But the enthusiastic former Soundgarden frontman confided in friends at a party in honor of Nancy and Ann Wilson's Here Is Christmas album, held at Seattle's swank Baltic Room in late November, that he was anticipating a March release. Cornell has felt little pressure to rush out his solo album, perhaps because setbacks, like Daniel Lanois declining Cornell's offer to produce the as-yet-untitled album, have kept fans waiting for more than two years already. However, with last minute details set to wrap up shortly, Cornell is anxious to release his "singer-songwriter-oriented" project to the people. Guests include former Soundgarden drummer Matt Cameron and Vandals drummer Josh Freese, along with production credit by Eleven members Alain Johannes and Natasha Shneider." In a message dated 12/2/98 << All of this talk about these weird little mind games that Chris likes to play...doesn't it make any of you think that Chris is a little...ummm..nuts??...not nuts like severe nuts...but just a little bit off??...I think so, but he probably wouldnt be so *brilliant* without it...and besides..it adds to his mysterious intregue... Rachel* (IWIWSS, Mrs. Spack) >> Here's a combo mind game/fave quote from San Jose '94 (2nd favorite after he introduces My Wave as a new kind of surf music and asks if ''you do alot of surfing in "San Jose"", said in a real funny way): "We were supposed to sign some guitars & this radio station was gonna give them away...we were thinking we'd cut out the middle man & just give them away ourselves...[crowd is roaring with excitement] I can't throw them very far, so it's just going to be somebody out here that gets it [crowd going crazy] Doesn't sound like you guys want one though...[he laughs] ...I'll think about it." --What a tease. Did anyone else notice that alot of the Chris quotes we posted had to to do with being drunk/hostile? (sorry, can't quote them--got too delete-crazy). Does this say something about him? Take 'play' to mean *harmless* and *fun*. I don't think it means he's nuts (what's the difference between 'severe nuts' and just 'nuts'? heheh), it probably comes from the fact that his work is tedious and his quick-thinking mind does what it can to overcome the boredom.. One of these was experimenting with certain subtle effects on his co-workers.. Like Michelle said, it shows his intelligence and sense of humour.. He was studying psychology in a fish and chip shop! What a guy! Who knows maybe he thought up lyrics or songs at these times too..
