Ben has contributed more in the songwriting department than Matt has over the entire history of the band, and nearly as much as Kim has. In fact, Hiro contributed more in terms of songwriting than Matt and as much as Kim. If you want to get technical about it, Matt's not an original member either. (No, I am not dissing Matt in any way). Perhaps we are still unclear as to what you mean by contributing equally, whether it's writing, performing, recording, or what. Hmm, I didn't know people would get flipped out over something as stupid as this, and frankly I'M tired of reading about it. My point, for the third time: Matthew David Cameron joined in 1984 or 1985. Hunter Benedict Shepherd joined in 1990. I think a five to six year difference *GASP* makes a difference in how much one can possibly contribute OVERALL. I'm not talking about JUST songwriting here, people. And I REALIZE Matt isn't an original. But do the FRIPPING MATH and you'll MAYBE get my point. If not, I take back everything I ever said, I'll realize that opinions are not valued on this list, and I will resort to living in a cave made of the grease of the heads of brainless people (It's a quote from a damn good movie, who's name I will not mention for the fear of some idiotic asshole popping up, "Nuh uh, that movie sucked, man, duhhh...") By the way, in case you didn't notice, that was a bit of SARCASM from your beloved Ben hater (and so was that, I love ben, I love them all) Thank you for your time, dear SOMMsters who have the ability to think, and thanks for sitting there and drooling, you that don't. =pUnKy= http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Arena/9982/ http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Frontrow/2626/ "And I hope it's a sweet ride..." #:)*-/-< <---chris (:)~-\-< <---matt &:)`-/-< <---ben $:)@-\-< <---kim ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 22 Aug 1998 06:00:52 +0000 From: Michele Subject: About the B-sides thing Hey Kids, Lots of us, worked long and hard to get b-sies way back when. I bought alot of the Soundgarden's rare CD imports not that I could find many it took awhile (also the generousity of others helped.) like others the money I did spend was alot. But yet, I am thrilled to have an album coming out with more copies of songs, I probally already have.Cuz they are soundgarden songs, therefore they rule to me. I know they have potential & I'll probally like them. Sure, it would be really kewl to have new songs(specualting) we haven't heard that they cut from albums laying around somewhere, that we never heard of & don't even know the lyrics (referring to the lyrics section on the offical site.) to or something like that. Personally, I rather have/listen to ten copies of Spoonman (remix or any other version for that matter) or any other b-side then have/listen to one copy of a crappy song they play on the radio these days.(I could name a few but I'm not.) Smash mouth or whatever for example. I think it's just kewl that I can have them all on one cd it's just conveniant. I spent way too much money on foreshocks just for this the convenience. Sure could of got them burnt on cd r but I didn't. Plus it's a good thing for the new fans, maybe it will attract more fans (is this a good thing?)or maybe we'll hear a RARE song we already probally knew about on the radio? Could it happen? Then maybe then the rest of this world will no longer know soundgarden as that black hole sun band. Hey this sorta kinda happend with Bleed together. Ok, maybe I am just dreaming. Does anyone out there in SOMMS land have "ANY" recordings singles etc from soundgarden that "pre-date" Screaming Life? Any demos, live, boots or anything? Just wondering what they're like. And, if possible, hey, I'd like to hear them. Lance ------------------------------ End of SOMMS Digest - 22 Aug 1998 to 23 Aug 1998 ************************************************
