Hi, If you want to have a really weird experience, change the balance on your stereo and listen to the SG songs only through the left or right speaker. I did it accidentally with The Day I Tried to Live, and I couldn't work out what was going on... Oh well something different I guess. Sure the brain is an active sexual organ, but it is not because something has vaguely to do with the brain that we could say it's intellectual... I guess it's hard to explain. . .Erotic can be erotic in the sexual sense where you're turned on, but it can also stimulate you non-sexually, mentally. .. .but in an erotic way. Oh, forget it. IROS A TOMAR POR CULO ---------- ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 15 Jun 1998 16:52:53 -0400 From: jenny grover Subject: WWC Bonus tracks! Today I received my Japanese import copy of Wellwater Conspiracy's Declaration of Conformity, which has 2 bonus tracks unavailable elsewhere. They are Akka Raga, a psychedelic Indian flavored Shocking Blue cover, and Late Night, a Syd Barrett cover which Matt sings with heart-aching beauty. Ahhh.... wonderful! The CD is packaged with a bonus booklet in both English and Japanese, which ostensibly contains the lyrics. HOWEVER-- while Ben and Matt are hard enough for us to understand, the results of someone for whom English is likely not their first language trying to decipher them is, well, very interesting and amusing. In fact, it's a trip. (Is "seedinvoondsvine" really a word?) There is also a little paperboard wrap for the outside spine of the jewel case, written in Japanese and with a teeny tiny pic of the band. So, is all this worth paying $30 for ($35 with shipping from CDNow)? Depends on the level of your obsession. Having heard Late Night, though, I can't stop playing it over and over. My friend was playing the song and I said "Hey, I've heard that before!". I immediately whipped out UMOK and searched for where I had heard it :) He agreed that it was the song. It's only like the same 2 sec clip repeated over and over again and backwards i think=BF? I thought that this was cool :) Oh, and I don't think Sonic Youth are even mentioned for it in the credits at all! Oh well... Just seeing if anyone ever noticed this before :) Kris Hermansen ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 15 Jun 1998 17:56:30 -0400 From: "Steven Russell Jr." Subject: Shuffling back to Buffalo (Lightning, Matt C....PJ, TFC, Monk Burger's and $5 Veggie Wraps) Hey List! I just flew in from DC (and boy are my arms tired :-) Had a great weekend! Met sommster numbers 2, 3 and 4 for me. Much better time and people then that first meeting...so...there's hope for y'all yet :-) hehe I've noticed that people on other lists are starting to tell the lightning story from Saturday....don't believe them if they say it came from the top of the sky. It didn't...it wasn't blue lightning either :-) It was white and it shot from the ground...up. If anyone actually wants to hear the entire story..email me personally. I guess the reason i'm writing....i bet some of you are curious as to what PJ sounds like with Matt Cameron on drums. He definitely makes them sound pretty different. The entire bottom end of songs like "Brain of J", "Do the Evolution", "Evenflow" and "Hail, Hail" sound like Soundgarden :-) It's hard to describe...but you can hear "Slaves and Bulldozer's" and any other SG song in these songs...I found it very refreshing, neat and interesting. So...when you see PJ this summer...and they play "Do the Evolution"....listen to just the drums during the slow part of the song...can't you hear SaB? Doesn't that drum sound.....remind you of another band? :-) Just something to think about... Representing Buffalo, Toronto and all of Western New York....Peace Out, *lol* steve - wondering why they weren't selling Monk Burgers, TFC Chicken Wings or Tibet Taffy? ;-) ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 15 Jun 1998 17:13:01 +0000 From: "Barbara L. Strong" Subject: CC solo project/Overfloater A friend of mine works for A&M (don't get excited, he's only an accountant) and he told me Friday night that Chris hasn't even begun recording yet because negotiations are still going on. Whatever, anyway, I really dug Kathie's interp of "Overfloater" - that to me is a very erotic, hypnotic song and I always think of it in reference to drugs or sex or anything really decadent that you feel guilty for doing.
