I know! Let's all email Mtv and call in and see if they'll play that Jimmy Page and Puff Daddy vid! And then if they won't, we could ask those nice poeple if they'd play BHS, since it's my favorite video even though I've seen it 500 fucking times! And then, if they won't play THAT, we could ask them if they had any spare lives, and if so, could they please hand them out to us? We're in dire need, you know. And if not, well, then Somms is doomed to mindless posts from mindless people for an eternity. But we'll always love our Mtv, right? Love to you all, pUnKy the biggest Chris Cornell Fan ever!!! P.S. Chris Cornell should be on Baywatch, he has the best body I've ever seen! I'd kill to see him running down the beach dragging his little surfboard, his red speedo shorts flapping through the wind!! P.P.S. For all you Brainwashed-By-Mtv-It-Sucked-Your-Brain-Out out there without a sense of humor, I was being sarcastic. Matt's my favorite. Get a life. Read a book (New Metal Crown). Kill Mtv. ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 27 Jul 1998 14:01:56 EDT From: Chris Weller Subject: Re: Various Postings Hey all Regarding Kim's work on a B-sides album and video collection-- I think he should just go all out and make it a box set, similar to (forgive me for saying this) Metallica's "Live Shit" Box. It comes with three cds and three videos. I'm only using this example for the way it's set up, not necessarily the music on it. I was thinking like 2 to 3 CDs of b sides, and then another Cd of totally unreleased stuff, plus a music video video, and a "best of" live performance video. I would like that too much. Chris ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 27 Jul 1998 13:57:39 EDT From: Charlie Mccutcheon Subject: rarities song discriptions and other stuff. i got a boot (sounds like a boot of a boot, however) w/ a whole lotta solo chris. for anyone who haven't heard these songs, i'll also do a breif discription of each. it's got, in order: DEMOS: 1) nowhere but you (like psychidellic delta blues. wierd/cool) 2) spoonman (sounds like someone banging on pots & glasses in the background, you all know how it sounds) 3) fluttergirl (the closest to a love song i've ever heard by him. accoustic. very poppy. great guitar solo, chris is a much better guitarist than he lets on) 4) missing (grainy/echoey vocals, full band. sounds like an amalgamation of industrial/80's art pop over a looping drum mechine w/ the sg touch. really cool) COMP. STUFF: 5) stolen prayer (chris sounds exactly like 80's ozzy. slow, metal ballad. doesn't sound like sg, but it's deffinitely full band. if anyone could help me w/ this please reply) 6) heartfist (starts accoustic. makes reference to being "hit w/ a hand of broken nails". then goes into massive tool/sabbath riff [cross of 'electric funeral' & full on reprise]. this one sounds like bmf-LL era sg. catagorize under bitchin') 7) unholy war (big ass, 70's metal rocker. full band. sounds like sg. easy to see why they're considerred metal by most. w/ no alice cooper all over it, it would've made an amazing live sg arena rocker. dumb-ass who recorded it to tape cut it short. bastard. this goes under bitchin' as well) TOTD DEMOS: 8) black cat (fun w/ stereo, glassware, egg shakers.great delta slide blues w/ sparse percussion. chris at his most bluesy) 9) angel on fire (nice use of space. meandering & ballady, almost like folk music. sounds like exit theme for some tear jerker, tragedy romance movie. sounds very blue collar for some reason) 10) reach down (i haven't heard vocal orchestration like that since queen. like gospel. well we all know how it sounds. the demo is a bit slower and brooding. very raw. sounds like it was recorded live in my "studio" [aka my sister's old bedroom]) LIVE STUFF: black hole sun (full band w/ leslies!) & head down (amazing) washington, 6-94. RECAPS: WWC WILL HAVE A RECORD OUT SOON (at-freakin'-last!). WHAT'S BEN UP TO? KIM'S WORKING ON FUTURE COMPILATIONS. INCLUDING B-SIDES, VIDEOGRAPHIES, HOPEFULLY CRISTI WILL BE HEARD (if they did a postmortum live in studio version and put it on there, that would truly rock. i haven't heard it yet.)BY ALL. OH YEAH AND LIVE ALBUM(S). goddamn that was a long post! charlie ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 27 Jul 1998 12:59:57 -0400 From: "Steven Russell Jr." Subject: Sunshower - Music Blvd. hey list, I just got my copy of CC's "Sunshower" today. Listen up...... I'm the one who started this Total Request business, so if you have any more insults or other negative comments about it, they can be sent strait to me at Jrwtx14@aol.com And another thing about it..... Okay, maybe the idea is a tad unrealistic, and some might even argue that it is completely stupid. I really don't care either way. What I think is this: If it does work, we (meaning some of us, anyway) get to see a Soundgarden video by just taking the time out of our infinitely busy days to send a simple e- mail. If it doesn't work...well, then, it doesn't work, and all you wasted was 30 seconds to compose and send a small e-mail, so who gives a shit? You've got nothing to lose, and there may be a small chance that some of us underprivileged folks get to see some SG that is new to us (visually, at least). --JAMES "Kill your health and kill yourself, kill everything you love....." ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 27 Jul 1998 17:25:24 +1000 From: Robert Joseph Hutchinson Subject: memorabilia i was in a cd shop the other day (utopia in sydney for aussies) and i was wondering: 1 whats with the vibrating screaming life hand, and is it worth $100 2 is louder than live worth $100 to americans $100aus is $60us rob ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 26 Jul 1998 20:55:46 -0700 From: The Cat Subject: Re: Lance's total request On Sun, 26 Jul 1998 17:35:50 EDT Lance Huber writes: >Look, if any of you out there acutally think that "Total Request" is >"actually" a viewer request show, you're an idiot. Actual people DO have nothing better to do than beg for videos on Total Request. The results change everyday. Billboard is compiled over a period of time. Have you even ever watched Total Request for just 10 secs. you'd see actual peoples' e-mails running through the video that they have requested. And, by the way, what is BKS? I'm sure some of us have friends that aren't on somms, but would be glad to do a small favor (like email them too) It's worth a try Holly Winkler- beyondthewheel@hotmail.com "all the love gone bad, turned my world to black, tatooed all I see, all that I am...." ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 26 Jul 1998 23:13:31 EDT From: Denis Farinha Subject: Re: total request I totally agree with Kaiser, mtv is all about commercial crap and it's only interested in whatever's "hot" now. Even though the crap they play sucks terribly. I don't even watch mtv anymore! It's awful now; back in the day it was kewl when they actually played music. Now we have idiots like jessie and ananda that just sit around and annoy the hell out of people. I mean if Chris's album does really well then it's gonna be all over mtv,but if it doesn't it won't. It's all about $ these days. Don't bother wasting your time Sommsters. They just play new crap. There should be another music network out there that exclusively plays SG and other great stuff! But for now there isn't, but we still have the music now don't we? ~DEN~ ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 27 Jul 1998 22:00:02 -0500 From: ebg Subject: Dammit...(work for it) My inbox evaporated today, and I only got about 80% of it restored from a back up...so if you entered please enter again... ===================================== On the block for this giveaway is nothing less than a copy of bmf/somms. That's right, the sommster's holy grail itself. Whoever wins it can tell their local price-gouging cd store and ebay to kiss their ass. Obviously I'd prefer that only those w/o bmf/somms enter this giveaway, but if you have it already and want to be an asshole, be my guest. I'll take entries for the next week or so...and I'll probably draw 5 names and forward them to my favorite sommster for the final draw...or something like that, who knows...
