Gosh, I am overwhelmed to say the *very* least. What on earth can I say???...I guess this is why we have this list...I am prob. the only person on the Eastern seaboard on this list who didn't get to see the commerical last night, but b/c I am a member of this list got to hear the colorful details from other *super* fans of SG. Jamesetta: thanks for being so resourceful...did get your first message though. :) <> Kelly, believe me, you are not alone. I was out until 12 this morning at a voice lesson and missed the awards. I happened to catch probably the umpteenth time they were showing it when I got home and saw Hole's performance. Had I kept the TV on and seen this commercial there's no way in hell I wouldn't be checked into the emergency ward for a psychotic episode...it's been TOO long since I've seen any mention of chris on TV, and had banned MTV in general for always showing the same stupid crap. Ok, so now that I've got control of *some* of my senses, here's my question for you guys: Is this commercial the same type they had on previously with a bunch of different artists who were naming similar influences? I think this previous commercial I'm talking about had people like Fiona Apple, the guys from Matchbox 20, Michelle Endege Enchelo(I know I slaughtered the spellimg of that name)-and some other people I can't remember right now- They were sitting in chairs and they would go from artist to artist really quick so you could get the idea that although these artists were very different in the genre of music they created, some of their influences were the same nevertheless. Some of the common influences named were Joni Mitchell, the Beatles (you get the picture). Does anyone know what I'm talking about, and if so, was this the same type of commerical? If it was the same type of commerical, then I don't think it was a commerical for any particular show, just a commercial for commercial's sake. If not the same, you will be able to find me glued to my TV set and VCR *ready* and *waiting* for this new show... later people, *with VCR control primed =P* ~ViK ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 11 Sep 1998 10:47:55 -0400 From: Seth Perlman Subject: The return of Sir Cameron I saw Pearl Jam 2 years ago in Connecticut when they toured to support No Code, with Jack Irons playing drums. They were pretty damn good. And then I saw Pearl Jam last night in New York with Matt behind the kit. This is an entirely different animal, one with a thundering pulse. His playing is so distinctive that they almost sound like Soundgarden covering a bunch of Pearl Jam songs (minus the little details like Mr. Thayil, Mr. Cornell and Mr. Shepherd). And just as Soundgarden really came alive in 1996 when they were playing material from Badmotorfinger, Matt brings that same energy to the songs from Ten - last night's Cameron-fortified rendition of "Alive" was simply incredible. Cool moment of the night: seeing that Matt's equipment is still transported in Soundgarden's tour crates. More after tonight's show... -seth ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 11 Sep 1998 11:31:35 -0400 From: Geoff Subject: trowerchord mailing list Hello sommsters, I'd like to take this chance to announce the creation of the trowerchord mailing list. As you might expect, this mailing list will be a forum to discuss the Wellwater Conspiracy, and all of its implications for where we get our drinking water. Subscriptions ONLY will be taken immediately at trowerchord@bigfoot.com. Instructions on how to use the list will be sent out this weekend, and the list will start up at that point. (of couse, since i chris could probably say he was influnced by the spice girls on his next album and i'd still be in a trance...) he talks about how he loved Elvis Costello, The Beatles, and the punk ethic that was so popular when he was 21 and soundgarden's drummer/singer. oh the days i'd have loved to seen! if you don't have realplayer to see those vids, it's really easy to get and it's free. just go to realplayer.com and download the free version of RealPlayer G2 or whatever. works just great, and it's only a 23 minute download on a 28.8, so if you're faster this download is like nothing. so get to it then!! mindriot ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 11 Sep 1998 18:18:34 EDT From: Evan Frees Subject: Re: soundgarden tatoos????? << hi.. i was wondering if anyone had any soundgarden images that would be cool as a tatoo... or even if anyone had a picture of a SG tatoo they could send me...... c-u jerm >> I have the Badmotorfinger wheel and the UMOK symbol on my right arm, they both look very cool as tatoos. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 11 Sep 1998 18:23:56 EDT From: Kristin Herrera Subject: Seasons and Singles and Miami Today couldn't have started out any better. Last night I fell asleep with the radio on low, so when the alarm went off this morning, I awoke to hear a familiar tune trickle through. Half asleep, I didn't recognize it right away. But then I heard Chris's crisp clear voice, and realized it was.....Seasons! What a nice way to start my day. Now this part is for Sommies in Miami: The DJ said that tonight at Movieco(?) you can catch Singles one last time on the big screen. Toast and Omelet from Zeta will be there. So if you live in Miami and you have nothing to do, go see Singles. I can't tonight, so see it for me, will ya'! Also, I'm not sure but he might have said it's for some kind of cause. Sorry I couldn't post earlier but I was at school. ~Bu Bye~ ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 11 Sep 1998 20:02:40 -0400 From: The Hansens Subject: Chris Cornell interview Oh My Gosh..I just checked out the Chris Cornell interview on MTV.com. = Very nice. You have to click on Real Video first and click on "remind = me later" and then it loads up the interview and shows the interview and = you can hear him and everything. Of course, this is only a good thing = for me cause I'm obsessed w/ Soundgarden and anything to do w/ SG, so if = your not obsessed, which I would think and hope that you at least like = them a lot or you probably wouldn't be on this list in the first place, = don't go and listen to it. He just talks about his influences(of course) = and he talks about first meeting Kim and stuff. The interviews aren't = that long. Only a couple mins. And one song I would love to hear him sing is Tin Soldier by The Small Faces, which is, IMO, the most perfect song ever written. Interestingly enough, the first time I ever heard Temple of the Dog played on Triple J Radio here in Aust, the DJ played Reach Down, and commented on how much he thought they sounded like Free. Ah, there's so many songs I would kill to hear him sing.. just about any song out there, I think! Except Garth Brooks.. yeah, he may be abele to improve em, but... eh, no.. (no offense to any GB fans) I think if I could pick three songs, they'd have to be "No Quarter" by Zep.. uhm, I think it'd be really kick ass to hear him do a version of "Bohemian Rhapsody" by Queen (;)).. and of course, I love the version of "Alive" he breaks into in Motorvision!!! :) And about that Mtv thing: I HATE mtv, but this really rules! You can never get too much Chris in one day! I talked to my 9th grade science teacher today, and she lives by Chris and Eddie (she's a doll, she'd never bug them, don't worry), and she told me she SAW Chris and Susan geting out of their car and going into their house!!!! WWWAAAAAHHH!!!! Here's what she said: "At first I didn't think it was him, but then I looked closer, and thought 'oh my god it IS him!!' But then I wasn't sure... and then I thought 'Of course I know it's him, how many pictures of this man have I SEEN anyway!!' I watched them all the way in my rearview mirror!!" Hehehehe, we have her very well trained, arden and I... she said he looks just the same as he does in the Mtv clip, longish hair combed back with sideburns and his unique little goatee!! And she described Susan to a T as well.. I was absolutely thrilled!! :D Take care!! punk ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 11 Sep 1998 21:30:34 PDT From: Star Pancake Subject: One more little thing...
