SRV is already a guitar legend, and he only passed away rather recently. He sang and played like a man possessed. Gives me chills listening to him play on 'Texas Flood.' I love Kim to death, but as I've gotten more experienced with music and guitar, his status among my guitar heroes as dropped. Before BMF, his playing was rather tasteless. For his soloing, he'd pick maybe four root notes, then play every single note in between really, really fast. That's not really shredding, since there was no melodic quality to it. It was just sloppy.
