Here's one to rival yours- the night before the Screaming Trees played Bumbershoot I dreamed Mark Lanegan and Ben Shepherd were talking. Ben was in kind of a mood and Mark was trying to talk him into something, and it was about music. Not only did Ben show up at the Trees show the next day, but now he's going to tour with Mark. And I had heard nothing about these intentions beforehand. Weird, huh? I'm sure we've all been waiting for a very very long time. I'm just very anxious to hear how he'll sound with Eleven. Next item, Mark Lanegan. I'd love to see Mark, but now since ben is touring with him, it's something i won't miss. I heard that they were discussing a US tour after the European tour. I hope so. A note to SOMMS- Chris's new album will NOT have Eleven playing any songs with Chris, or at least it will not feature Eleven doing every song. Chris has probably played most of the instrumnets on the album, and keeping in mind that 5 songs were self-produced by the beginning of August, and Chris has by now either will self-produce or find someone else to produce, we'll have to see. For due-dates, expect a Late November/Early January release. I'm sorry, but if you want a successful record to be released, you gotta finish all the songs by now and release it in a few months. For the record, Matt Cameron played on one of the tracks on Chris' new record. The record is apparently not entirely 'Sunshower'-esque, but "it's not exactly hard rock." -seth ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 18 Sep 1998 16:30:20 EDT From: James Connolly Subject: Re: Soundgarden MIDI Files hey asses, remember the unofficial site? a ton of my midis are there jimi ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 18 Sep 1998 17:10:58 -0400 From: jenny grover Subject: tour dates Here are the currently listed tour dates for Mark Lanegan (with Ben backing him up). I remember hearing about the breakup from Muchmusic and you know, I was devastated. I can't give a fuck about a guy's sensativity, so, I admit, I did cry. Soundgarden was such an awesome band. Their music connected to me in ways that I couldn't describe; so powerful it left you speechless and asking for more. I remember going to school the next day and all these people laughing at me, cause I was the only SG fan (at my school..I believe) and putting me down. I kept my emotions inside and told em to fuck off while I read SOMMS. SOMMS helped me through the healing process, and it also helped when Matt sent a message to the list. I forgot about the breakup, and loved SG again. What Matt said in his letter touched a nerve which only he (and 3 others) could have truly understand, and he explaned it to us, in ways which I regard him now, not as a celebrity, but as a normal, music-loving person, who works his ass off doing something he loves. That was then. Now, after months, and months of really stupid flames, messages, threads, and rumours, SOMMS is coming back to life again. I have noticed WAY more people join up and send messages. I have also seen some vets (Like Niki, and Geoff..though I wish Jordan was back) to newbies like (ah..Liz..and Limowreck, as well as the unforgettable Kathleen) and although I ain't a vet like these guys, I have been on SOMMS long enough to love ya guys. I will continue to be on SOMMS for the rest of my net life, and when this supposed Chris solo album comes out, be it October or the year 2000, you can be sure of one thing, SOMMS will be right on top of it. Dave, P.S. Any SOMMSters living in Waterloo, Ontario or around here, gimme a shout. In the new Entertainment Weekly (fall music preview issue), there's an art= icle on Sheryl Crow. She says she read in USA Today that her record was to be released Aug. 14. She called her management and label (A&M=97like Chris an= d SG), and told them she didn't want to put it out. They gave her more time to wo= rk on it=97now the release date is 9/29, with a different title than original= ly published. All this is to say that apparently release dates aren't set in stone. In the same section, they give little reviews of fall releases, and there'= s not a word on Chris, not even in the "also" list at the end. I don't know. Hey y'all, Yup...Matt did right to SOMMS, and before we get like a big amount of people asking for his e-mails..(yup..he wrote 2), you can simply forget about it. This has happened before, and according to Seth, it was a one-time deal. I'm actually lucky enough to have read his second (And last) letter to SOMMS and though it would be nice for the newbies on the list to read it, we have to respect Seth and Matt's wishes in this discussion. Damn, not one S.I.S. on the list!! I try and try to get on the groovy kewl list and I just can't seem to make it. I give free shit away and that doesn't help! I am so depressed I think I will go drink beer(in honor of my Kim) and wallow in my self loathing and unkewlness!! ..... And I was having such a good Soundgarden week. New CC pixs on Sunday, a Soundgarden song every day on the radio during my commute and a copy of a 92 Guitar World with cover boy, Kim in the mail (kisses to Sarah!) Dont worry dave, we're just messing with you! And about Matt's SOMMS post- Liz and everyone who asks, like it's been mentioned, we who have the post in our posession cant give it out- Matt asked specifially for us not to, and it was the cause of many an argument not so long ago. Maybe 6 months? Apologies, but it's the law of the list! -Arden ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 18 Sep 1998 23:54:37 -0400 From: Jamesetta Simpson Subject: Re: SOMMS - From 1997 To Now > At 06:02 PM 9/18/98 -0400, Dave wrote: > >messages. I could sit here and wish allot of people back on the list - THEN, I could thank the gods of Soundgarden that allot of the old people aren't back on the list. I guess those of us who were on this list from day one just don't count.. :-( AND before anyone gets a wild hair up their butt!!! This note was done all in the name of fun no flame intended.. Jamie (SOMMs Mom and charter member of S.I.S) PS: Toni you are the kewlest person on the list.. Now how about a book for your "OLD" friend.. :-) PSS: And this old SOMMs vet is going to see Matt playing with PJ tomorrow night with another old SOMMs vet Tracy at the Rock the Vote concert here in DC.. And my old SOMMs vet boyfriend Stacy (yes I did meet him here on the list) is jealous because he isn't here to go. :-P Matt report on Sunday. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 19 Sep 1998 00:21:00 -0400 From: DeeDee Kamp Subject: Re: SOMMS - From 1997 To Now what the heck does S.I.S mean??
