Hi Guys, I was reading a local Chicago music paper last night and there was an article about Rocket from the Crypt. A small paragraph tweaked my interest: The band recently wrapped up an American tour with the Foo Fighters, whose audience contains many wholly unfamiliar with Rocket's shtick. Similarly, a 1996 tour brought the band to the attention of the legions of supporting grunge stalwarts Soundgarden, an experience not altogether ideal. "Foo Fighters are like.....I think a lot more kids like them: (there's) a lot less BUTT-rock, as far as the audience goes," Speedo says of the difference between the two camps, "I think Soundgarden- a lot of their fans are the same kind of people who would go see Nazareth." Gee....now I don't feel so bad when I was relieved to get Sha Na Na of the 90's off the stage at the Aragon . I was tempted to show my BUTT to them and babee it can rock!!! And for the record I never seen Nazareth live either the band or the town!!! toni ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 9 Sep 1998 06:52:28 -0700 From: Andrew Snodgrass Subject: Re: It's so nice to be appreciative! tonerkin wrote: > > Hi Guys, I was reading a local Chicago music paper last night and there > was an article about Rocket from the Crypt. When interviewed by MTV about why they were opening for the Foo Fighters he made a comment like, "They are one of the only bands we deem worthy for us to open for." Most people think they are total dicks but it's all just fun and games. People are just too uptight. -- -AS mailto:asnod@home.com http://members.home.net/asnod |---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | | | "Flavor Flav is in every thing ya eat 'cause every thing ya eat got's flava!" | | | | -Flavor Flav, Public Enemy | | | |---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 9 Sep 1998 10:17:07 EDT From: Lance Huber Subject: Re: It's so nice to be appreciative! Once SG started getting a lot of radio play here all the bandwagon-jumpers hopped right on. Then when it wasn't "the thing" anymore, they all hopped back off and headed to a Nazereth or some such concert, whatever was the flavor of the day. Personally, I miss the late 80's early 90's when you could say "Soundgarden" to people, and they'd give you a funny look and say, "Sound Garden? Where is that? I've never been there. Is it pretty?" <> Lance ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 9 Sep 1998 09:31:16 PDT From: "yoLaNDa L." Ah, the joys of ignorance. ~ViK ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 9 Sep 1998 14:09:43 EDT From: Niki Freer Subject: Re: It's so nice to be appreciative! tonerkin writes: < The band recently wrapped up an American tour with the Foo Fighters, whose < audience contains many wholly unfamiliar with Rocket's shtick. Mind Riot wrote: >give me buttrock then if it be soundgarden vs. shiny silver outfits and dog >dicks. Although them shiny silver outfits sure is purdy!! And songs about dog dicks....well I must admit I like a clever dog dick lyric! But only if the one and only Chris Cornell is singing it!! And than it would be elevated to the classy tale of Pomeranian dog penis!!! :-))) toni ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 9 Sep 1998 17:20:21 EDT From: Mike Liacone Subject: ROCKET i saw soundgarden at the aragon in 96. and id have to say that rocket from the crypt just didnt fit in. the guy next to me chucked a full beer and got tackled. even i was being a tad bit rude to the danicng weirdo. but it was all in fun seeing that he pointed to me and fliped me off while i laughed at him. and as for tenderloin? well im glad to say that i wasnt one of the unlucky ones to catch a guiter pick shot from his gut. just disgusting. well maybe next tour (hehe yea right) sg will select some more fitting bands. just a thought. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 9 Sep 1998 19:12:16 EDT From: Kathleen Burrows Subject: skinl dna srennab hey kiddies. im workin on my SG site again, and i was wonderin if any of yalls who have SG websites have banners?? if ya do, please email me private and that'll be cool. The thing about the dancing guy is he is not even in the band. He just helps Rocket when they are on the road. He does some backups that would not be possible to do live. Since there is a trumpet and sax player, they have to have a guy do the backups. On the albums the Sax and trumpet player do all the back up vocials. They over lay their vocials with their instraments. That is what is so great about doing stuff in the studio. So it's kind of hard to play a trumpet and sing at the same time. -- -AS mailto:asnod@home.com http://members.home.net/asnod |---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | | | "Flavor Flav is in every thing ya eat 'cause every thing ya eat got's flava!" | | | | -Flavor Flav, Public Enemy | | | |---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| ------------------------------ End of SOMMS Digest - 9 Sep 1998 to 10 Sep 1998 ***********************************************
