Found this while browsing around. Don't remember anyone mentioning that
Chris was at the video awards or wasn't I paying attention?

AT THE 1998 MTV VIDEO MUSIC AWARDS, Chris Cornell talked with Twiggy at the
Pre-show and the following is what they had to say.
CHRIS CORNELL: "Are you excited about the release of Mechanical Animals?"
TWIGGY RAMIREZ:"I'm kinda excited to see Courtney's breasts actually more
than umm although I've already seen them before but tonight I hope she shows
them."

DURING THE POST SHOW OF THE AWARDS, Chris Cornell then talked to Courtney
Love and Hole about Twiggy.
CHRIS CORNELL:"We talked to Twiggy earlier on who claimed he has seen your
breasts earlier at some point in the day..."
COURTNEY LOVE:"He's seen all our breasts!"
ERIC ERLANDSON:"He has eyes"

entitled "Heavy Hitters in '99 Lineup"

Chris Cornell (A&M)- The former Soundgarden frontman has been one of rock's
most charismatic and compelling figures for well over a decade, but it's risky
for artists when they launch solo careers. Recorded with local LA trio Eleven
in their home studio, the album promises to be a radical departure from
Soundgarden's majestic grunge sound.

I think that was Chris Connelly not Chris Cornell. Why would Chris be
reporting for the MTV Video Awards?

I am just babbling fool really,

Black Sabath, Pantera, Incubus

Ring those bells. It's time for worship.

Seattle isn't just another stop on the big Black Sabbath reunion
tour. This city and the pioneering English heavy-metal band have a
special artistic relationship, one that likely will have an effect on
the sold-out show Tuesday night at KeyArena.

The big question: Will any of the Seattle rock stars who worship at
the feet of Sabbath end up jamming with the band?

It's an intriguing prospect, given the list of possibilities.

First up is Soundgarden, which dramatically acknowledged its debt to
Sabbath with its local-themed cover of "Into the Void," included on a
bonus CD issued with a 1992 repackaging of the "Badmotorfinger" album.
Soundgarden updated Sab's classic song with new lyrics drawn from a letter
written by Chief Sealth in 1852.

But even before this musical tribute to its favorite band, the
members of Soundgarden had often praised Ozzy Osbourne and company as
the major influence on its hard-driving sound.

Soundgarden revitalized and modernized heavy metal in the late 1980s
and early '90s, indirectly helping restore credibility to Sabbath,
which had helped shape heavy metal in the 1970s and had been largely
forgotten by the '90s, except on classic-rock radio.

The next Seattle music figure with strong artistic ties to Sabbath
may come as a surprise: Sir Mix-a-Lot.

The rapper of "Baby Got Back" fame recorded a metal-meets-rap version
of Sabbath's huge hit, "Iron Man." It was on Mix's first album, the
million-selling "SWASS," released in 1988.

Backed by Metal Church (another Seattle band in thrall of Sabbath),
which recreated the original's signature opening power chords, Mix
created a compelling song that had the potential to be a crossover
hit on rock and R&B radio. Mix's boastful rap ("Met Clint Eastwood,
slapped his mama") added levity to the tune. Despite initial
acceptance by radio programmers, and frequent airing of the video on
MTV, it never became a hit. But the interesting experiment cannot
have been overlooked by Sabbath.

The sludgy riffs of Tony Iommi's guitar on Sabbath's landmark first
four albums from 1970 to '73 - "Black Sabbath," "Paranoid," "Masters
of Reality" and "Sabbath, Bloody Sabbath" - are one of the
foundations of the Seattle grunge sound of the late 1980s and early
'90s. From Green River to Mudhoney to Alice in Chains to Nirvana and
Pearl Jam, Sabbath was a primary influence.

Ok, You may already know this but Jeff was nominated for a Grammy in the
Best Male Rock Vocal Performance category. He's up against John Fogerty
(Almost Saturday Night), John Hiatt (Have A Little Faith In Me), Lenny
Kravitz (Fly Away), and John Mellencamp (Your Life Is Now). What I want
to know, is how many of you out there think Jeff is gonna win??? And if
he does win, which I bet he will, who do you think is going to accept
the award on his behalf?? Me and my brother think there could be a
possibility of Chris???? Jeff's mom knows how good of friends they were
so she might ask him to accept it. So what all you think about this???
