They will still have value as the original form the songs appeared in. The fact that BMF still is in print on cd and available everywhere doesn't devalue BMF yellow vinyl, does it? Somebody stole my cd player out of my locker (I guess I rushed and didn't close the lock properly). Anyway, it wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't for the fact that my really cool Bootleg/Import cd, Mind Riot, was in it at the time!!!!! It was taped from a live concert in the "Nedderland's '92".BMF era. It's funny because they misspelled some of the songs really badly. For example Rusty Lage and Drawing Files. Now all I have left is the empty cd case as a reminder of how awesome my cd was. I'm so mad! If by some miracle any of you happens to have this same exact cd..tell me! I bought it at a cd store, it's like an actual cd that some record company people put out. Barking Dog or something about a dog. I don't know. I'm tired. Good night, kristin. "Help me Obe-Won Kenobi. You're our only hope!" ~i was just watching this. hehe ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 7 Oct 1998 16:38:46 EDT From: Tammy Read Subject: Curiousity strikes again... I just got Inflatable Soule today, (FINALLY!)...anyway, to the question. I was reading the "Thanks!!" on the inside...and it said a whole bunch of names, ones I was interested in were "Karen Cornell, Ed Boyle" Ed Boyle his dad? ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 7 Oct 1998 14:52:17 PDT From: The Koggle Subject: Big Wreck and other Soundgarden children Hey Sommsters, from the point of view of a huge Soundgarden fan, I have been appreciating alot of newer bands that (to me, anyway) have a similar sound to SG. One in particular is Big Wreck. Not only does the vocalist resemble Chris physically, but his voice is slightly similar too. He is able to hit the higher notes (listen to 'That Song', the line 'i really love that tune' and you'll know what I mean). Anyway I know this isn't a Big Wreck mailing list and I have no intention of starting a rush of Big Wreck fans (just like that Days of the New fiasco, remember guys?).... I just wonder if anyone else is noticing that alot of up-and-coming bands seem influenced by Soundgarden. It is giving me a really good feeling because it's as if Soundgarden never broke up (well.. kinda). Am I crazy or does someone else feel comforted by the birth of SG-sounding groups? heheh thanks for listening Koggle ps. I am not anti B-sides at all, Barb, if that was for me. I just don't think ALL b-sides released by the guys should be put out in one neat and easy package. Wouldn't a sample type release be better? i dunno.. just my opinion :) ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 7 Oct 1998 17:51:35 -0400 From: Geoff Subject: wwcml Hey everybody, I'm just writing to announce the new home of Trowerchord, the wellwater mailing list. I cannot say, though, that I see any bands obviously influenced by SG. I mean, we have Creed who are like PJ, SIlverchair who are like Nirvana, and Days Of The New who are like AIC. We don't have anyone who so obviously sounds like SG. On the other hand, of all the "grunge" bands SG is the only one who has lasted as long as 13 years (I wish it were more, but, alas, what can one do?) and any band that lasts that long must have influenced a great many. The reason we got this surge of influenced bands is that the people have grown up- those who listened to SG and the rest of the "grunge" bunch as teenagers are now at the perfect band starting age and so we have our little revival ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 7 Oct 1998 18:05:25 PDT From: rachel reisman Subject: what's the difference? Hey Koggle....whats the difference between "being influenced by Soundgarden" and just being a crappy, knock off?? Pointing out bands that sound like SG is a cool topic of discussion. Especially when it's bands that aren't just copying the sound, they actually are great bands whose influences come out in there music. After all, Soundgarden themselves were like that. You'd have to be deaf not to hear Soundgarden's influences in their music. Big Wreck is one of the bands that I see a lot of Soundgarden in. And yes, their singer does pose a striking resemblance to Chris. It's funny cuz I just started getting into them. Another biggie is Monster Magnet. When I hear them, I instantly think of Soundgarden just by the emotion of their music. Plus, the fact that they are starting to get into the "dreaded" mainstream and giving constant props to Soundgarden makes me respect them even more. Days of the New also has clear Soundgarden influences, though Travis Meeks is a fame-driven, power-hungry low-life in my mind. Wow, that was a lot of hyphens. Creed is another. I love Creed. They're my favorite new band. They too are heavily oriented in the Soundgarden department, although they sound a little more like Pearl Jam on steroids. That's all I can think to say right now. I'll try to think of more later. Mike, the Oh-So-Wise Gallagwar --"You can sing it in your head.
