Step 1 Step 2 [] I'm gonna have to side with Jen on this one. I feel that she just confirmed the rumour and without any further detail, respected Ben's wishes. That does not mean that she' s "covering" anything up. How dare you accuse someone of that? I find that is very distateful and wrong on your part to escalate this. Oh I saw Pearl jam last night, matt was kickin' ,a pretty damn cool show, but y'know what I tired of all you people flaming for a little reason like how I wrote about Ben. I WAS JOKING AROUND DON'T TAKE IT SO SERIOUSLY...i'm on prozac OK and it kinda sucks. OKay and who is this source that gave you this information huh? You write something like that on this mailing list and you don't expect anybody to write or talk about it?? Thats a bunch of bullshit...God, i'm tired of all you guys and every fucking idiot on the face of this earth, maybe i should fuck my self too...I outta here... See ya ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 28 Jun 1998 13:10:24 EDT From: Nathan Gilmore Subject: Kim radio show/Matt on SP album Last night a local radio station broadcats a special called Rock & the environment. Kim Thayil was the host. He talked about many environmental issues and what we can do to help out. It had live and unreleased music from other bands who care about the environment. They include Pearl Jam, Days of the New, Candlebox, Tonic, Jerry Cantrell, and many others. They also talked to Chris Cornell a little bit and played Sunshower. Then the last song on it was a live version of My Wave. It was excellent. What made this really cool was that while Kim was talking they would play clips of Soundgarden songs in the background. From Louder than love songs like Hands all Over and Big Dumb Sex to Superunknown ones such as Like Suicide to a bundle of DOTU songs including Pretty Noose and Tighter & Tighter. It was a really good program. Last night I also bought the new Smashing Pumpkins CD "Adore." I had heard so much about Matt Cameron's contributions to this album and I was really excited when I purchased it. It is a good CD, but Matt's name is only mentioned on one track, "For Martha." It is a nice 8 minute long song. Maybe Matt did some other stuff on the album, but that is the only track where it says drums by Matt Cameron. Most of the drums are by Matt Walker. ~Nate ----By the way this is my first post to this awesome mailing list. Oh yeah, and I was the high bidder for a copy of Badmotorfinger/SOMMS on ebay that ended yesterday! ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 28 Jun 1998 11:34:29 -0700 From: sunishun Subject: Re: Is this true? You know, if you need to flame, that's cool. I only heard the stuff and wondered if it was true (See Subject line). I didn't say it WAS true. This is the only place I have to get any answers, so if it gets you all uptight, that's sad. I think I divulged what was needed to get the point out and the truth from some of you who may or may not know better. I heard it last Wednesday nite from a crew member of a well known band which originally hailed from Aberdeen and is currently touring the US on their own and in support of an LA area band. Asked me to keep their name off of it if I asked you guys. This person was raised in and currently lives and works in Aberdeen and is on the road crew during the Summer months. Really good friends w/Krist N. and has been crewing for the band I saw since their beginning. A straight arrow kinda person. Also told me that they saw Kim recently and that Kim is "comfortably retired" and has no plans to record, but if something comes up... This person must of been really BSing me. They gave me this information out of the blue and not knowing I was into SG. Must've been another bunch of stupid BS roadie jokes. I guess I'll never get to the truth! I respect what you're saying, El Conspiranco (Dave), but however Ben wants to live his life is fun. If he does drugs, it's his perogative. It's his life, and he can do what he wants with it. In an article in Rolling Stone, Chris was talking about the AOL incident when everyone was debating which songs indicated he was a heroein (however the hell it's spelled) addict. Not if he was or not, but which songs indicated that he was. Even though a person's in the public eye doesn't mean we should spend our time speculating on their private lives. I know you weren't saying that we should... this is more of an announcement to everybody. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 28 Jun 1998 23:23:10 -0500 From: Vasant Ramamurthy Subject: Re: question about a song > >hey, i dont really listen to the Beatles. Just like SG they have a range of different sounds and a > variety of different 'feelings' within their huge discography. and hey, > if the guys in SG like them, they must be good! koggle's absolutely right. age should not be a barrier to discovering good music. i'm also 19, and i've been listening to the beatles since i was 10. and as a side rant, if there's one thing that pisses me off, it's when young people are ignorant of the history of music. for example, in the pearl jam newsgroup, people were asking about PJ's opening acts, and they had no idea who frank black, x, and iggy pop were!! now that's just a crying shame. vasant ------------------------------ End of SOMMS Digest - 28 Jun 1998 to 29 Jun 1998 ************************************************
