But then I think wouldn't it be good to hear Chris do some Led Zepp - "Over the Hills and Far Away", "No Quarters", "Immigrant Song" (extra special to me), and "Battle Of Evermore". If time permitted I could give you allot of songs from the late 60's, 70's that I feel Chris could handle. Now that's a good give away at my advancing age. Hey how about "Hair of the Dog" or "Love Hurts" - BY!!!!! Nazareth..... Which I purchased when it first came out because I loved the covers art work - damn again showing my age... Okay, so the subject is supposed to rhyme but onto what it's about...I was eating my dinner from Taco Bell (duh) and had the tv on MTV (don't ask). I was going to watch bits and pieces of the VMA's to see what body part Manson was going to expose this year. Anyway, a commercial came on about influences and it went on with all of these people telling about who influenced them and at the very end CC was on for a split nanosecond and said that Jonny Cash influenced him (cool as shit). Well, I came out of my chair, screaming, jumping up and down (almost choking on my nachos) and ran to the tv to see if it was him but of course he was gone. So I've had the tv on MTV to see only the commercials and another one came on and there he was in all his kick-ass greatness (they showed him quite a few times on this one). So my conclusion...I'm dusting off my tape that contains stuff of Soundgarden and the individual clips of the guys from Soundgarden to get the CC commercials on tape. Call me obsessed but I'll just keep telling myself that I'm a VERY devotated fan. You guys and gals out in SOMMSland know what I'm saying because some of you are just as bad as me. Anyway, just thought you would like to know that I saw CC and had to do a triple take to make sure, but YES it was him. WOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!! Take care and be sweet!!! There were two short clips with him where he said ozzy and led zep. It was great. I just sat there for about 12 minutes saying, "that was Chris Cornell" followed by the occasional "my God he grew his hair out!" It was a festive occassion for all and it made my night. By the way, the awards were a joke. My boys Green Day won an award but it was for good riddance so it really doesn't count. otherwise, the foo fighters got snubbed, brian setzer kicked ass all over the stage, and wyclef jean and a bunch of other rappers tried to go hard rock (they thoroughly made fools of themselves as you can guess, especially when wyclef smashed his guitar alla every rock star known to man) well, good night to all the SOMMy swamis out there, I gots to be goin'.
