We are looking for another singer, a bass player, and a drummer; as Arden taking up rythem and I will take lead and some vocals. We would like the members to be at least with in 40 miles radius of Seattle seeing how that would make playing together hard. I live in Edmonds, and Arden lives in Kent so you see it will be hard enough as it is to reherse together..so it would probally be a once ever other week type of deal. If you are interested just post to SOMMS telling us about yourself and like perhaps what days would be good to start playing...and then we could come up with a song list. Arden and I have come down to two names....Sudden Groan or Danger: Sound. Well thats about all the info you should need for now so keep in touch -Nick aka Spackle (new nickname given to me by Arden on the BBS) -Arden, Sun God ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 4 Jul 1998 04:22:59 EDT From: Kristin Herrera Subject: SOUNDGRDNx Hmmmm, I don't believe I've ever posted before. I was reading the transcripts for the MTVonline interview with Chris and he was SOUNDGRDNx, and if you have aol you can check out the member profile. All it says is "Member Name: SOUNDGRDNx" Very simple low profile anonymous kinda thing. Also, e-mailing won't work. It just says "This person is not receiving e-mail from your address" or something. So, if it is Chris he probably blocks e-mails and stuff. I dunno. Adios. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 4 Jul 1998 09:01:25 -0400 From: Anna Mincieli Subject: my Journey into the Superunknown--"A tribute to SOUNDGARDEN" (long) --WebTV-Mail-1838845387-2587 Content-Type: Text/Plain; Charset=US-ASCII Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7Bit --WebTV-Mail-1838845387-2587 Content-Disposition: Inline Content-Type: Message/RFC822 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7Bit Received: from mailsorter-103.bryant.webtv.net (mailsorter-103.iap.bryant.webtv. net [207.79.35.93]) by postoffice-101.iap.bryant.webtv.net (8.8.8/po.gso.24F eb98) with ESMTP id DAA26611; Thu, 23 Apr 1998 03:06:34 -0700 (PDT) Received: from mailtod-102.iap.bryant.webtv.net (mailtod-102.iap.bryant.webtv.ne t [207.79.35.82]) by mailsorter-103.bryant.webtv.net (8.8.5/ms.graham.2jul 97) with ESMTP id DAA14011; Thu, 23 Apr 1998 03:06:34 -0700 (PDT) Received: (from production@localhost) by mailtod-102.iap.bryant.webtv.net (8.8.8 /mt.gso.26Feb98) id DAA04823; Thu, 23 Apr 1998 03:06:34 -0700 (PDT) Message-Id: <199804231006.DAA04823@mailtod-102.iap.bryant.webtv.net> From: fluttagrrly08@webtv.net (Anna Mincieli) Date: Thu, 23 Apr 1998 06:06:33 -0400 To: fluttagrrly08@webtv.net Subject: A tribute to SOUNDGARDEN Content-Type: TEXT/PLAIN; CHARSET=US-ASCII Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7BIT MIME-Version: 1.0 (WebTV) My journey into the Superunknown A tribute to SOUNDGARDEN Mindless journey - into - the "SUPER- UNKNOWN." I hope the "HAND OF GOD" caresses me. Don't "LET ME DROWN" in "HOLY WATER." Maybe I'll let the "BLIND DOGS" lead the way. I've got my "TOY BOX" in tow, which contains "JERRY GARCIA'S FINGER." Maybe he'll point me in the right direction. My big thumbs out - "NAZI DRIVER" picks me up. Destination: "665-667?" - or - maybe "SOMEWHERE" in between. Hope he takes me to another (strat)osphere, "A SPLICE OF SPACEJAM" would be cool! Instead, he speaks of the "UGLY TRUTH," the "NEW DAMAGE" done, the "HIV BABY," how there is "NO WRONG NO RIGHT" in this "HALF" - ass - world. "HE DIDN'T" speak of "SUB POP ROCK CITY," which I thought we'd pass on the way. I witness a gruesome "LIMO WRECK" on the side of the freeway, (such a bloody mess). The "BLACK HOLE SUN" is burning the tearfull rainy sky, reminds me of the "FOURTH OF JULY." "SHOW ME" the way, gotta get me the hell outta' here. He has "NOTHING TO SAY." Where's "KYLE PETTY(SON OF RICHARD)" when I need him. Behind -or- "BEYOND THE WHEEL." We seem to be "ENTERING" phase 11 of this expedition. We enter a "ROOM A THOUSAND YEARS WIDE." He says we can "GET ON THE SNAKE," the virtual "POWER TRIP" - the "CIRCLE OF POWER," the ultimate ride! I'd much rather catch "MY WAVE," stretch out my arms and go "OVERFLOATER," (a great high) - and let the tides take me away from this lunatic "HERETIC." He hands me "FRESH DEADLY ROSES," of which I manage to find one fresh smelling "FLOWER" amongst the stenchy bloody thorns. MR. Somms, tells me how he's the "KINGDOM OF COME," that he packs a fully loaded "GUN," (never shoots blanks). I tell him to keep it cocked, that if he shoots his seedy bullet, he'd be "DRAWING FLIES" all day, (they're mighty thirsty). He yells out "LOUD LOVE," that he's Louder than F___, but it's all just "BIG DUMB SEX" to me. He thinks he's got me "UNCOVERED," "HUNTED DOWN," locked in his "RUSTY CAGE." He smells my sweet, twining "FRESH TENDRILS," but I pay "NO ATTENTION." Now he's got me in the "MOOD FOR TROUBLE," never F___ with a "COLD BITCH." He says , I'm like the "MAILMAN," I always deliver the goods! Sure Fopp-head, it's probably all junk mail! This guy looks like "FACE POLLUTION," but I've always been "SEARCHING WITH MY GOOD EYE CLOSED." We run off the freeway - Crash - Lights Out! Brain-less, my subconsious is stuck in a "MIND RIOT." I dream of my childhood friend, "LITTLE JOE," and see visions of when we would visit Kevin's disheveled "DUSTY" house. His horny friends were always "FULL ON KEVIN'S MOM," Going "FULL ON(REPRISE)." Every "SWITCH OPENS" in every room, and she had this weird stuffed "RHINOSAUR," holding onto a can of "INCESSANT MACE." Rumors claimed that "SHE'S A POLITICIAN," but we "NEVER NAMED" her. One of Kevins brothers had this awesome juiced-up "MOTOR- CYCLE LOOP," complete with a fully erect "KICKSTAND." Out in his back- yard, we'd play our own version of "BOOT CAMP," and we had to obey the rules. We had to be tame, and I had to remain cool. We also played "BIRTH RITUAL" in the gardens and got bit up by the (local) "LOCO MOSQUITO." Part of the game was to hang ourselves from the fruit tree with this "PRETTY NOOSE" and strike a "JESUS CHRIST POSE." I was always the loser, "ZERO CHANCE" I'd ever beat those guys. They'd have their "HANDS ALL OVER" me, as the diamond and silver roped chain gripped "TIGHTER AND TIGHTER" around my fragile neck. The tree was always left standing, with it's "APPLEBITE" pit marks blowing in the zephyr. "I AWAKE" with a nasty "HEAD INJURY." I feel like the "SLAVES AND BULLDOZERS" have had their way with me. Never be caught with your "HEAD DOWN," it doesn't look good. I wish I could "BLOW UP THE OUTSIDE WORLD" and be the only one left. Such "AN UNKIND" act, but I'd rather be alone and never be lonely again. Daytime turns into night, and on this day, "THE DAY I TRIED TO LIVE" felt just "LIKE SUICIDE." My izan driver finally arises, as I scramble away. What's up now? - I think - He say's I'm "CLEANING MY GUN." I can't hide my "TEARS TO FORGET." There's got to be a Heaven, cause this place sure is hell! "NEVER THE MACHINE FOREVER," but somehow that car motor starts up. "YOUR CURSE," my lucky star. The full moonlight, how it shines so bright. Some- how I still feel "OUTSHINED" by it all. I have definitly "FELL ON BLACK DAYS" today, thought the darkness of night would brighten my spirits. Always the night owl, never the wiser! We cruise along the "OCEAN FRONTS" and I'm ever so tempted to strip down and dive in deep. We decide to sing "KARAOKE" style songs along with the car radio. He stops the car and hops into the backseat, and tells me he's the thine Majesty, and I'm his "CHRISTI," - his perfect match. He stares me down and says you are a "BURDEN IN MY HAND." I wish I could crawl back into my dream and Resurrect "TY COBB," and have him clobber this guy over the head with his Baseball bat. Too much of a gamble! Hard headed, F___ this guy! His motor get's going again and I feel like we finally "EXIT STONEHENGE." We stop by this lonely path of forest and hear these strange sounds coming from this weird looking Pipe Sculpture that reads the words a "Soundgarden." There is this cool lookin' guy hangin' out playing clanking rhythms with his spoons. He calls himself "Artis," the "SPOONMAN." He tells us to purify our souls and tell "ALL YOUR LIES!" I feel a bit better, but this "Artis" guy has got something else up his sleeves. He points me out and says, She! --- "SHE LIKES SURPRISES," anything in colorful disquises, that I'm all lips and thighs, have been abused by blood related eyes. I find myself thirst-ing for an adopt- able plasma transfusion. Strictly for medicinal purposes, we tear our nowhere hearts out and "BLEED TOGETHER," and become wholesome as one and all together gone. PLEASE!?!? Re: SHUT UP ABOUT THE BEATLES > >OK US SOMMSTERS THAT ARE CORE ARE GETTING SICK AND TIRED OF ALL THE BEATLES >SHIT ON SOMMS RIGHT NOW. >-Nick sommsters that are core?? someone's head is mighty inflated hmm? i have enjoyed the posts about the beatles and i'm glad for a change in the topic.. some of us had a nice discussion about it and managed to get our point across without bitching or stating the obvious (ie. "i hate the beatles".. why? why not?.. maybe you would have enjoyed the thread slightly more if you would have been involved) Re: the heart of the issue Jen, you rock.. you said what i have wanted to say, but just couldn't put it into words. :) Re: SG Influences > >I really don't care about their influence to Soundgarden. If you look >at it in a certain way... everything that any musician hears probably >influences them in some way...so any band or song that they have ever >heard has probably somehow shown up in their music. Are you sure you mean this, Jonathon?? if not for SG's musical influences.. maybe they wouldn't be as great as they are today (in my opinion anyway) .. i'm not sure that you understand that SOME bands have had such a *huge* impact on Soundgarden's music.. (not just listened to once or twice by the guys and liked) just look at some of the songs they've covered.. the doors, black sabbath, the beatles etc etc.. surely you must be slightly interested? i'd like to understand why you aren't.. >I also think that >it's ridiculous to judge someone because of who they like or dislike. i didn't see any judging going on.. it is just difficult to understand that someone could like a band SO much but turn a blind eye to their roots.. >I think that everyone here has been quite ugly about the >whole Beatles/Soundgarden thing. it only gets 'ugly' when someone makes wild accusations and misses the point of someone's post.. no, it's not a crime not to know where Helter Skelter came from.. it is offensive (to me) to be told where it came from and then act negatively.. >Are we really that bored to sink to the petty lows >that I'm seeing? it's not boredom.. it's exploring soundgarden and what MADE them Soundgarden as we know it.. if you don't wish to take part in it, don't.. *that* is where the flames come from.. people don't understand why talk on this list would be about something in particular so they try and change the subject - without any subject in mind.. naturally, all hell breaks loose.. >What I >did NOT join this list for is the whining, griping, flaming, and >whatever other petty crap you can think of. If someone doesn't like >what someone else has to say, then state YOUR view...don't give them a >load of shit for expressing themselves. so don't complain yourself.. don't DO what you don't like to see done.. i think some people have trouble with constructive criticism and conflict of ideas.. i often find it enjoyable to have someone who thinks differently and i try to understand WHY they think like that and give facts that would possibly support MY ideas and maybe persuade them to see things in a different light.. get me? I don't know if she posted it, as her own. I posted that SG Tribute on April 23, on the SOUNDGARDEN Bulletin Board and trusted that nobody (without my permission), would take it upon themselves to post it onto the SOMMS list. I've only been on the list for 2 weeks. I'm getting no answers from this person, and don't know what SG trib she means. If somebody could e-mail me and let me know if my Trib. was posted onto the SOMMS list , between April 23 to early June. I would appreciated it, if somebody remembers that same trib being posted. If she did her own SG trib, more power to her. PLEASE e-mail me, I really need to know.a BIG THANK YOU!!!!! Yeah, this band that we all love for their originality and creativity will probably be really impressed that they could not inspire their listeners to anything more ambitious than a cover band. Cover bands have never been, and never will be, very "core."
