Hey I think all these posts about production are really interesting. What amazes me even more though, are some of the bands being used for examples. It looks like there are alot of Pink Floyd fans here. I'm a big one myself. I always thought it was somewhat of an odd combination though, Soundgarden and Pink Floyd being my 2 favorite bands. Maybe there's something to it though if there are others weird like me. Zep's another fav of mine too, and I even saw some Tull quoted somewhere. Maybe great minds just think alike. Well, I'm just getting into Pink Floyd (I've got Meddle and Atom Heart Mother), but I've been into Tull for about three years. My first Tull album was Thick As A Brick, actually. It's the one that hooked me and it's still one of my favorite all-time albums today. -- Craig Griffith: High school student, guitar player, King of Craigland http://www.geocities.com/EnchantedForest/Dell/8509/ "I may make you feel, but I can't make you think" -Ian Anderson ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 12 Dec 1998 12:00:10 EST From: Maria Joseph Subject: Re: Buried drums In a message dated 12/10/98 1:39:43 PM Eastern Standard Time, the_cat17@HOTMAIL.COM writes: < That's true actually, because Matt or maybe another band member said that on DOTU that their plan was to bring out the drum sound. Jeff was not a great lover of merchandising, but he had several T-shirts made for his various tours and had planned to make photos and posters available to his fans at a nominal cost to them. In that spirit, I've called on Merri Cyr to help me design a new "So Real" T-shirt, which is now available for you to order through my helpers at Fun Palace Entertainment. 100% of all royalties and proceeds from the direct sales of T-shirts will benefit the Musicians' Assistance Program and Road Recovery, two non-profit organizations in the U.S. Just go to www.jeffbuckley.com to find the order form and shipping information. You'll also see a letter from me explaining why I chose MAP and Road Recovery as beneficiaries for this project. We are also offering posters and photo-post cards free of charge, except for the cost of packaging and shipping them to you (while supplies last). The order form will explain how to get them. I also want you all to know that I'm working on publishing a Jeff Buckley song book, for all of you musicians who've been begging for that, though it probably won't be ready until some time next year. I'll certainly keep you all posted. In case you're wondering, fans who are not on the e-mail list, but who are on the "snail mail" list will get notices from us about everything I'm telling you here, it's just going to take longer for them to find out...so if you know of anyone who might want to get this information who's not on this e-list, please pass the word along for us. Once again, I'd like to express my deepest gratitude to all of you for your kind words and letters of support. I send you all my love and best wishes for the holidays. CTMc4: but i think their previous drummers were kinda to blame for that. LquidSoul: for what? LquidSoul: courdoroy? CTMc4: no for anything. LquidSoul: hmm...jakc irons is boooring LquidSoul: hes the exact opposite of matt CTMc4: i mean, sure it sounded good, but it wasn't anything particularly special. LquidSoul: exactly CTMc4: but i'm still not sure if matt would make a good perminant fixture. LquidSoul: why not? LquidSoul: of course he would LquidSoul: ahh i gotta go LquidSoul: post it to somms CTMc4: one album would be cool, but i think that, ultimately he could . . .well. . . outshine the rest of the band. LquidSoul: NO! CTMc4: bye! LquidSoul: email it to somms so i am. what do you guys think? it's a bit of a twist on the original conversation (and yes i DO remember that). will it be another temple of the dog? will it even happen? now that there's real info out, how about some predictions, oppinions and, inevitably, flames? thanks charlie ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 12 Dec 1998 21:23:45 -0500 From: inri Subject: Re: matt+pj...a new hope >so i am. what do you guys think? it's a bit of a twist on the original >conversation (and yes i DO remember that). will it be another temple of the >dog? will it even happen? now that there's real info out, how about some >predictions, oppinions and, inevitably, flames? well....i think that kind of depends on his role in the band. is he gonna be the hired help, or a full blown member? if he chooses (or is chosen) to take the member part, i can foresee some moogs on the next pearl jam album....which i think would be fantastic. i'd like to hear matt do a whole album of applebite type songs, inri ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 12 Dec 1998 18:24:55 PST From: The Cat Subject: Re: Buried drums >From: Maria Joseph : >That's true actually, because Matt or maybe another band member said that on >DOTU that their plan was to bring out the drum sound. I don't think he said anything about Badmotorfinger, though. /\ /\ 'o' -The Cat ==================== The Ask the Cat page: http://www.geocities.com/Pipeline/Dropzone/8176/ ==================== Don't listen to the evil message below..... ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 13 Dec 1998 15:18:37 +1100 From: Norm Lewis Subject: Re: sg on tv again Rachel Potter wrote: > Dec 13, 1998 12:00 pm TMC Hype! 1996 documentary on the Seattle grunge scene > features interviews and performance footage with Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, > Mudhoney, the Melvins, the Gits, the Posies, Screaming Trees, Gas Huffer, 7 > Year Bitch and others; highlights include Nirvana's first live performance of > "Smells Like Teen Spirit" > that's all > -rachel Funny you should mention Hype! because I had myself a SG related moment the other day. I walked into my mate's house and switched on his TV. He has Pay TV (cable for American viewers) and decided to flick it on to MTV and what should be on but Hype! and which part should it be up to but when SWMGEC is being so wonderfully played. And then, to cap off the day I turned the radio on when I got home and what should be playing but FOBD. True story.
