Wilson sisters and low and behold our
beloved Chris pops up on my tv. I was so stunned, I barely heard what he
said - something about the sisters going from Heart to The Love Mongers
and still being honest musicians. Anyway, VH1, like MTV have a tendency
to run the same show 106 times, so check your local listings if you are
interested...

I was really puzzled over A-Sides as well. I mean, this was a band that
didn't cater to the media and enjoyed being inconspicuous. I remember Kim
once saying that he wished people would just give them the money and not
have to bother with promoting and interviewing and all that media
bullshit. It was a sketchy move on their part. Maybe they had contract
obligations with A&M? Like "You guys have to release so many albums in so
many years, etc., etc.."

According to the VH1 programme schedule, the Behind The Music documentary on
Heart will be repeated on Saturday morning at 8am. It may be on earlier in
the week too (it was on at lunchtime today).

Hope it makes to VH1 in the UK sometime soon!

i think that's the most intelligent thread suggestion i've heard in a bit.

i think matt and ben's would be the obvious: stoner rock, retro 60's garage,
probably a few electro endowed groups, trippy jazz type stuff.

kim would have all the great art punk bands. but y'know what would be cool? if
jack endino and kim did something together.

anyway! last and not least, chris's: probably more pre-punk/stoner bands.
maybe even some post-punk pop poop, probably (how's that for alliteration?).

i'd definately expect plenty of experimental bands from all of them, since
none of sg were really "lookin' for the hooks", as ms. love so put it. i'd
expect good stuff all around. hear that fella's?!?

thanks

I remember reading an article stating that the band still owed A&M 3
more records. The band could have just plopped together any number of
songs, without even being involved with what material they wanted on
A-sides. It also seems that Kim is being very selective about what
material he's going to put on the next two records. The band has no
choice but to put out these records until they finish out their contract
agreement.>

Since the band owes the record company records anyway... if u ask me A-Sides
is a good idea because its like a readio-play record... if someone buys it
because they like BHS or Pretty Noose and want to have it on CD and then like
the other songs and wind up buying more SG albums... than thats great... but
wait... A-Sides, B-sides, what will the be third one??? C-Sides?

Hi Everyone at SOMMS,
I was wondering if anyone has any interest in allowing me to
purchase copies of either Fresh Deadly Rarities, Stolen Prayers, or
both. I am seeking Cd copies but will accept taped copies is the
quality is good. I am a huge SG fan, and am looking to increase my
collection. If anyone can help me out I am willing to pay for the
copies. I really am serious about this, so if anyone of you fellow
SOMMSters can be of help to me, I will be grateful. By the way, might
anyone know if Kim is still residing in Washington State? Thanks again.
