Little did I know I would be living the song, in a way. When I spun out on the highway this evening, and almost tore the front end of my car off on the guardrail, and my bumper came to rest less than an inch from the guardrail, and ended up facing south on the northbound side of the highway, I called the guy who I'd just dropped off and said, "I need to talk to somebody, I'm pretty freaked out." He told me to come back to his house so I could sit down and he could check out my car & make sure it was ok. I was there until like 2 am. And the Soundgarden connection didn't even occur to me until I realized I'd been "stuck inside and up all night at Dave's." I dunno, it's pretty weird. Still shaken up though. How I got out of that with no damage at all is pretty incredible. -- "Oh, Celine Dion, what have you done?! I was going to make us a family again and now you've slept with Ugly Bob." - Terrance http://members.tripod.com/~DamienGrief ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 19 Oct 1998 23:55:50 +1000 From: Norm Lewis Subject: [Fwd: SETH IS A POOF] This is a multi-part message in MIME format. --------------E574DCC82201C72CF8662DD1 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Sorry but due to a mail server failure on Friday I'm not sure if this literary masterpiece made it to the list. It probably has little relevance now so try and pretend its still Friday afternoon just for me. It'd make me feel special-ish. If this has already been posted to the list then feel free to sledge (aussie term for have a go at) me until such time as I break into tears and question the sexuality of the list operator. There are only 2 people in Australia who still behave in such a disgusting manner and we systematically remove them like you would any termite or roach. Pauline was ousted via the electoral system. I suggest we oust this fool via the electrical system. As for 'roots', that's something us Aussies do when naked apart from showering, bathing and doing the vacuum cleaning. I'm sure 'Roots' clothing would do well round here. Blokes like Satan Leaf would probably wear it thinking that it would increase his chances with the ladyfolk. Wooh now that gotta hurt!! Hahaha Dave P.S. If any wants a guide to any Aussie slang just give me a bell (ie. contact me). Satan Leaf wrote: > HEY SETH, > > What the fuck are you on about? About the influences thing: i have yet to see any of the commercials featuring chris... will Influences be a show, or just a series of commercials? on mtv.com they don't have any air times/dates... How long was the applebite one? a whole 30min or so? Does anyone else think that chris looks like a greasy dave navarro in these commercials... or maybe he looks like scott weiland did in his latest video... oh well, at least he's growing his hair back out. -raceal the anti-anti girl ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 19 Oct 1998 15:37:47 EDT From: James Connolly Subject: Re: SOMMS Digest - 18 Oct 1998 to 19 Oct 1998 >>and first he was singing twinkle twinkle little staar, and then the teacher >>said "let's try something harder... like AVE MARIA"!!!! i saw that. the thing that kicks ass about it is, he doesn't sing the latin version, he sings the Chris version, which wasn't done in such a way before chris did. if i'm not mistaken. fyi that was the show "Recess" hehe, see ya, jimi ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 19 Oct 1998 18:45:20 EDT From: Kathleen Burrows Subject: Helmet in the Bush Hey yall. First off for that Bush stuff in Guitar World, it was in the December 96 issue. Second off, when Bush talked "shit" about SG, they were MISQUOTED. In a later issue (I don't know which one), Nigel the geetarist got pissed at Guitar World, because they printed that he "hated Soundgarden" or somethin like that. In the CORRECT quoting of Nigel, it was printed that he actually LOVES Soundgarden... Just to help everyone out there... Another thing: CHRIS CORNELL LOVES SNAKES!!! I have noticed that for quite some time now. Just flip through yer lyric books and just look for how many times that man mentions snakes. Whatta guy... I love him. x )~ peace, love, hope, faith, soup and s o u n d g a r d e n always groovy, kathleen : )) ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 19 Oct 1998 20:11:18 EDT From: Evan Frees Subject: Re: SOMMS Digest - 18 Oct 1998 to 19 Oct 1998 << Hey Sommsters, as most Soundgarden fans do, I collect b-sides, boots, rarities, etc. However, I have all that I know of except one song : Toybox. I know it exists, so PLEASE if you have it respond to me personally and I'll give you my ICQ # and we can arrange some tradin' to do. >> "Toybox" is actually one of the easiest to find. You need the Flower EP which is still in circulation, it's not a rarity. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 19 Oct 1998 18:24:07 PDT From: The Cat Subject: Re: Helmet in the Bush >From: Kathleen Burrows >Subject: [SOMMS] Helmet in the Bush > > Another thing: CHRIS CORNELL LOVES SNAKES!!! I have noticed that for >quite some time now. Just flip through yer lyric books and just look for how >many times that man mentions snakes. Whatta guy... I love him. Eh....I don't think so. He makes many references to the snake in that lil' Adam and Eve story. The snake tempts Adam to eat the apple, yadda yadda, so thus, the snake can be seen as a negative entity. Eat the fruit, and kiss the snake goodnight. "If you want to spank your demons and make them pay, well baby I m your man of the hour. I don't think its a weird topic, and I think alot of people have gone over and over in their minds the way they wish they had handled a situation. Me and a great group of Sommsters got to meet the band at the last concert I saw. I was in the first group to go back stage and none of us had a clue what to do or say. I wish I had asked Chris if I could get a picture with him. I wish I had been "cool" enough to think of more to say...to somehow extend the moment:) But to be honest my biggest regret as far as Soundgarden goes is that I didn't make a move sooner to get close to them. I started seeing them in concert way back when they were touring with Danzig and I saw them at a few places where I swear the bands use the same bathrooms as the crowd (in other words, security wasn't quite as tight as it was at the end). I've always wished I would have met them then. Unfortunately my husband is too cool to chase celebrities and rather than risk his wrath I just stayed back. If I had been with my SOMMS sisters back then it would have been a totally different story I'll bet. It sometimes makes me sad that this group of people who have been an important part of practically every day of my life over the last 9 years or so are really not a REAL part of my life at all. I know its unrealistic to expect to develop a friendship with someone like Chris, being just little peon me, but who knows what would have happened if I had managed to get close to them back then. They were in Chicago so much I probably could have developed at least a bit of a friendship. Probably sounds stupid to alot of you...oh well.
