If everyone on this list e-mailed MTV requesting the one Soundgarden video we all agree on, it will not even make last place. I'd wager thousands of people vote for the one video that makes last place. And there certainly aren't a thousand active posters on SOMMS today....and if I'm wrong about that, at least a couple hundred people vote for that last place video. Not that many active SOMMS posters either. And perhaps not many people will participate. If I remember correctly (I don't really watch MTV much, let alone Total Request) MTV will only take votes during a certain time period (again, I could be wrong). But, hell, let's all find a day, pick a video, and request anyway. MTV would be surprised :). Oh yeah......if the Soundgarden vid we pick DOES make it on the countdown, I'd better not see you Chris hootchies saying anything stupid in your e-mails, because MTV shows a couple of e-mails on the bottom of the screen during the video. And they ALWAYS seem to pick the worst, stupidest e-mails from the bunch. Please direct all flames to the_cat17@hotmail.com. Remember, this is the guy who wrote (I'll just take examples from DotU) 'No Attention', 'Blow Up the Outside World', 'Pretty Noose', the lyrics to 'Ty Cobb', and 'Overfloater' (which qualifies as "hard" in my opinion). Just because he isn't in Soundgarden anymore, doesn't mean he isn't capable of writing hard songs. Remember, he wrote the lyrics *and* music to most of the songs above. Chris is multi-faceted. To the person who wrote a lot....I'm sorry that you lost a friend, the stuff you wrote like seroiusly touched my heart:*( I never even thought of the lyrics " Times are gone for honest men, somtimes far to long for snakes," like that. Its so true though, the good people die young, bad people live a long time happy. But remember those good people go to heaven, bad people Go straight To HELL! sorry about that.... But I hope everything turns out cool for you -k- Well, I always listen to Temple of the Dog, cause its a good album, I cry when I hear Say Hello 2 Heaven, its so sad....and All Night Thing, reminds me of all my relationships, guyz liek to use me it gets sad, but i guess that's also my fault I hear their lies and believe them. I wrote a song, well not quite, i need to write the music to the song, but i got lyrics they're really good, if anyone wants to read it IM me, you can see how soundgarden has influenced me. Wanna know why? Well, do you notice what they play on MTV most of the time? Number 1's, radio songs, the current popular stuff, one hit wonders of the moment...stuff like that. Maybe if they do a Total Request Flashback thing we'll get to see a Soundgarden video... most likely Black Hole Sun (but we can change that, of course).. I guess I'm saying that they are fixed. I think the only thing they'll do when they see a whole bin full of mail saying they wanna see JCP or any Soundgarden video is just think "wow" to themselves and tell everyone one the job of "the crazy thing that happened today". - Maria a.k.a. I sent this to the list on Friday....either it never made it, everyone has a copy of the book or everyone has developed a phobia about writing. If it's a repeat I apologize! Hello, it's me ......the crazy give away lady with once again another Soundgarden give away!! In cleaning out my computer desk area(in hopes of convincing people in this house that I really can keep this damn place neat and tidy so I won't have to move to the dreaded attic) I ran across a book that got left behind in a previous give away. So I have a copy of Screaming Life....Photography by Charles Peterson..A chronicle of the Seattle music scene. Cool book with Blk/Wht pictures of the early days. See cover of Screaming Life(the CD) for a pix of Charles Peterson's work. Anyway, this book can be yours free of charge. Now to make things a little more interesting I want you to send an e-mail to me with a short note on why you over any other sommster should be the recipient of this freebie. Peggy(the ugly brown dog and I will read over the notes and decide the winner.(making us laugh would be preferable to the ol...I have the bubonic plague and only have three weeks to live or my Mom wouldn't let me buy the book tales of woe) If there is a tie Peggy will make the final decision(1 bark for yes, 2 for no) So here we go. To win a copy of Screaming Life(the hardcover book) send an e-mail to me: tonerkin@pipeline.com not the list. Convince me that you should be the winner and the book is yours....free!!! From: Grace Powers : >hey! >has anyone else noticed that on the Alice Cooper album The Last >Temptation songs 6 (stolen prayer) and 7 (unholy war) were written >with/by chris cornell? >--grace Ugh. This sounds like something from my first posts from SOMMS :). Let me offer a bit of advice I have learned: if information about anything Soundgarden related isn't new or current, then it has already been talked about on this list. And if there were enough votes for a Soundgarden video, I'm sure MTV would play it. They do the stupid Total Request thing every single day, so I'm sure they'd let us SG fans have our spot in the sun for once. /\ /\ 'o' -The Cat http://www.geocities.com/Pipeline/Dropzone/8176/ ICQ UIN: 2497880 Please excuse the Hotmail blurb below :P.... ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 26 Jul 1998 14:57:53 -0700 From: Andrew Snodgrass Subject: Re: Various Postings The Cat wrote: > My vote goes for The Day I Tried to Live vid. My vote would be TDITTL also. I saw it once on MTV and i only saw like the last 20 seconds. I would just like to see Chris bash his guitar on a full TV viewing pleasure. What about My Wave. They also only played that video like once. I remember some people saying that A&M should release a tape of all the SG videos ever made. I believe I heard in a interview with Kim somewhere that he would like to do something like this. He said he would also like to do a B-side comp, which he said he is working on now and hopes to have it out by the end of this year just in time for Christmas. He said he would like to get every SG song released on the Comp but might only be able to get a few of the songs on because it would have to be a 3 CD set, not that I'm complaining. And yes Arden I should have yours done soon. I will e mail you personally with all the details. That's all for now. Personally, I think that most of the Soundgarden videos are pretty bad, anyway. About the only one that I enjoy watching is Fell On Black Days. I think that I even remember the band being pretty embarrassed about most of their videos. I'd rather just see an officially released concert film....and they did record most of their last tour. ------------------------------ End of SOMMS Digest - 26 Jul 1998 to 27 Jul 1998 ************************************************
