Ex-Soundgarden/ Pearl Jam Drummer Revives Wellwater Conspiracy
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
--
(1/5/99, 1 a.m. PST) - Current Pearl Jam and former Soundgarden drummer
Matt Cameron has reunited with John McBain, formerly of Monster Magnet,
under the name of Wellwater Conspiracy.
The group's second album, Brotherhood Of Electric: Operational
Directive(s), is due Feb. 9 on Time Bomb Recordings.

Wellwater Conspiracy was founded by Cameron, who initially performed
under the pseudonym Ted Dameron; singer Zeb, better known as former
Soundgarden bassist Ben Shepherd; and McBain. The three musicians first
recorded together as Hater on a self-titled album released by A&M in
1993.

With the 1996 release of the album Declaration Of Conformity on the
Third Gear label as well as several 7-inch singles, Wellwater Conspiracy
first gained notice.

Three years later, Cameron has taken over lead vocals as Shepherd is no
longer involved in the project. Those expecting a grunge-fest based on
the Cameron's and McBain's previous bands will be disappointed.
Wellwater Conspiracy draws from such influences as the Troggs and the
Nuggets compilation.

Cameron, who is featured on Pearl Jam's Live On Two Legs and the band's
fanclub Christmas single, replaced Jack Irons in April 1998 when the
former Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer was unable to tour "due to health
reasons." It's unclear if Cameron will continue to be in Pearl Jam or
Irons will return to the fold.

Hey all you SOMMSters out there in Soundgardenland.

Since I have been fortunate enough to win some SG items that I didn't =
have from Toni and Eric, I thought I'd have a give away of my own. =
Really, the best way to say thanks is to spread the wealth/joy, right?

So the item I have to give is the hard cover book, Screaming Life, by =
Charles Peterson. It's called "A chronicle of the Seattle Music Scene". =
So it has more than just SG. It has lots of cool photos of Nirvana, =
Mudhoney, Pearl Jam, Greenriver, AIC, etc. There's a hell of a lot of =
photos of Kurt and Nirvana. But it does have some nice pics of our =
boys. It even has one of a young SG. In fact, Kim has NO beard! It's =
the first pic I've seen of him without it. Damn, I got a kick out of =
it!

The book also comes with a CD. The SG track is Entering.

I have two copies to give away. So there will be 2 lucky winners. To =
enter, just send an e-mail to michelle@usatourist.com The winners will =
be selected sometime soon...Maybe next Wednesday?

Since this is my first give away, I'm don't know if bribery or flattery =
will work. But give me your best! You never know. I'd like to see =
what creative things you guys can come up with!

Michelle

are you sure it was "sketches....." that you checked, and not "grace."
believe me i know that chris's name crops up a couple of times in the
notes. i am both a huge jeff and sg fan, so when i found out that chris
and jeff were friends and were into each others music, i took a great deal
of interest. chris infact took what would have been jeff's place in the
production of "sketches." it was jeff's own mother that request he do
this i believe.

Hi,
me again..... (*apologizing;*)
That song Chris Cornell wrote for a soundtrack which name i forgot, was
that about Jeff? Sunflower was it called or something. Beautiful song.
BTW: his solo-album will be released this spring. Is this song gonna be
on it too?

Till soon,
Teddy.

Some fun stuff:>

Plato: "To be is to do"
Sartre: "To do is to be"
Sinatra: "Do be, do be, do"

Birdie birdie in the sky
You let a dirty in my eye
But i don't mind and i don't cry
I just thank God that cows don't fly!

Eat shit, millions of flies can't be wrong.

That's all folks...

from what i've deducted, the song is about the break up of soundgarden. there
have been a few discussions of this on Somms, and that was the general idea
that seemed to keep popping up.

nope.

Saw that Jeff was nominated for a Grammy this year. It's kind of sad
that he had to die for people to actually notice not only his great and
powerful voice but his great musicianship. People have been saying that
Jeff and Chris respected each others music the most, well from what i
hear, there is a huge poster of the "Grace" album cover hanging in the
offices of Silver Management signed by Jeff to Chris. So there you go.
