May I recommend The 5h Ultimate Seattle Guide on the Five Horizons (Pearl
Jam) web site:

To find "A Sound Garden", use the NOAA directions; they are more direct
than going through the park, though it is a nice place to walk around.  If
you find the child-care centre, the sculpture is behind it, right near the
water.  It looks (surprise!) like the picture on the above web page.
I visited it with my brother the day after we went down (from Vancouver) to
see PJ on the 21st.  Very cool.  Did anyone else there think the guy on
stage near Matt Cameron towards the end of the show looked very much like
Chris Cornell (besides me and the woman behind me who asked me)?  I know it
wasn't . . . just wishful thinking, I suppose.  I'm psyched to hear he is
recording, though.

The Sound Garden sculpture is in Magnuson Park.  Take Sand Point Way to

Ok, just picked up Wellwater Conspiracy after a long long long search, and
goddamn, that was fabuloso!!!! I'm not one for Hater, I mean it's good, but I
wouldn't play it over and over again. I really dug WWC. Dig the liner dealies
too! I remember hearing a rumor that it's out of print.... what was up with
that? And also, was that rumor ever dumped about Chris and PJ, ya know the
touring thing. RUMORS!!! The list is covered with them!!! Sorry I missed the
birthday posts....Um anything else? Nope, I think it's all covered (like chris
will be when i put him in that hot tub of chocolate!! ha HA!!). anyDONKEY.....

oh BTW, in readin all the fun DREEM band ideas....I saw all these so and so's
my fave bassist...Ben was mentioned a coupla times.....don't mean to start
this shit up again, but...what about Hiro? IMHO, I think Hiro was the best SG
bass case and one of the slamminest (hello 80s!!!) bassists around. Another
thing, as fine and talented as some (not most, come on people) of the
musicians listed are, I don't think they'd fit in for Doodly Chris's career.
It's cool to think of these people in a band with him...but personally I think
the sound would kind of <pffft>. Except for "Chris and Da Hootchies" phat name
huh? Phat concept too! Can I play xylophone? Triangle? Chopsticks? Sing and
beat my chest with Bobby MC Ferrin?!?!?! PLEASE!?!?!?!?

Seriously, if someone's interrested in hearing who I think would be great for
da jobs email me privately, and expect to wait a long time for a response, who
knows when I'll get on this thing again.....

And also....who in their right mind would py 25 bucks for SUB POP 200, I paid
6 bucks, and it was the black box. Keep searchin' (avoidin obvious line) for
those bargains kiddies!

        hey kids... good gravy... did i hear one of the FUNKIEST things ever...
alrite... my ex-step-father came over today to give me a b day gift, and we
started talkin bout bands... now he said that he wants to get "Temple of the
Dog Unplugged". WHAT THE FUK??  and i was all, "dude... i dont think so... i
dont think they even made one..."   i know he's probably full of shit, but i
was just wondering what's up with that...
        On another note... since someone brought up Creed [ x (~ ] and SG, i think
i'll be a loser and mention another band and SG... now i dont know if there
are any deftones fans here, but i like em... well... for all who like them and
SG, you know that Terry Date also produced deftones, (amung other bands) and
you know that adrenaline was also recorded at Bad Animals, Seattle, WA.  well,
i noticed that track number 5, Lifter, has an SGvibe, with the vocals...   i
think the vocals sound a bit like the ones off of Rusty Cage... with the echos
that way... just a bit of loser trivia on my behalf...
        Ugh... now to my favorite subject, "teen" magazines... Teen People isnt the
only SGfriendly magazine for young teenage grrls... when i was subscribed to
YM (thank God im not anymore, other wise i woulda started to puke just like
their little models in there that do that to get rid of their food, because
that magazine SUKS), they would have crap on Chris Cornell ever so often...
eww... made me sik... what blasphamy... i have one of the pics of him of him
from there on my wall... cause damn it... its a damn good pic... and i have
another in my wallet... and it suks... cause they always mention him as,
"Chris Cornell, Soundgarden's sexy lead singer" its like, "hello??  theres
OTHER dudes in the band, and chris cornell is OTHER things besides sexy..."
good gravy... it jus t pisses me off... but ANYwhoski...
        Ahh yes... and now about the little B-Sides stuff... okays... i would
personally say, "green light" to the B-Sides collection... and i would say it
for this reason:  a lotta people just mainly hear the SG stuff on the albums.
well when i got some B-Sides, i played em for my friends.  and both my friends
that i played them to, LOVE karaoke...   ANYwhoski... my point is, ever since
they heard karaoke, theyve seem to have more of a respect for SG... and i like
that.   so i think that with B-Sides coming out, people we be able to see what
many SG fans have seen before... the kik assness of SG... i think thats cool
beans...

I think The Conspiracy was right when he said if SG made a video out of
Karaoke, that it would've brought in a new legion of fans (I know those
aren't his exact words, but it's something to that extent).

Not that it matters too much but I'm with Bill and the Koggster.  I
definitely agree with Bill with regards to the frequent usage of the word
"anywhoski".  For some reason, every time I read that particular word it is
like a Phillips Head into my brain.  Use the word if you feel the need but
just know there is at least one shmoe in Australia cringing every time he
reads it.

I also agree with Koggle in the grammar department. At the risk of sounding
like a school teacher, I think some of the grammar has been decidedly
shoddy. But who am I to judge? I'll get off my ^$#@^# cross......we need the
&^$#*% space to nail the next fool martyr. But being a grammar buff I do
find it annoying at times that some people should abuse the english
language.

finding "Loudest Love" 200 miles from my hometown! I would feel deeply
appreciative if they released it through the fan club only. That way you
KNOW that only real fans will be receiving it :) BUT, A&M probably wants
to make as much $$$ off this set as possible so they will release it to
as many people as they can, including fucking idiots like jocks/preps
who say "Oh yeah, 'Black hole sun won't you come and wash away my
brain?'" Hehehehe... Whatever... "Sleep tight for me, I'm gone"

Just think of this. Everyone who does get the B-side comp. will not have
the originals. They will only have the reproductions of the songs. For
all of us who do have the hard to find singles, we have the original
releases. We have the stuff that will never be made again. The B-side
comp. will be made over and over again. It's made for the masses. We
have stuff that will never be made again. AND, They don't have the cool
artwork (like the picture of Chris on the Rusty Cage single with the
fighter pilot glasses on). The only reason this album is being put
together is to finnish up the record contract and to give something to
the fans. I don't feel that people who didn't like SG before will go out
and buy this album. What reason do they have to go buy it if they didn't
buy Soundgarden's stuff before? Also, You never know what Kim will come
up with. He even may through in a few songs that were recorded but never
released on the comp. Just look at the B-side comp. as a good thing.
When, and if it is released I will buy it. It's not going to stop me
from still buying old singles I stumble upon. Just my $0.02

I just got the CD "Sap" by AIC.  I was listening to Right Turn and
realized what good company Chris was in when he sings with Jerry, Lane,
and Mark.  They all have such unique voices.  I also think this goes for
TOTD on Hunger Strike (and where ever Eddie sang back-up).  All these
guys seem to have a unique sound to their vocals.  It's easy for me (I
don't know about ya'll) to recognize them on the radio when only a few
words have been sung.  Do you get what I'm saying.  I think this is one
reason that drew me to these bands.  But I have to say, out of all of
them, Chris has the most beautiful, unique voice ever.  I would just
love to have a recording of just him singing in the shower or talking on
the phone.  I don't know, call me weird.  Oh well...  Thought I would
throw this out to ya'll.  Take care and be sweet!!

I agree totally.

The B-sides benefit for me would be to have all of them on one CD compilation,
rather than having to put them on tape or sift through 25 individual CDs (I
own at least one copy of every B-side).

That's one of the coolest advantages of having Fresh Deadly Rareties, it's a
great bundle, all on one CD.

For those of you collecting though, there are a lot out there to collect that
aren't necissarily B-sides, such as stuff from soundtracks and others such as
Blind Dogs, Birth Ritual, New Damage with Brian May, HIV baby, SubPop Rock
City, as well as the different mix of Kyle Petty on the Home Alive
compilation.

So there is plenty out there I am sure that will never land on any compilation
period. There will always be plenty of stuff to search for.

Now I don't care how they release it...through KOTST or to the mass =

wonder what the barometer would be to measure who is a real fan and why =

enjoys their music, they should be entitled to buy B-Sides.  And if =

maybe it'll turn them on to SG.

slapped together on an CD.  Otherwise any idiot at A&M could do it.  I =
think that Kim will give us something worth having.  Maybe an unreleased =

:) hey guys!

 a friend who LOVES pearl jam recently lent me her copy of the new book
about PJ out on the shelves called "Five Against One: The Pearl Jam
Story." don't groan until you finish reading this post. This is not only
a very well written book, it sheds a lot of light on a lot of things. And
it contains a pretty good amount of Soundgarden info, as Chris and Eddie
are such close friends and the ToTD project involved them. There's also a
big section on Andy's death and what happened.... all that sad stuff too.

 The book price is $14.95, as listed on the back cover, and my friend
bought hers from Best Buy (an Eastern US chain, i believe) because she
works there. You can find it at Amazon Online (www.amazon.com), i'm
certain they have it there, it was confirmed. :)
 BUTT this book is a pretty good buy for the $15, i think. lots of
background on the Seattle music explosion, lots of quotes from lots of
people. Ben shepherd is mentioned a whole lot early (as some of you might
know, Stone Gossard was in Ben's band March of Crimes for like 30 seconds
:)) talking about the violence the Seattle scene saw at times, a few
personal experiences including his sister and a bit of info on Stone's
small stint in MoC. Sound buy!
 Kim neely is the author, who has been a writer for (ugh) Rolling Stone
for 10 years, but she shows her professionalism in this book. very well
written and just a good looking book all around, really a good job.
paints a nasty picture of Mr Vedder, however. who knows who they really
are? Anyways, just figured you'd like to know that. lots of funny
lollapolooza hijinks too. :) good book

while it does infuriate me at times to hear people butched SG into just
that "black hole sun" band, that's the deal people. that's what they're
gonna be known as, they'll go down in their own little section of the
Seattle Sonicboom as being the guys with the black hole sun song and
video. too bad, yeah, but it's the facts.
 but i would love a collection of B-sides. clean some of them up a bit,
do a little fiddling around, i mean, christ... i'd love to hear Unholy
war without all those stops of the tape in it and what not. And "nowhere
but you" is soooooo amazing, it would be a shame not to let it touch
someone else's heart the way it did mine. i mean, granted, B-Sides might
end up being the SOMMS songs plus a few, like Cold Bitch or some FoBD
remixes or whatever, but the hope that maybe something that didn't make
the album can touch a music fan off into seeking out the rest of SG's
music... i have no beef with that anymore. it's pretty damn selfish to
want to horde music to yourself.

bingo! nothing is more fun than scoring something ultra cool like the Sub

I totally agree! When B-sides is released I know for a fact I will be
out at least a few dollars!! Reading this e-mail made me think of the
interview in one of those guitar magazines, I belive Guitar World,
that featured Kim talking about the break up and B-sides. This is
where I first heard about a video collection, album etc. A complete
package for a fan. I know that a ton of time has passed since then
but, I still have a large felling of excitement for B-sides. I own a
good number of Soundgarden B-sides, but I still would love to own a
B-sides cd.
On a video note.....
That interview had Kim talking about a couple of video possibilities.
One being a collection of all the Soundgarden music videos and the
other being a collection of live performance clips. Has anyone heard
anything about this since then? This would be the release that I am
looking forward to most plainly because It's Soundgarden stuff but
also because I have still never seen the JCP video!! I know it's on
Seth's site but I have a 14.4 modem, I don't think I have to explain
that...
In closing A&M can look forward to making a lot of money off of me!

for anyone who might care, the latest issue of Guitar world has the 100
best solos according to a reader poll, and Kim made it in at #63 for
Black Hole Sun. I think it should be a little higher though, he was much
better than Nirvana!

and about the whole grammar thing, I find it really annoying to try and
sort out the point of the whole post through all the bad grammar,
intentionally misspelled words, and stupidity. I usually tend to delete
certain peoples messages because it's too annoying to read. whoever said
"anywhoski" is annoying, I totally agree with you.

First off, I'd like to say that this is my first post to the list, though I've
been lurking for a little while, and I've been a SG fan for quite a long time.
To give you a picture, I'm 18, and I've been listening to the garden since I
was 11, when my brother gave me Badmotorfinger. (It was one of, if not the,
first cd I ever owned).  Since then, I've been a fan.  Anyways, the main
reason I'm mailing to the list, is because over the past week I've been
working hard on a new Matt Cameron web page.  I never got to see Matt with SG,
(I think my parents thought I was too young...probably true) but this summer I
was able to see him twice with Pearl Jam, and it made me realize how big a
Cameron fan I am.   I've only just began programming, but I think I've done
pretty well and I'd enjoy your feedback.  Any comments, critiques, critizism,
or contributions that you would like to give will be greatly appreciated.

The page itself is, like I said brand new, so not all of the content has been
posted.  I've been able to add a articles, quotes, a look at the equipment
Matt uses, and edited transcripts of Matt's chat sessions with Boomtheory.  If
you see anything incorrect, please, by all means, tell me and I'll fix it.
I'm expecting to finish the bio that I've been writing about Matt, and start
to create picture galleries fairly soon.  Also, I'm planning on creating a
'music' section, where all of the songs that Matt has written, (for SG and
others...WWC) are going to be listed with short audio clips, lyrics, and
(hopefully) a place for interpretations/comments.

I'm new to this mailing list, but I know that Matt has read it and/or has
posted to it.  If anyone has any info on that, I'd appreciate it as well.
Last, I read (in one of the Boomtheory chats) that Matt doesn't have a fan
club.  Well, if anyone knows if he's started one or if one needs to be
started, I'd like to know.

kim was also featured in a couple of photo sessions with various monster
magnet shirts on (back cover of the superunknown ep. was one, from

Hehe.  I was obviously exaggerating when I said the entire SU tour.  I doubt
Matt would have time to do laundry every day.  I also doubt he would wear the
shirt the next day, without washing it, after pounding on his kit for 2 hours.
The My Wave vid was shot at both the Calgary and Edmonton shows, so he was
wearing the MM at one and the You am I at the other.  If one were severely bored
and actually cared, one could look at the Searching performance in the Hype!
movie, which was definitely the Calgary show, and determine which shirt he was
wearing at which show, and which show is which in the my wave video.

a joke? surely the more exposure there is of Soundgarden's music the
better! if someone who hasnt listened to SG before picks up something
off a B-side compilation and then wants to check out the
