Its a Chris chat thing from a while ago: <> Wow, his Phil Collins stage. I didnt know people had a Phil Collins stage. Perhaps this means that the release date will be set back to the time he starts balding *joke*. Its funny, cause I guess he totally changed his whole look on things in a short period of time. Maybe this is a reason of breakup, Chris changing viewpoints on things. Just an Idea -Nick ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 24 Jul 1998 02:50:04 PDT From: The Cat Subject: Random thoughts about AOL SOMMS and boot tapes to CD Is it just me, or does anyone else not give a flying fuck (whatever that means) about this AOL SOMMS list? I get the digest version, and one post of some really long e-mail addresses is bad enough, but TWO?? I mean, come on Mr. Nick Boos, learn some damn HTML and send a link to your page of AOL SOMMS people to the list, at least then we can have a choice of reading it or not. Okay, now that I've gotten your attention (a whole load of sarcasm disguised as a flame) can somebody tell me what the AOL SOMMS list is about? :). Anyway...Aladdin, can your friend convert some of my boot CD's to A&M studio quality, in CD format? Would be reaaal nice, because there always seems to be SOMETHING wrong, whether Chris's voice doesn't come through well enough, or Matt sounds as feeble as a heartbeat.... Oh yeah, and I've been away for about a month. Can somebody tell me what has happened to Seth's site? I have no way of telling, since (grumble) Hotmail sent me a message during the month I was away, saying that my mailbox was too full. And instead of being smart and deleting all my OLD mail, they wiped out all my newer mail. Ugh. And because Seth's site is gone, I cannot download any digest version. Ugh. Any help is greatly appreciated. And....what happened to the Conspiracy's site? I guess he never found another ftp :(. Just want to say thanks to him. Are all the good Soundgarden sites starting to go down? That part in the beginning of the video when the band is talking about what Soundgarden "is" and Chris says "Its a tear from an eye dreaming". The rest of the band starts laughing but I think Chris was trying to be all lyrical in his description. I think Chris was serious and then just laughed when the rest of the band started laughing. Anyone else agree? Agreed there, Chris joining Metallica is the biggest loud of shit I've ever heard, but giving the guys in the band a shitcanning for how they play their instruments is rubbish, it's irrelevant. Actually, their musical capabilities is entirely the point. If they are not good enough musicians how could they be part of a "dream band?" A dream band would be comprised of the best musicians and songwriters who are all capable of playing together. Chris Cornell and Metallica are completely incapable of meshing together musically, in my opinion, because you can not combine talent with shit and get a working unit. >Waiting to be flamed by all the metal-head Metallica fans, Judging bye you love of Dave Mustaine I think we know who Mr Metal-Head is around here. >> Actually I don't like Mustaine at all. I just think Metallica would have been better with him than with Hammett. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 24 Jul 1998 13:31:55 EDT From: Mike Gallagher Subject: Re: DREAM BAND In a message dated 98-07-24 12:31:36 EDT, bnbaker@1st.net writes: << Kirk Hammett is one of the best damn lead guitarists out there.......and not only can James Hetfield play rhythm, but he can play right along with Kirk on some parts. Nothing can beat that, If you have like some "Perfect dream band" and it doesn't include All of the members of Soundgarden, well then you ain't a true SG fan, It wasn't Just Chris's band..... Sorry I don't mean to Sound Bitchy...but its true, It was as Much Kim's, Ben's, and Matt's band as it was Chris's band! And Just cause Chris is OOOW SO VERY FINE, don't mean he has to take all the attention, Look for the talent! He has a PERFECT voice, can write lyrics and music...but he isn't the BEST on a guitar, Kim can write lyrics/music and he's BAD ASS on the guitar, Ben can write Lyrics/music and plays the bass pretty damn good, Matt can write lyrics/music and plays the drums, he's like one of the best drummers I've ever heard. Well my point is that there equally talented, that they all should reseive the attention equally!!! I hope you all don't get pissed at me for this letter, but I had to speak my mind, thats been burning my cookies for a while now, Don't take me wrong though, I love the attention that Chris is getting, but if he wanted a really good/GREAT band, He would have stayed with Soundgarden.........along with the rest of them. I thought that this was basically a good idea, but since most other people would be voting for new videos, even if all the subscribers to the newsletter voted for Nivana videos, they would all be voting for different Nirvana videos. So, it probably wouldn't ever work. To get to my point, I thought it might be worth a shot for all of the people on SOMMS to see if our combined efforts could get a Soundgarden video on the countdown. I figure the only way it is even remotely possible is if we all vote for the same SG video. So, if anyone thinks this is worth trying, e-mail me with your vote for what video we should all try to get on there, and we can all probably reach some compromise. Sorry if you think I've wasted your time with this post, I just thought it might be a fun way to see if we could actually get an older video (a decent video) on Total Request. --JAMES "I'm lookin' California.....And feelin' Minnesota....." p.s.--Nick, you can add me to the AOL SOMMS List now if you want. With the recent "dream band" arguments, I came to realize something. I realized that many soundgarden fans have a wide variety of musical tastes that often clash with other fans. I really didn't expect that many soundgarden fans to really dislike metallica. My ignorance I suppose. It has me wondering what bands most soundgarden fans are really into. I know this has been done before but I also know that my tastes and favorites are always changing so I am curious about the favorite bands the rest of you have besides soundgarden. ^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^* IF THIS ISN'T MAKING SENSE IT DOESN'T MAKE IT LIES ^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^* ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 25 Jul 1998 00:45:04 EDT From: James Wood Subject: Re: MTV Total Request It occurs to me that before I have everyone vote on a video we should try to get on Total Request, we should compile a list of all the existing SG videos. I have not been into Soundgarden (or any music, for that matter) as long as many or most people on this list, I'm sure, and I'm not terribly old anyway. Here's the point: I am not entirely sure of what all the Soundgarden videos are that exist, and I know there are probably others out there with the same problem (through no fault of our own; SG has been around as long as or longer than some of us have lived, and they get entirely not enough airplay on MTV). Any posts or personal e-mails sent to me that list all the SG videos you are aware of would be MUCH appreciated and very helpful.
