A little premature perhaps, as he's still working on the first album, but hey, you've got to start somewhere! You'll find 'A Chris Cornell Fanpage' at http://www.rustycage.u-net.com/home.htm. There's an interview with Chris from 1996 that never made it to Seth's site, just to kick things off. If anyone has information/material they want to send me, please email deborah@rustycage.u-net.com. But please don't bother with the Hit Parader article - frankly, it's crap! And if anyone has any advice/recommendations on the best providers of free webspace, I'd appreciate it. I don't think my 5 MB is going to get me very far! There's been a lot of discussion over the B-Sides album here and eleswhere, and I am incredibly surprised at how many people are against the idea, and their reasons for opposing it. They don't want others to have some rare songs without going through a huge hassle to get them, just because of the trouble they themselves took to find them. Does this seem just a little bit selfish to anyone else? Some people don't live in places that sell lots of REGULAR Soundgarden CD's,let alone have dozens of singles and rarities drifting about. B-Sides is a chance for these fans to get a little more of the Soundgarden experience. Just because you took the trouble(and even had the opportunity) to go and hunt for them doesn't give you exclusive rights to the music. How, as Soundgarden fans, can you want to deprive others of the band's beauty? I don't know about anyone else here, but I find that extremely immature and...well...low. I'm very happy that more fans who love Soundgarden and share in their passion will now have access to even MORE of that passion. And, because i've ranted and raved on about it for so long already in the past, I won't even get into the "real fan" issue except to say it's total fucking bullshit. I find it strange that while so many are against the idea of a B-Sides album because, oh my god, fans will get to hear more songs, almost none were against the A-SIDES album. Kris said about B-Sides: >BUT, A&M probably wants > to make as much $$$ off this set as possible Maybe, but why did NO ONE think this about a-sides?!?!!?? Think about how blatantly greedy the whole concept of that album is. Releasing an album of already released songs, totally unmodified from their original versions. Was there any point to that? I saw no logic in this besides a pathetic attempt to wring more money out of the die-hard SG fans who buy anything that is released(and that's not an insult at all to you guys, I see where you're coming from and am not trying to get on your case at all). Sorry for babbling on, but I think B-Sides is a great idea. Anything that gives fans more of a chance to experience the music is. Because that's what it's all about. -Ugly Truth ~ I don't remember half the time If I'm hiding or I'm lost But I'm on my way. . . . .~ ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 16 Aug 1998 21:26:28 -0500 From: Jim Subject: sleepless in indy Hi everybody I just had to write to tell you all Im going to pearl jam at Indianapolis's Deer Creek music center tomorrow. Im so excited. The fan club came through with some really good seats. X-fest was just there saturday. A local radio station puts it on yearly. It was mostly a bunch of alternapop bands but Creed headlined the show. They rocked. There was a good pit for Limp Bizkit too. Anyway, anyone else goin tomorrow? Ill be there showin off my well worn superunknown tee. Thanks for lettin me brag. later Jim -- mailto:jrpriest@iupui.edu http://php.iupui.edu/~jrpriest/ "Mind if I have some of your tastey beverage to wash this down?" ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 16 Aug 1998 23:27:19 EDT From: Igor Nepomnyashchiy Subject: Re: Sorry, but it's more B-Sides stuff, feel free to delete. Just wanted to say, I agree, and that even though we won't hunt for all those rare songs (the only even remotely rare thing I have is SOMMS) we still don't get the value. Lots of things have been re-released, but does getting the original not bring its own pleasure even though you can already get all the songs easily? I know A&M wants to make money... al record companies release some sort of rare song compilation or live show when they see many bootlegs of the band circulating... look at Muddy Banks Of The Wishkah and Closure, but those things are the only thing available for some people.... And the final argument of all.... Don't want it, don't buy it. --Igor. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 16 Aug 1998 23:33:52 EDT From: Chris Weller Subject: Come together... Hey everyone Back from Seattle--kick ass city!--and I picked up a 7" single I'd never seen before. It is for Come Together, with Heretic on the b-side. The cover has a black and white picture of a dinosaur wearing jeans or something, and the actual disc has only a white label. Is this paying homage to the white album, or is this a fake? I havent listened to it because my little brother lost the .45 adapter for our record player. Chris Hey, thanks to everyone who gave directions to the sound garden. I found it! ------------------------------ End of SOMMS Digest - 16 Aug 1998 to 17 Aug 1998 ************************************************
