Can Someone please give me the address of the SOUNDGARDEN MP3 site? Please as I need it. Thanks ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 13 Oct 1998 11:46:39 EDT From: Matt Hammons Subject: Re: Another CC Influences commercial He talked about Applebite? Jeez how many heads did that sail over, I wonder? I bet he did that on purpose as kind of a veiled jab at a lot of those BHS/SU fans, if you know what I mean. Matt P.S. It's the same thing with that hearse driver commercial, again if you know what I mean. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 13 Oct 1998 11:48:53 EDT From: Matt Hammons Subject: By the way, by the way (Forgive the AIC reference) Is there any possible way to alter the list so that Reply-To is SOMMS@MIT.EDU and not the person who sent the message. I don't know how many times I've sent something to just one poor soul when I meant to pollute all of your minds. Anyway just checking if anyone knows about this. Someone mentioned TOTD mp3's. Well, I've got a small mp3 of Faith No More covering performing a tad of Outshined. I've also got a parody of Black Hole Sun. Anybody who's interested can contact me by ICQ or by email. My ICQ# is 13906169. It's intentionally set that way so you ("you" as in "everyone") *don't* pollute all of our minds with conversations that are best handled privately. As was pointed out earlier, you can just use the "Reply to All" feature in your mail reader. On a related note, I don't really know how much longer the address somms@mit.edu will exist, as I haven't been an MIT student for 16 months now. Please use somms@mitvma.mit.edu instead. [The condensed version of the story is as follows: somms@mit.edu is actually a mailing list that I had created when I was a student and had an MIT account. Later I found out that I was allowed to have a Listserv mailing list created, which would remove most of the administrative duties (bounced mail, digests, etc.) which had before all been handled manually, so somms@mitvma.mit.edu was born. Thus, somms@mit.edu is still a mailing list, with only one recipient: somms@mitvma.mit.edu, which is the real list. I transferred the ownership of the original somms over to a friend of mine when I graduated in the hopes that it would not be deleted. However, she is also no longer a student at MIT, so it could die any day.] -seth listadmin ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 13 Oct 1998 20:30:41 EDT From: Daniel Bolton Subject: Down on the Upside MP3's???? does Anyone know where I can find Down on the upside MP3's...not just Pretty Noose, BUTOW, and BIMH... I don't recall if the members of Eleven came up with the music for chris's Ave Maria, or if they just redid it... but i really don't like it anymore. Had chris done it a capella, and maybe even shorter (who else agrees the song could stop at about 4:35 and sound complete?), the song may have sounded better. i love his vocals, i think they're just as sensuous (not in the sexual way) as many things he's ever recorded, but i do believe i've got a bone to pick with the music. just my intellectual post of the month, i guess. :) and damn wasn't it short compared to some of my former posts! wooooo weee! mindriot ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 13 Oct 1998 21:30:18 -0700 From: "W.H. I've really only listened carefully to one Eleven song, so I'm not an expert. But I can say that I thought the song was very good, especially vocally. I don't think Natasha would be offended hearing that you dislike her singing or music, because it's supposed to be experimental. Any artform that everyone enjoys, I found, is extremely weak and watered down. Anything that actually makes a statement is both loved and hated in equal force (eg Soundgarden). I think Ave Maria is neat as a musical experiment, but I can't listen to it casually without finding it a little jarring, and a little too dark to suit the subject matter. Even when I did think the song was good, I never thought it was any sort of unearthed classic like Seasons was to me. In conclusion, there is good and bad in the song. It's bad in the way it sounds, but good in that it represents a motivation to innovate musically.
