I am also curious. Does anyone know its exact location or a close street address I could plug into Yahoo Maps? The same question goes for Gas Works Park. I am on the digest so I would appreciate a direct email. Thanks Mark ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 3 Aug 1998 14:44:16 -0400 From: Anna Mincieli Subject: Re: sg party I will gladly dub any Sommster a copy of the SG video collection. It sickens me that somebody could charge $18, who's been advertising on several other BB's, who's in it for the money, and who's probably not even a SG fan. I'm willing to share that with you, just for the enjoyment of seeing SG. I also put all the videos in order, to the best of my recollection. I'm not a pro on dubbing videos, and the picture and sound quality probably won't be as good as this person who is charging $18, but this SG fans heart and soul will be in it, and you won't be getting ripped off. All I'll need from you is a VHS tape and postage. If you live outside the US, I'm not equipped with that type of VCR(not sure what it's called). You're all invited to the SG PARTY, who needs MTV's Total request anyway. Let them play their Backstreet boys. I wish they would play a SG video, right after those boys. SG would blow them right BACK to that little STREET that they came from. Give me an e-mail if you want a copy of the tape> "fluttagrrly08@webtv.net" > P&L ~Anna~ ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 3 Aug 1998 14:41:35 -0400 From: jenny grover Subject: about Hiro and Truly I received this e-mail from Justin Akehurst today and he gave me permission to pass it along to all of you: > I ran into Hiro Yamamoto in Seattle, and I have confirmed that he has left > Truly, due to pressures of raising his 9 month old baby (I do not blame > him one bit, what he did was truly admirable). > > Now the question is, who is going to replace him, or will Truly just > dissolve? > > -Justin ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 3 Aug 1998 15:20:36 EDT From: Rachel Potter Subject: sg invasion of teen people i was looking through my latest teen people magazine (w/the guy from dawson's creek on the cover)... and on page 56 the band creed lists "chris cornell of soundgarden" as one of their "rock idols"... THEN on page 58 there's a calander on september... and whose head appears on the 20th... of course... ben's head... it says "former soundgarden bassist ben shepherd turns 30" -rachel for those of you everclear fans... that section's up on my web page: http://www.angelfire.com/fl/unknowngrl/index.html ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 3 Aug 1998 17:22:22 EDT From: Mike Liacone Subject: B-Sides I've thought long and hard about this. And persoanally i have mixed feelings about a B-sidescollection being released. Like many of yourselves, i have sepnt many a dollar and hour searching for my rarities. Now i know that i would be upset if the guy who heard Black Hole Sun on MTV once (then he bought A-Sides) owned a collection of the things i hold dearly to my heart. I want to be elite. Maybe you agree; that's great. Maybe you disagree; Oh well. Just a thought And I'll leave you with a fitting line from the great Temple of the Dog "People like you, I know myself, walk in the shoes of somebody else. Thanks >> There are SO many reasons why someone could not be able to have some of the great SG B-Sides (No good record stores around, not enough money, no knowledge of where to get them to name a few) that you should feel lucky to even have heard of them, let alone own so many. And besides, the Nazis "want(ed) to be elite." It's easy to want that if you're not the one being excluded. This is pretty much the same mentality as "I heard of them first, therefore no one else can like them, etc. etc." Be gentle I'm not flame-retardent, Matt P.S. Temple of the Dog was very "dear to the heart" of Chris and all involved, count your blessings that they decided to not make the album a rarity, so could listen to it and quote from it. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 3 Aug 1998 19:48:15 EDT From: Mike Gallagher Subject: Re: sg invasion of teen people In a message dated 98-08-03 15:23:58 EDT, UnknownGrl@AOL.COM writes: << i was looking through my latest teen people magazine (w/the guy from dawson's creek on the cover)... and on page 56 the band creed lists "chris cornell of soundgarden" as one of their "rock idols"... They are one of the best bands going today. You'd have to be deaf not to hear the Soundgarden and Pearl Jam influences (especially in Scott Stapp's awesome vocals). It doesn't surprise me in the least that they listed Chris and/or Soundgarden as one of their idols. Though their sound is not original, they are one of the best bands I've heard in a while. Monster Magnet also is big on Soundgarden. They told Matt Pinfield on 120 minutes that Soundgarden is the most professional and generous band they had ever met and basically thanked SG for getting them on A&M (anyone know the story there?). Just wanted to let everyone know that the most non-raido friendly SG song was played today on Rock 105.3 in San Diego. Yes... Jesus Christ Pose was played. It's about time people not take the song so seriously. Just wanted to let you all know. -- -AS mailto:asnod@home.com http://members.home.net/asnod |-------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | | | "Hey, stop throwing shit at us. I don't recall if they toured with SG before, but I'm sure they know one another somehow. I think Matt wore a monster magnet shirt for the entire SU tour. (Check out the My Wave video). Of course, Matt and Ben played with ex-monster magnet guitarist/genius John McBain in Hater and Wellwater. According to the article in Raygun last year, Ben suggested McBain move to Bainbridge Island or something like that. Geoff ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 3 Aug 1998 22:59:06 -0400 From: Michelle Subject: Re: B-Sides I have to disagree with you here for a couple of reasons. First of all, we can all list different SG songs and different reasons that we got turned onto SG. Maybe a B-sides song will turn some other people onto the band. Just because they disbanded over a year ago doesn't mean that they can't get new fans. And maybe some of the "radio-friendly" songs just didn't strike that chord with someone. Second, I also have some rareities. But I wouldn't value my possessions any less if it became easy for people to get copies of these songs. Even if the rare and highly-coveted RATYW/HIV Baby on grape vinyl went through another release, I'd still place the same value on my copy. I remember some time ago people posting to the list asking how much different items were worth. And this was the source of some flaming even though some of us (yes, I was one of them) was just curious to know what it was we had. If you own a SG rareity for yourself, whether 1 or a million other's have a copy shouldn't matter. If you like that rareity simply because it's rare or has monetary value, well then (in my personal opinion) you have your priorities in the wrong place. And this is not directed specifically to limowreck. This is just an opinion that I wanted to vocallize and discuss. ~Michelle >I've thought long and hard about this.
