Why? --------- Adrian replied: Yeah, well, look at the back cover of "Songs from the Superunknown" and start losing your respect. I don't see how anyone could think that Monster Magnet are one of the post-SG clone bands, considering they've been around for quite some time. Their style may have changed since their first few albums, but the general theme of their music and lyrics has stayed. --------- Nicely put. I don't see how they could be seen as Soundgarden rip-offs either (if that was what Marc was insinuating). Only thing I see that MM could be "ripping off" from SG is the fun-poking of devil music. I'm only taking that from the album photography of Powertrip compared to the lyrics of their songs...I could be getting it all wrong. Also, if MM was touring with SG waaaaay back in 1989.... /\ /\ 'o' -The Cat ==================== The Ask the Cat page: http://www.geocities.com/Pipeline/Dropzone/8176/ ==================== ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 6 Nov 1998 04:36:10 EST From: Niki Freer Subject: Truly's touring. I would forward it to you, but the computer goofed up and it's been lost. grrrrr. damn machine. Ok, Ok, this might seem a little rough, and hi yes I know I haven't written in a while it's just I have had nothing really interesting to say, until now. I really hope that Kim does not join Monster Magnet! Nothing against the band or anything, it is just that I have never really liked them, and in my opinion, Kim as a musician is ten times more talented and deserves better band mates than what would be provided in Monster Magnet! Besides, Kim as every artist has a style of their own, and in terms of sound Kim's is pretty distinctive to say the least, and I just don't think it would mix well with Monster Magnet's sound. I have the largest list of SG boots that i have seen, so there is plenty to trade for. My full list can be found at the link below: http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Palms/6492 I'm still looking for other stuff too so email me if you have other things to trade too. I would very very grateful if anyone could help me out here. THANKS!!!! Here is the original message I wrote for all of you who like to see my name and delete my messages write away: ------------ If Kim wasn't going to "start the fuckin band" and instead wanted to join with another group.....my vote would go for Monster Magnet. Kim Thayil is a fan of them, right? ------------ I thought that would be clear enough...... I speculated Monster Magnet because Kim Thayil is a fan of them (so am I), MM respects SG, SG respects MM given they let MM tour with them, and MM is a great live band (in my opinion). Also, I think Kim's style would go well with MM's style (I could go into detail here but this isn't a MM so..). I was hoping after my post people would name bands that they would like to see Kim join, instead of just outright expressing their dislike of Monster Magnet.... /\ /\ 'o' -The Cat ==================== The Ask the Cat page: http://www.geocities.com/Pipeline/Dropzone/8176/ ==================== Don't listen to the evil message below..... ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 6 Nov 1998 21:22:18 -0500 From: Dave George-Cosh Subject: THE OFFICIAL CHRIS CORNELL WEBSITE!!!!!! I've decided that I have to give my 25 cents to y'all. :)~ (I'll try to recall info) I don't think that Matt will be joining PJ, maybe, maybe not. Who knows, but all that was said was that he was there for touring purposes, (you know that already). There was some small talk about an extra "non-tour" show the band did with Matt on drums and the question popped up about "why?" and all of that.. sooo... to just put my input in, we're just gonna have to wait and see. I'm quite sure that Jack wasn't kicked out or anything, so no matter what he may do with them at the moment I look at it as if he was just filling in and helping out. I wouldn't jump to conclusions about this, but it wouldn't be such a bad thing for Matt. One more thing, this just popped up in my head, but Matt's still got WWC. They've got a new single and album that's coming out so I figure that the guys will be full-on with that. And if so Matt couldn't be in two "full-time", if you may, bands.. well I mean, he could, but.. I dunno.. Sorry this is short but I wrote a whole reply and it never got mailed through somms! Hopefully you'll actually get this one. I think that Kim Thayill joining Monster Magnet would be down right God awful!! I do not mean that as a cut to the band but just in my opinion, Kim's unique sound would not mix well with Monster Magnets. -John _________________________________________________________ DO YOU YAHOO!?
