Being in a somewhat bilingual area i feel it will be offensive if i don't correct you in saying "wa-la!" is really "Voila!". It's french. ;-p C'est francais. Alors... And now for the b-sides stuff. Kris has got most (if not all, huh!?!) of the b-sides i can think of and a great idea there. I am definitely thinking that not every single b-side track is necessary (I know Kris was just listing what b sides exist.. before someone jumps down my throat). As big of a fan as you might be, do you really need two versions of Motorcycle Loop in a release? (wait.. that's already happened hasn't it? hehehe) I also wouldn't put ALL of the tracks from Satanoscillatemymetallicsonatas on a b-sides album due to the fact that everyone practically kills themselves to find it now.. but no one would give a rats ass once they had all the tracks in their paws for half the price (probably, anyway). Wouldn't we all just love to hear someone come on the list next year and say how they bought the SG b-sides album and just HAD to find themselves Somms - the album, because they loved She's a Politician (or whatever) so much? I know I would. I say choose the best remixes/edits and then make the rest of the album stuff you wouldn't hear on the radio.. Hmm what do i mean by that. How about: Girl U Want/ Slaves & Bulldozers / HIV Baby/ Show Me/ Touch Me/ Big Bottom+Earache My eye / Cold Bitch/ I Can't Give You Anything/ I Don't Care About You/ Can You See Me/ Homicidal Suicidal/ Like Suicide /Exit Stonehenge / Spoonman / Birth Ritual /Kyle Petty... / Blind Dogs/ Motorcycle Loop / BHS / New Damage / Karaoke/ Dusty / Fluttergirl/ Cleaning My Gun/ and Ocean Fronts. These are songs that I like or haven't heard. You'll notice that i didn't put too many of the live versions on my b-sides ideal either. I want people searching for boots still. :) I successfully avoided *any* version of Fell on Black Days!! heheh I don't really like the idea of there being 4 discs with each disc being a certain category (like live stuff, b sides of singles.. whatever). It should be blended together and out of chronological order as to give the listener a journey through Soundgarden older and new and then back again. It would be alot more interesting if the sound changed track by track instead of gradually. Not sure if i've made myself clear, but if you'll listen to A-sides you might know what I mean; I would have loved it if Nothing to Say was between 2 of the DOTU tracks. As for the SG video compilation I am not too fussed on the idea. Yes, it would be great to have all the vids at hand on one video, but it seems so *final*, you know?? I would rather people carry on searching for a version of Pretty Noose or convince a music video station (yeah there's way more than just MTV you know.. I have never seen MTV but I have seen all of the Soundgarden videos) to play Jesus Christ Pose, than just go down to their local mall and get everything for $15. It might sound like I am selfish or protective or something, but i know I get alot of enjoyment out of looking for SG items and I know I will continue to do so for years down the track. I don't want someone to hand me every rarity/video on a silver platter. I know that releasing a 'hint' of what SG have done will please existing fans, create more fans, and make them go back to the Soundgarden roots and fall in love, just like O J (the Sommster, not the other guy) did with Louder than Love. But then everyone's dreams don't come true.. eh? Kogg ps. Toni it's toooo coooooollllddddddddddd heeerrrre!! *whine* :0) ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 5 Oct 1998 12:34:36 EDT From: Matt Hammons Subject: Okay!! Everyone, Quick!! Take a look at the new Dr. Pepper 12-packs. How many SG refernces can you spot? I've found 2. The tap on the sides for whatever contest they're doing is VERY reminiscent of the SU upside-down forest, AND the contest is sponsored by the driving association of none other than Richard Petty (Father of Kyle.) Coincedence? You tell me. I liked the song you picked out but you forgot one of the best. The original version of Room a 1000 Years Wide. I don't know why but that version has stuck on me since i got the single. I have all of the SG B-Sides and have already made my own copy. I have it from record date, or as close as possible to record date. I like it that way so you can hear the evolution of all the songs. I got the two versions of "Heretic" and i like it that way. You get to hear the original "garage band" recording and then the "major label" high quality version. I would rather Kim do the B-Side comp that way. And the collection I made is 3 CD with 2-3 song on a 4th. Of course I added Motorvision to the 4th disc because it's to costly to have only 2 or 3 songs on a CD. But I think Kim would of course ad other songs that were never released and songs recorded live from all the touring. Just my thoughts. -- -AS mailto:asnod@home.com http://members.home.net/asnod |-----------------------------------------------------------------------| | | | "Flavor Flav is in every thing ya eat 'cause every thing ya eat | | got's flava!" | | | | -Flavor Flav, Public Enemy | | | |-----------------------------------------------------------------------| ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 5 Oct 1998 15:12:06 -0400 From: Michelle Subject: Re: SOMMSfest login Ahhhhhh!!! I'm sorry that so many people are having trouble getting in. *grovelling for forgiveness*. I wish I could fix it. That's the problem with relying on someone else. If you want something done right.... I sent Excite another message telling them about the problem. In the meantime, please just keep trying to get in! Hopefully it will all be taken care of soon. Or by some miracle, I'll suddenly have the time to create the damn community myself. *sigh* Anyway, please bear with it. Anyone not having troubles getting in the last couple of days? But on a happier (and much less frustrating) note, I thought I'd share the news of my latest additions to my collection. I got SU on orange and clear for a total of $25! I already had the blue...so now I have all three!
